THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD ENGAGE AS A BUSINESS OR BRAND.

The posts you engage with determine what you get to see on your timeline and who your posts get suggested to.
Haven't you noticed that when you stop to read a post, you get to see more of such content from the same and different creators?

In the same way, when you engage with others' posts and they stop to read your comments they start seeing more posts from you and other creators in your niche.

This is why How and WHO you engage with matters a lot.

Let's answer the How.

This is how to engage online as a business owner trying to build a reputable brand and attract paying clients.

1. Engage with the thought leads.
Because this is what everybody will be doing and these are the people the algorithm will always favor (Because they have done and are still doing what
it requires them - building an authentic brand).
These sets are the first persons the algorithm suggests to you. Their post is like a place where other creators have their meetings.
- To learn & To contribute
- To show their expertise & connect with other experts. You don't want to miss these daily meetings.

2. Engage with creators/Vendors in your niche.
Doing this helps the algorithm know what you are all about. It is also a good start to building a lasting relationship that creates an avenue for collaboration and support. These are the people who will have the time to contribute to your growth with their Engagement.

3. Engage with those who have the same target audience as you.
They do not sell what you sell or provide the same services as you but your potential client will most likely buy from them too.For instance, As a social media manager, I would most likely engage with graphic designers as we have a chance to provide different services to the same clients. Engaging with them will bring me in contact with their target audience which is also mine. Win-Win!

4. Engage with your Target Audience.
This could be a fellow business owner who would most likely need my product or services. Engaging with them would build trust that leads to sales and even referrals.

5. Engage with Contents that are in line with your principal or interest.
I would engage with Content that talks about parenting, fitness, and Self-care as these are some of the things I am very interested in right now and can share opinions about.
Engaging with content that you share the same value with helps your target audience know the kind of person you are. This can endear them to you.

Why you should stop Engaging with certain posts as a business.

I know you like sweet gossip and you sometimes don't remember how you started reading them

They have just been showing up on your feed and you can't help it.

My dear! Please help it o! Avoid k your business career before it even starts.

You have to always remember that once you start reading a post, react to it and even comment on it.

The algorithm will be like "Ok!" He likes this kind of content.

Oya! Fire!, fire! More, more!

Anything to make you stay.

It's all good until these are the only kinds of content you start seeing.

Contents that do not allow you to

✓ Show your expertise.
✓Sell without selling.
✓Build relationships that will lead to collaborations.

It will only keep you in the circles of
✓ Follow for Follow
✓ "Do giveaway na" Followers
✓ Vawulence kings and queens.

If you are here to sell your market, avoid these kinds of content.

How to Engage on social media to grow your business.

You need to be intentional with your Engagements hence you spend all your time here doing nothing.

Whether you say it all or not it has to be give and take. Where you are getting it wrong is thinking that the only time you take when you give through Engagement is when the poster acknowledges you with a reply or an emoji.

That is a plus though but you shouldn't focus on that alone.

I want you to see the comment section as a please to

- Sell without selling.
- Show your expertise.
- Share your value.
- Build relationships.

I will come back to each point later. For now, let me show you how to engage.

By the way, to get a clearer understanding of this post, you should check out my other post on the Queen 👑' Engagement'.

To be intentional about engagement you need to dedicate time to it and Engage in this manner.

Let's assume you come across a post from a thought leader. Of course unlike my post(we are getting there) you will find a lot of comments to read.

First! Drop your comment if and only if it resonates with you(if not politely state your opinion or Waka pass in peace, Biko!)

While commenting, use every chance you get to connect it to your niche or just share your values. Do not comment out of point or try to sell abeg you.

Now go through the comments, find someone you agree with their comments and Engage with them. Don't let it end there, please.

This is for engaging with the thought leaders.

Now, Engage with those in your niche or your target audience.
I want to tell you to stop looking down on posts with no engagement. Instead, view it as a place to
- Shine your light the brightest.
- Build a new relationship
- Give the support you desire.

And yes, you don't only engage in the comments, you can also engage with Stories.
Take Time out to view other people's stories (Make sure it is those I mentioned in my previous post) and send replies.

Engage with polls.
Answer poll questions and give your votes if they relate to the points I listed in my last post.

YOU NEED TO KNOW THE BENEFITS OF ENGAGING.

So you will stop whining over people not Engaging with your post in return.

There was a time in my content creator life when I faced what we call "writers block!"
I couldn't write a thing, I was just not feeling it. I tried but I couldn't for about a week.

Guess what?

Facebook recognized me as a rising creator that week.

While I not sharing content, I was Engaging with other creators.

This is one of the benefits of Engaging.

The algorithm counts it as Content.

2. It pleases oga al- go ri thm!

3. It gives your post far reach

4. Intentional Engagement attracts paying clients.

5. It allows you to share your values, opinions, and expertise.

6. It keeps you connected to thought leaders.

7. It gives You content ideas.

8. It improves your listening skills.

9. It helps you find friends to grow with(That is if you follow the steps in my previous posts on Engagement)

10. It sharpens your writing skills.

11. It gives you a voice.

The next time you feel like you are wasting your Time Engaging with others when no one is returning the favor, remember that Engaging waters you more than it does them.

There is a misconception about Engaging with other creators.

One of Which is the need to be seen or heard by the poster especially if that person is a well-respected social figure.

You are advised to be among the first few to engage with a post. So when you come across a post you relate with, you ignore it because the comments are so many that yours wouldn't be seen.

1. You stopped engaging with a creator as he or she never replies or reacts to your comments.

2. You don't care about other engagers.

3. Your comments do not show your expertise or don't even apply to the post.

4. You Engage aimlessly with every post you come across just because you want to grow your followers.

5. You don't reply to comments reply to your comments.

6. You see the comment session as a place to argue with other commenters.

7. You don't read through the comments of others.

8. You engage with only those you know.

9. You don't engage with your own Post.

10. You don't engage with things related or beneficial to your niche or personal growth.

Remember Engagement is 👸👑

This is why comedy sells.

But it has to be strategic.

Make you no go turn comedy forget market when you come to sell😂😂😂

Adding humor while sharing the difficulties you face as a business owner softens a potential client's heart.

One person who has done it so we is Late Wasubi, the skit maker. He has somehow managed to stay in line with his profession while making people laugh. You can tell he is a law student after watching just one of his skits.

Don't get carried always with the engagement that you forget to sell. To strike a good balance always make it about your business.

Be liked.

Be reachable.

Being found is easy because almost every business you know has a social media account.

They know it's important because when they asked YouTube what they needed to do to start a business, creating a social media account was one of the many things listed and they followed the list meticulously.

The numbers start reducing when you talk about likability.

They have not given us any information for us to know them, talk more of liking them. The last time they posted was years back or a few months back and all they did was sell to us.

Even if they have a link that is accessible, We still can't reach them because we don't trust them.

WE DO NOT WANT TO BE THEM!

You do not just need to be found on social media, you need to be seen and heard so that you can be liked if not loved.

Actively Create content that takes us through the process, please.

When using trending sounds, it is important to remember why you started creating Content in the first place.

Your Caption should give people a hint of what you do.

Not after spending hours trying to lip-sync the sound and dancing your waist out, do you forget about saying something about your product or service.

Talk about something that makes you stand out. Something your clients know you for.

Talk about the problem you solve for them.

Having an active social media presence gives you that.

I find it funny when a business owner devalues my job as a social media manager. I take it that he or she doesn't understand the role social media plays in growing his/her business.

Social Media will keep your customers coming.

Imagine the scenario.

A client chats you up on WhatsApp and buys from you. Maybe because someone recommended your product or services.

And after delivery, you did not keep in touch.

You didn't even save the person's contact.

Out of sight is out of mind!

On the other hand, you both saved each other's contact. He or she sees your WhatsApp status update regularly. You drop a link to your other active social media handles and he/she silently follows.

Reads from you.
Join you live.
Watch your videos.
See your update.

Tell me then, what happens?

Ok, let's say the person contacted you through your ads, buys from you and all.
And that is it.

Or the person came across your page from mentions, your comment, or any of those means.

Whichever way.

You need to nurture and keep nurturing a potential client into paying clients,

From paying clients to returning clients,
From return clients to Loyal clients.

Loyal clients us the goal!

I just came across a post where a lady had shared the voice note she received from the Uber driver who dropped her off.

He told her how he could perform very well in the other room for hours and even asked her to recommend him to her friends.

Shameful right?

I won't be surprised when people contact the lady to get his contact anonymously.

He must have gotten many clients using that method.

-Word of mouth & referral.

You and I have seen
banners,
Live sessions,
Contents & pictures these people share shamelessly.

I can't help but to wonder why you who sell a legit product or provide a much needed service have decided to keep your mouth close.

Tailor 1: I am a tailor.

Tailor 2: I make dresses

Tailor 3: I make well-fitted outfits for 'YOUR' every special occasion.

Which tailor would you patronize?

Tailor 1 told you about her profession.

The conversation could go flat after tailors 1 & 2's answer. But with Tailor 3 the conversation has many branches to take.

A potential client could ask:

These questions will further the conversation and give the tailor an avenue to showcase his or her skills.

It is a perfect place for you to answer the question:
