Baby Haven Greyson born New Year's Day - 25 weeks, 6 days IUGR. Haven's Angels are his amazing community supporters. Big Announcement!!!

At birth he weighed 410 grams (less than a pound) and was the smallest Micro-Preemie born at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in 2019. Haven was finally granted the supporter button! This means for less than the cost of coffee a month, you could help Haven’s reach his next goal of getting form fitted transition glasses he can wear with his helmet. purchased Haven his brand new prescription glasses and frames, a sensory swing for indoors and Haven can now afford to go for a full month to private music therapy specially for medically complex kids!! Our next goal is aid in Haven’s medical expenses. There are a lot of consumable medical supplies that aren’t covered by insurance for our sweet Haven. Covatec Stomahesive Protective Powder, Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film Spray, Mederma Kids Skin Care for Scars, Nitrile and Vinyl Blend Material Disposable Gloves, Solimo 99% Isopropyl Alcohol For Technical Use, Hand Sanitizer, 6 Inch Long Cotton Swabs and LEVOIT Air Purifier LV-H133 Replacement Filter, H13 True HEPA and Activated Carbon Filters Set are just some of those necessary monthly items. Haven needs them for his pulmonary hypertension, skin breakdowns, oxygen support, to prevent infections, for scar therapy, medical interventions, etc. They cost over $300.00 extra a month. Haven needs 63 more supporters to help cover the cost of these items. Come on Angels - I know we can do it! I have been floored by blessings after blessing that I didn’t think possible. They say trust in God and all will be taken care of. Faith is found in the darkest of places, and Angels you prove to me everyday that the Miracle of Haven is a message worth continuing to spread. Haven had and upper and lower GI scope today at 6 am. We have been up since 4 am. He is napping from the anesthesia and lack of sleep this week.

Scopes went well they took biopsy’s and they did find ulcers around where the j tube tip sits 15 cm past the stomach. So there may be blood coming from there.

His colon was dialated, just like before so that has not changed. Results from biopsy’s should be released in a week or two for some of the tests. 🌹💜

2am — We got a room.

4 am - We got the line repaired externally 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you God for the vascular access team at Lucile Packard Children’s — we are waiting for discharge and our little mighty (no longer a peanut) man just might make it home and to bed in time for Santa’s visit.

I actually cried on the way to the ER thinking Haven would miss Santa and we would be back in the hospital. He is just getting to that age where he really remember everything.

My sweet dad said to me, “Whatever day we come home — will be Santa and will be Christmas.”

On the 25th of December of 2021, I was bedridden pregnant with Haven and praying to God to let my baby be ok and not be born too early. On the 25th of December of 2024, Haven is having emergency central line repair. My little worrier likes to keep his Mamma on her toes…

But despite all the fears and the tears — our Haven is here, growing and thriving and will be home in time for Christmas. He is always giving us little Miracles as reminders to simply — have faith and believe.

Happy holidays to all our Angels 👼 our sweet Haven is almost 6 years old. What a blessing life is. No matter what this next year brings we have the joys of being together and that is something to be forever grateful for. Sending all our love from the Smith family 💜🌹🎄

We made it safely home last night after 56 days in the hospital. The nurses on the unit all signed a big card for Haven and bought him balloons 🎈! Haven was so excited to be going home. “We get to go home!”

It’s been such a long journey. Our family is so blessed to have such amazing medical support and Angels 👼 all over the world watching over us. And though we took some steps backward to Haven it means he actually is growing and getting the nutrition he hasn’t been able to absorb.

Last night was a bit rough. So many new medications (one medication was missing and will have to call doctors office to get it filled tomorrow) and first time doing TPN, but my sweet parents helped me through it all. We will slowly adapt to this new schedule and lots of medical appointments. IEP on Friday to discuss home schooling for the rest of this semester. Dressing changes on every Tuesday and Friday back at the hospital. And anytime Haven gets a fever back into the hospital for antibiotics due to his central line.

But for now, laying down in our own beds was glorious!! I’m sure Haven feels the same way no waking up to vitals all night long and him and Teddy get to sleep back in their little cave. Papaw sitting in the rocker reading him night night stories as Mamma kisses him goodnight after meds. He has been through so much my little warrior. He slayed so many dragons! 🐉 He shows us how to find ways of coping through the chaos.

“We are going to get a bee sting” 🐝 as I give him his blood thinner shot in his thigh. “All done!” He said after a bit of crying in the moment. Then he just simply moves on to the next moment which is cuddling with Teddy’s ear. He looks up at the bee 🐝 balloon his nurses bought him and smiles. He knows one moment might sting, but the next might bring joy. What a gift to witness his life and learn from him.

“Good night my sweetest boy”, I say to him. “I love you” he says in the sweetest five year old voice. He adds “Haven and Mamma. Forever and Ever.”
