Two years ago we posted this (swipe). Looking back is a blur, a blur of strong medication in combination with chemo. I was in such a bad state, they used to check my pulse and breathing multiple times a day and we didn’t want the kids to have to see that. So everyday my parents picked me up in the morning to take me to their house. So they could focus on caring for me, while Tom and his dad could focus on the kids.

Despite it all they always made sure I was home for the kids bedtime. All of us in Charlie’s bed and I normally fell asleep before Tom even finished the story. It’s all a blur trying to look back, but there’s some memories that stick out, some moments where I got woken up of my deep medical blur. This is one of those, one of many that will always bring tears to my eyes and ache in my heart thinking about it. When Charlie crawled close to me in his bed, hugged me tight and whispered “I miss you mamma”.

Even if it’s hard looking back, it makes us so incredibly thankful to be where we are today. All of us together, living and enjoying our days as a family. We’ll never take life for granted.

Traveling like this always makes my survivors guilt go sky high. It’s always there when I’m happy or having a good time, reminding me I need to appreciate every moment. But driving around Europe with my family, enjoying new places and a good time together in this way makes me feel really guilty. Why are we so lucky we can be out here enjoying life while so many is still fighting the fight? Why did I manage to win this fight and so many don’t?

✨2025 reflections ✨

There’s so many hopes and dreams for 2025. The year starts on the road, going for another big adventure with loads of excitement. The year I might get to celebrate 2 years of clear scans, something I barely dare to say out loud. The year we have to settle in to our new home and start a new chapter that’s not on the road. The year we’ll become Mr & Mrs. The year our oldest starts school.

There’s a lot of dreams but even more fears, so many what ifs. It’s important to dare to feel it all, the good and the bad. Remember to always enjoy what you got now, and not just rush for the next thing. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2025! 🫶🏼

Seeing 2024 off the only way we know how - in our pyjamas in a random spot in Germany (not pictured).

2024’s been a weird one for us. So many incredible adventures, and so much to be thankful for after a 2023 full of chemotherapy and cancer. But this has also been a year where we’ve realised that there’s still a lot of healing to be done. We’re getting there, though.

We want to say a huge thanks to everyone who’s supported us this year, we love you all and we’re grateful every day 🧡 have a wonderful New Year, and hug your loved ones extra tight.

Two years ago today I got my first round of chemo. At 7.45 I was in the operation room getting a picc-line put in and straight after it was chemo time. I remember waking up that morning and only seeing pictures of peoples kids dressed up in Christmas clothes on their way to a ‘Lucia celebration’ and us not even seeing our kids that day. It was a hard day for many, many reasons, but one of the biggest feelings looking back is still guilt and anxiety of missing the build up to Christmas with my family.

But at the same time I also feel so incredibly proud that we got through it all. That we’re here now and get to do what we love together as a family. Appreciating little things in life that many people take for granted.

Had the van back about a week before she broke down again. Now she’s stood in the cold waiting for the tow truck, again! Fingers crossed that they’ll fix it for real this time and that we can manage to drive south soon enough!

Ok so it’s been a bit quiet here but here’s an update!

So we got stuck here a bit longer than planned, just like last year, and because we couldn’t just sit and wait four weeks we spontaneously decided to buy a little cabin in the woods! From the first time we saw it to having the keys in our hands took less than three weeks 😅
The last doctors appointment came and we got an all clear to leave, the next day Sunny breaks down and we’ve not been able to drive her since. We finally managed to get her booked in to a garage next week and now hoping it won’t be too expensive and that we can still leave after that!

But for now, we’re starting to fix up the cabin and trying to stay positive about having to stay in Sweden for a bit longer, again!

Because the anniversary of when they found my cancer is coming up and all the emotions and memories are going through our minds I found some old diary notes I made during chemo. I can’t remember writing these, and I’ve never shared them with anyone before. But today I’m sharing this with you, to open eyes for what it can be going through cancer treatment. Every three weeks this started over again, the first 8 days were the worst. I’m only sharing my first 4 days. If you know someone who’s going through this right now, make sure they know they’re not alone. Call them, give them a hug, show up for them, don’t ask what they need, just show up. Everything is easier if you’re not going through it alone 🫶

Exactly two years ago my cancer journey started. This picture was one of the last we took of our ‘normal’ pre-cancer life. Little did we know what was waiting around the corner. The second picture is a few days in to different appointments and a load of drugs.

Looking at these pictures always makes me cry, I can see the joy in the first one and the pain in the second. How small the kids were. It aches in me how much I’ve missed from their first years❤️‍🩹
