Switching to renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind or hydroelectric power, not only means less pollution, it means less water usage because most of non-renewable energy generation methods is highly water intensive.
Today, approximately 80% of global energy and 66% of electrical generation are supplied from fossil fuels. Apart from choosing renewable energy sources, we can also save energy and water by unplugging devices we don’t use, or switch to energy-efficient lightbulbs, and more. What are your best energy-saving tips?

Cities are engines for development and provide opportunities for innovation and interaction. But cities can also exacerbate some of the world’s most serious environmental and socioeconomic challenges, and at the same time citizens and urban infrastructure are facing vulnerable. For cities to make peace with nature, we need to plan and design cities and urban infrastructure with nature in mind.
Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can help cities address urgent and fundamental environmental challenges by bringing ecosystems services back into cities and rebalancing cities’ relationships with their surrounding areas. By accelerating the implementation of NbS, decision-makers can help cities adapt to effects of climate change, reduce urban heat island effects and cooling needs in buildings, clean air, manage water.
This report, produced by UNEP in close collaboration with the Italian Presidency of the G20, investigates the potential of NbS to help build smart, sustainable and resilient cities, drawing from more than a decade of research and experience from G20 countries and beyond. It offers an overview of the best practices of NbS implementation in cities around the world, and a set of guiding principles to improve territorial governance and establish multi-level governance frameworks to increase the impact and coherence of policies and private investments.
The goal is to inspire further action by national governments and city authorities to enhance NbS in cities to reduce their vulnerability to climate change. In this framework, Covid-19 recovery plans offer a great opportunity to scale up NbS in cities, with a view to building back better in ways that protect, conserve, and restore our ecosystems and their services, while addressing the social and economic challenges of urban areas and significantly reducing environmental impacts.

Committed countries have intensified climate action following the Paris Agreement. Many countries are taking multi-pronged steps to achieve the goal of Zero Carbon emissions by the year 2050. But many countries are not taking effective steps to fight climate change. Under Trump's leadership, America had adopted an irresponsible attitude in taking effective steps. However, now the Biden administration has reiterated the commitments of the Paris Agreement to fight climate change. According to experts' report, the way in which steps are being taken to fight climate change, the target of limiting the temperature at 2 degree Celsius may not be achieved by 2050. Even now, carbon emissions are increasing every year. As a result, there is an increase in the intensity of severe seasonal disasters, decline in agricultural productivity, etc. Rising sea levels will return to normal only when the commitments of the Paris Agreement are met.

Now, nearly 760 million people still lack access to electricity and approximately 2.6 billion people lack of clean cooking fuels, causing several million deaths each year from household air pollution across the world. The energy sector is the source of around three-quarters of greenhouse gas emissions and holds the key to averting the worst effects of . Affordable technologies are readily available on the market today that can put the world on track by 2030 for net‐zero emissions by 2050. Renewable energy is a smart investment and an equipment for job creation. Renewables provide three times more green jobs than fossil fuels. The Dialogues will mobilize commitments and actions to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 and reach net zero emissions by 2050.
