I’m moderating a panel on Bi+ health!
This Sunday, I () am moderating a panel for the .nyc Bi+ Health Palooza! If you’ve listened to , you’ve heard me talk about BiRequest and how much it has helped me — now’s the perfect chance to try it out if you haven’t been!
Sun, Mar 20th at 3-6pm ET, 12pm-3pm PT.
The first hour, moderate a panel discussion with some fantastic guests, including .tangi, reps from the *xualresourcecenter, and !
The next two hours will feature multiple breakout rooms with fun games, trivia, a seminar on stress management, a bi-health-themed discussion, and more. A great chance to see old friends or make new ones and build Bi+ community!

It’s March which means it’s Bis*xual Health Awareness Month. Did you know that Bi+ people have worse health outcomes — both physical and mental — than straight, gay, or le***an people? Sadly, it’s true.
One of the many reasons why is that bis*xual people often end up in situations where it feels “easier” to stay closeted, creating a unique mental health challenge. Some doctors and therapists are aware of these issues, but many are not and unfortunately reinforce this repression.
In this week’s episode of , Benjamin Perry, a Minister at Middle Church in NYC, talks about recognizing his own bis*xuality about a decade before coming out publicly and what influenced that decision.
I feel very similarly about my own decision to come out. For a while, I knew I was bi, but I didn’t think it mattered. I didn’t think I’d ever tell anyone. I didn’t think anyone needed to know.
That last part may be true — you don’t owe anyone anything — but what I didn’t realize was the toll my self-censorship was taking on my mental health. I soon realized I needed to come out and tell people — not for them, but for ME.
I started small, and even just telling a few people was such a relief. Many stay here for a while — it can definitely be unsafe to come out in certain situations, and you should only do it if you feel able — but I liked the feeling of freedom to speak my mind and soon came out publicly (and started this podcast!).
Being open about who I was literally changed my life. It forced me to learn how to embrace ALL of myself, even the parts I was taught to be ashamed of, and to celebrate them instead.
Awareness can combat these statistics, so please share this or reply or post with your own story about your Bi+ identity and how it’s affected your mental health, or what it was like when you came out.

For a long time, I didn’t realize that polyamory was a possibility — just like bis*xuality. But once I learned more about both and started meeting other Bi+ & poly people, things started to “click”, and I realized how natural and comfortable this worldview is for me.
I loved chatting about this with in our new episode, and I learned even more about the scarcity model of love and how love is commodified in our capitalist society. But the truth is love is an infinite resource — it can expand within us if we allow it to, and it is ethical to spread and share it if we do so honestly and consensually.
