Despite its ecological value and endangered species, Lake Ontario is one of the least protected great lakes. The eastern watershed, in particular, has the potential for important conservation work that could protect the migratory habitat of birds and endangered species, while improving the health and connectivity of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
