In episode 83, we spoke to Kenyan fiction writer Yvonne Owuor about development, political violence, and her writing process. In a sobering moment from the episode, Yvonne recalls driving through the battle-ravaged city of Eldoret in the violent aftermath of Kenya’s 2008 presidential election and seeing only a priest on the road helping terrified citizens get to safety.
“There was no police, no one around … He had walked through the night. His feet were muddy, armed only with the rosary, collecting frightened people.”
