During the summer, most of us can be found on the lake, on the golf course or doing something else relaxing that we enjoy. However, that's not the case for Lake Norman High School graduate Lily Loughnane. Lily spends her summer doing what she loves most, which is joining a national marching band for Drum Corps. Not only will Lily dedicate around 12 hours a day to Drum Corps, but she will also spend all summer traveling the country with her marching band.

We were treated to a very special week, staying in the charming Villa Tormalina near Modica and exploring the southeastern portion of Sicily. Our itinerary began on Sunday with a visit to Noto, easing into the relaxed pace of villa life.”

This Tuesday we're featuring tennis players from The Point, Peninsula, River Run, and Lake Norman Racquet Club who came together and formed this state championship winning team. The Lake Region team won the 2024 NC Adult 18 & Over 3.5 Women's State Championship tournament held in June.

Point Neighbor Megan Chasnis wrote "If you know my husband Alex Chasnis, you know his love and dedication to his alma mater, The University of Michigan Wolverines, and all thing UM athletics, especially football and basketball. He graduated in 1995, enjoying the “Fab 5” in basketball, and Desmond Howard’s Heisman Trophy award-winning season during his tenure. After years of upsets and disappointments, the 2023 college football season appeared to possibly be the Michigan Wolverines' year to – just maybe – make it to the national championship game. It was New Year’s Day and coming down to the final play against Alabama. Were we going to finally make it or not? With a houseful of friends and family cheering on the Wolverines with us, they pulled it off! We knew instantly we wanted to do everything we could to get our family to the National Championship game taking place in Houston just seven days later. And we did!"

Pat DiTella's quilting journey spans three decades and can be traced back to the loving hands of her grandmother. It’s more than a hobby; it’s a source of creativity, purpose, and connection. Residing in our community since 2005, Pat, alongside her husband Phil, has woven her quilting passion into the fabric of their lives. Their story began in the hospital, where Phil, a physician, and Pat, a registered nurse, first met. “We got married in the hospital chapel surrounded by our combined five children, other family members, and many of the hospital staff,” Pat recalls. “We’ve been married over 32 years, and now have six grandchildren.”

A family of deer will devastate a rose garden, leaving nothing to bloom. This year, using a combination of techniques, I successfully built a rose garden that is blooming and which no deer have entered."
