💋DALE RAY SERVED... AND WE ATE!💋
There's no before-show-buzz quite like Prince fans waiting to feast.
The atmosphere is electric while the house lights dim and the voices lower. There is palpable silence and excitement you can taste. "Dearly beloved." Two words that tell us we are not here to simply sit and watch, we are here to eat it all up!
Accompanied by a phenomenal band, stunning bespoke costuming and lighting as dramatic as an icon like Prince would demand, the production as a whole feels as authentic to an actual concert as a tribute show can be.
More than just the perfect stature to portray him, Ray is absolutely embodied in every single stance and nuance, and he nails the classic primal vocal qualities that make Prince so unmistakably him.
I felt a profoundly eery sense that Dale Ray was born for this role - that it is the one of a lifetime - that he needs to star in the Hollywood biographical epic just as Rami Malek did in Bohemian Rhapsody and Taron Egerton did in Rocketman. It will be called, 'Nothing Compares' - and truly no one else's portrayal will.
If Nelson was the Prince of Pop, then Ray is the Duke of his legacy.

Oakfields College Dance and Musical Theatre graduate and winner of the On Cue talent-based competition, Miane Shepherd is this week's #FeatureFriday 🤩
"I strive to constantly and consistently learn and grow as a performer AND as a human being."
Trained in numerous dance styles, @miane08 has danced for prestigious productions including the Ghoema Music Awards, Naledi Theatre Awards and Miss Deaf SA. She has choreographed a 'Dans in Jou Taal' episode winner and most recently for the Jozi Youth Dance Company.
Miane believes that art is both a beautiful "exploration of life" and a wonderful escape from it. She believes that artists have contributed to helping everyone, including 'essential workers' cope with what's going on around the world, making them essential too.
Unselfishly and with love, she hopes to use performance as a catalyst for making people feel. The good, the bad and everything in between. So that we can collectively learn more as a people.
"I can't think of a better way for people to learn about themselves and one another, than through art."
What a beautiful heart and mind - we're so lucky we got to chat to you, Miane, and we look forward to all the art you're going to make in future✨
