Level 5 restrictions are set to be officially extended this afternoon.

While more than 300,000 students will return to the classroom next Monday.

Last night the cabinet sub-committee on COVID agreed to prolong Level 5 restrictions until at least April 5th.

The only changes will be the re-opening of schools and childcare.

Leaving Cert students, junior infants, senior infants, 1st and 2nd class will return to the classroom next Monday.

While 5th years and the remainder of primary students will be back on March 15th.

The rest of secondary school students won't be back until after Easter.

Childcare will return on a staggered basis from next month.

There will be no re-opening for construction, which some Ministers believe will lead to a housing hangover later this year.

A revised living with COVID document released later will reportedly be "nothing like" the UK's.

It won't provide dates beyond April for when parts of the economy can re-open, with some political sources fearing that it lacks a bit of hope.

NEFL Statement

2020 season - Due to the ongoing level 5 restrictions. It is now accepted it would not be possible to complete the season in full by the extended deadline of 21 March, a date which was advised from the FAI back in late November 2020 following representations on our behalf by the LFA. As a result, the 2020 season will not be resumed. It is with regret the forced upon decision had to be taken, as the view all along was to try at all costs to complete the season as planned from the outset. One exception shall be the stand alone one off '40 Year commemorative cup' which is down to the last sixteen and will be integrated with all other competitions at the start of the 2021 season with a view to have it concluded within the first quarter period.

50 % Club affiliation fees were imposed for the shortened season, with no charges for player registrations. It is now proposed for Clubs that are up to date with their accounts that half of the 50% figure received be now offset as a credited amount towards 2021 team affiliation costs. Clubs with long outstanding amounts due will not be afforded the concession.

2021 season - Similar to all Leagues we wait for a Government announcement of easing of restrictions that will hopefully see a return to collective training, followed by a resumption of match schedule - Hopefully ASAP. The aim at this point is to complete a full season as normal. It is felt the latest cut off starting point to do so would be mid to late May, and should the start be delayed to that point or close to it, would entail the full cooperation of all teams to accept the imposition of two matches per week during a minimum of six occasions within the months of June and July. The hope is an earlier starting date will be granted, but should it be put further back into June or beyond would likely force a rethink towards a reduced campaign in orde

Afternoon all! Hope you're all keeping well during the current restrictions.

Just a little update for you regarding the current status on the green. Our next court date has been pushed out until February 9th so we will have more information after this time.

We still have some funds to raise to reach our €45,000 target and we have some fun things being planned in the background to help us with this task.

We want to thank you all again for all your continued support and just ask that you dig deep where possible to help us get over that line.

Also remember, if anyone needs anything collected (shopping, medication, etc) due to isolating, please reach out and we will get you sorted.

Regards,
MRA
