Prom season is on the horizon, and Camille’s Closet and Theo’s Threads are making sure that every student can attend. Keep reading to find out how you can get involved.

➡️ WHAT: Camille’s Closet and Theo’s Threads are youth-led programs that are a part of the Greensboro Youth Council. The programs are accepting donations of new or gently used prom clothing, shoes, and accessories now through March 1.

➡️ WHY: In April, middle school and high school students will be able to “shop” for free! The programs make it possible for students who normally couldn’t afford prom clothing to attend their school’s event.

➡️ GET INVOLVED: You can view and purchase items from the programs’ Amazon wishlist or drop off new and gently worn prom wear, shoes, and accessories at any of the locations listed below:

🤵‍♂️ WHAT: A speakeasy lounge with a posh, upscale atmosphere and weekly themed networking events. The lounge’s music will emphasize Afro-Carribean culture with Afro beats, amapiano, hip hop, reggae, and R&B. The Hendrxx will have a 25+ age limit and dress code policy.

🍸 MENU: Craft cocktails, decadent desserts, and food trucks out back for lite bites.

🗓️ OPENING: The Hendrxx’s soft opening is scheduled for the end of March.

Did you know Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. visited Greensboro in the 1960s?

➡️ In February 1958, Dr. King spoke at Pfeiffer Chapel at in Greensboro – a historically Black school – about elections and the two major parties. While at Bennett College, King spoke with student reporters from the school paper. The interview was recorded and you can read the written transcript online.

➡️ He was supposed to visit Greensboro again on April 4, 1968. His plans changed at the last minute and he decided to stay in Memphis longer, where he was assassinated on April 3, 1968.

WHAT: introduced five public-use domes in the Social District on December 17. Each dome is uniquely decorated and offers a warm space to relax. They will be available to use until February 18.

BACKGROUND: The domes were made available through a partnership with High Point X Design, Norwalk Furniture, Woodbridge Furniture, .space and .

DETAILS: Domes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, Visit High Point asks that groups limit their time to 1 hour.

🏌️‍♂️ TOPGOLF recently broke ground on its new location in Greensboro!

➡️ WHAT: Topgolf is a golfing venue where anyone - no matter their skill level - can participate. Players hit tracked balls into a giant field while playing on virtual courses.

⛳️ DETAILS: The venue will have 72 outdoor climate-controlled hitting bays, along with a full-menu restaurant, family-friendly programming, and private event rooms.

Award-Winning Winery near Greensboro! 🍷 WHAT: Grove Winery is an estate winery and vineyard that is just a short drive away from Greensboro (~25 minutes). ➡️ THE BACKGROUND: Since its opening in 2002, Grove Winery has become one of the most-awarded wineries on the East coast.
