LIFE UPDATE:
Next Friday will be my last day at KSNT/Fox 43 and my last day in the beautiful Sunflower state. We are moving out of state for a new journey!
No…I am not moving to another station as of right now. I debated posting all this, but I would like to share my story with you, so prepare for a sort of dramatic, long read. (Okay maybe you are actually reading an excerpt from my diary ha!)
I’m taking some time to focus on family! For those of you who may not know, this business is already a tough one. Many folks see the glam of the tv news business—but behind the scenes—we are working crazy, countless hours, meeting tough deadlines, and asking the hardest questions—that can take a toll on even the strongest person. But we do it because we love it, and are dedicated to serving our communities.
For a mom, it can be even tougher. There were many times throughout my career where I had to choose between being completely present for my family—or my career. In the midst of trying to have it all, I completely lost track of it all and found myself putting half effort into everything in order to make it by. Well, as we know, half effort doesn’t get you very far! 😂😂😂
As a mother, I began to mourn the Deneysha that once was. The Deneysha who could stay up all night, searching for ways to be greater, more innovative, more creative in this cut throat business. That Deneysha excelled. But when I chose to have a family, they lost out when I tried to tap into “that Deneysha.” And when I tried to balance and pivot to focus on my family, the little things that once made me great in my career slowly became a burden. Don’t get me wrong, some moms are amazing at balancing both. No matter how hard I tried,I could not. When we got the news of a new opportunity, I decided to take a step back and embrace the season that I am currently in—being mommy. While I am extremely sad to leave the community and the job I love behind, I’m excited to discover new opportunities that will allow me to be present for my family.
To my fellow mamas, or anyone who may feel a little “off track” in their lives—If you are reading this and hesitant to take on a new path because you don’t know where it will take you, do it. You never know, it may lead you to where your destiny truly lies.
I would like thank everyone for embracing me, and accepting me into your homes. Both in Northeast Kansas, as well as the Kansas City metro. Yes, I still have many of your letters, cards, and gifts that were sent to me throughout the years. I will cherish every hug or handshake in a random grocery store. Thank you to my KSNT/Fox 43 family for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime! Thank you to all the wonderful guests who sat down with me on Inside Kansas Politics. You all have been great to me. I love you. I will miss you. Who knows what is next for me, but I cannot wait to share it with you when that time comes.
Love, Deneysha ❤️
(P.S)-Thought I would share my little family. For those of you who remember, Baby Bee will be THREE next week.) would love to hear any stories from mamas who learned how to juggle it all in life!
