We've been a bit quiet over the last few months, but rest assured we have been hard at work developing a massive update for Grip.

Better optimisation, upgraded graphics and a bunch of bug fixes.

Grip received an honourable mention!

Last night was the awards ceremony for the annual Freeplay Independent Games Festival, the world's longest-running independent games festival, located in Melbourne.

The awards span multiple fields celebrating games of all types from independent developers and artists in Australia and New Zealand.

We were thrilled to hear that as part of the Student Game Award, Grip received an honourable mention. The Student Game Award winner and nominees look absolutely incredible and it truly is an honour to be considered amongst them.

GRIP is still in development!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted an update on the development of our debut title, Grip, but rest assured we have been hard at work running a fine-tooth comb through the game to prepare it for public release!

We are beyond excited to announce that Grip will feature original musical compositions from the incredible Matthew Kenneally.

Matt is a singer, songwriter and musician based in Geelong, Victoria. He is the frontman for alternative indie band, Canary, who has released two albums, ‘Dear Universe’ (2012) and ‘I Am Lion’ (2016). In 2017, Matt also released his debut solo single, ‘Would I Do It Again?’. When he isn’t composing, Matt and his fiance, Suzy, run their own specialty coffee shop in Geelong, Jailbird Coffee House.

Like us, Matt is passionate about games and enjoys titles such as Owlboy, Dead Cells, Shadow of the Colossus, and numerous other indie titles.

Aquilla is a Melbourne-based actor and performer. She recently graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts where she performed various roles, including Wendy Darling in 'Peter Pan' (dir. Ben Schostakowski), Henry Antrobus in 'The Skin of Our Teeth' (dir. Dean Bryant), and Billy in a staged reading of 'S**T' (playwright: Patricia Cornelius).

James is 21 years old, born in Queensland, and currently lives in Melbourne studying at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Stage credits include Roderigo in ‘Othello’ (dir. Budi Miller), Bill Fordham in ‘August: Osage County’ (dir. Leith McPherson), The Dog in ‘Doctor Faustus Lights The Lights’ (dir. Name: Ayesha Harris-Westman
Role: Voice Actor

Ayesha plays the character of Steph, a highschool student and friend of the main character, Avery.

Ayesha is currently studying acting at the Victorian College of the Arts and will graduate in November. Her most recent voice acting credit was for a transmedia, immersive, digital experience for the University of Melbourne.

Ayesha’s favourite PC game as a child was ‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’.

As our team’s mentor, Tyson has been guiding us in the development of Grip from start to finish. His expertise in Game Design and the Unreal Engine has been vital to ensure our game is the best it can be.

Tyson is a games developer of 7 years, living in Melbourne, VIC. He is the Founder and Creative Director at Toybox Games Studios, has developed several small-scale, award-winning games, as well as several popular digital creations and videos, some of which having over 150,000 views.

Tyson has completed a 'Masters in Animation, Games and Interactivity', and specialises in design and world creation, especially within the Unreal Engine.

Tyson currently works at the Academy of Information Technology in Melbourne as Head Games Lecturer.

In addition to introducing our team, each week we'll also be showcasing gameplay and how the game’s mechanics work.

Grip is a single-player, exploration and puzzle game where you play as Avery, a young teenager who is navigating their way out of a small canyon by learning to control their telekinetic abilities. You will have to harness Avery’s abilities in order to traverse and explore the canyon, solving puzzles scattered around the environment.

Grip is a 3D, first-person, exploration and puzzle game currently being developed for PC using the Unreal Engine as part of our team’s final university project.
