Our host is moving and shaking the city!

Williams D. Brack, also known as “Brack” is the Vice President and Community Development Manager for Regions Bank in West Tennessee and Arkansas. In this role, Brack works to enhance Regions’ reputation and Community Reinvestment Act performance by serving as a technical expert to internal bank partners and building relationships with community development organizations. The Community Reinvestment Act ensures banks serve the needs of all their communities, including those of low- and moderate-income areas and individuals.

A native of Greenwood, MS, one of the most impoverished regions in America, that poverty motivated Brack to dedicate his life to understanding personal finance, business finance, and wealth creation. He has worked as a wealth management advisor for high-net-worth individuals and as a commercial lender for companies with revenues between $25 million and $500 million in revenue.

Brack also co-hosts two podcasts. The Grindset Podcasts is an interview-style podcast that highlights the stories of Black women entrepreneurs in Memphis. Sell or Fail is a sales podcasts that equip new sales professionals with the tools necessary to experience immediate success.

Brack earned a BA in finance from Morehouse College, where he also played quarterback. He serves on the boards of the Downtown Memphis Commission, Mississippi Delta Academies, and Memphis CRA Association. He is a graduate of New Memphis Fellows A19 and is currently in the Leadership Memphis Executive Program class of 2022.

He’s authored articles for the Commercial Appeal, The New Tri-State Defender, and The Tennessee Tribune. He was also honored as the Memphis Businesses Journal 40 under 40 in 2018.

Top 40 Under 40 Urban Elite Professionals Awardee #37 is ! He is the Owner of Massage on the Go, with more than 430 therapists in 50 states. Samuel has proven that hard work and resilience are key ingredients in the recipe for success.

Despite not knowing anything about massage when he enrolled in Massage Institute of Memphis, Sam completed his courses and started Massage on the Go, a mobile massage business specializing in chair massages. By starting small doing massages two days a week at the University Club of Memphis, he was able to connect with several business owners who would mentor him along the way.

After losing several customers during the recession of 2008, Sam would reevaluate his business plan and begin to market massage as a wellness tool instead of an amenity. He also began accepting health and auto insurance, which allowed him to grow his client base to people who couldn’t normally get massages because they couldn’t afford it. This new approach led to the creation of Medical Massages of Memphis.

Through his creation of the new company, Sam refocused his efforts on expanding his business outside of Memphis by working with therapists who are typically independent contractors. Working with those therapists has allowed him to expand his business and client base to all over the United States, with everything being supervised by him in Memphis.

In addition to his primary business, Sam works with a group of African-American community and business leaders on a program called “Mound Collection: Our Community, Our Development.” A clothing company on the surface, the organization takes the profits and purchases homes in the Orange Mound community for redevelopment

On our podcast Sell or Fail, we talked to Saundra Nash, Chief Creative Director at Novateur Brand Architecture. She explained the major components of a sales funnel.
1. Awareness
2. Call Their Attention
3. Get them to say Yes to something

Her major tip is to get 2 free "yes"s before pitching a direct sale. Lead your customers down your funnel to generate more sales.
