But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42 NLT
I believe Jesus was talking to all of us, and I believe He addressed not just about household chores here in this passage but a much deeper things in life. As human, we are exerting so much effort and attention to what are we going to eat today, what if our finances will be short this month, or, I need to do this to get this, I need to do that to get that, etc and etc. We are exerting so much effort on the things of this world. We are always worried and upset on what will we eat or what clothes will we wear, all these not so important details. Because of it, we tend to forget the one thing worth being concerned, the things of God.
Martha haven't discovered it yet at that moment, but her sister Mary discovered it. And Jesus said it will not be taken away from her. We too must discover it, and I believe some of us discovered it already. The most important things in life are the things of God. Yes, we need food and clothing and other stuff, but the Bible clearly says, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.
Physically, I can live by just eating food for my stomach. But I shall not live by that worldly standard of living. Forever, I shall live by every word that comes from the mouth of God. I need the word of God everyday, I need God every moment of my life.
