I think about this a lot. Yes, we’re products of our environment, but we also produce our environment. We actively create the world we live in now and we can collectively deny the status quo to change it.

I haven’t been posting very much since the end of season 2. I’ve taken a hiatus on podcasting due to the strain of keeping up with a regular schedule and promoting it on social media. Not to mention I know I did a disservice to my amazing guests by making them wait a long time for release. I aim to do better and continue sharing a brighter vision for all of us.

With my aversion to capitalism, I’ve been pretty cynical about Christmas. This year I’ve had a new perspective about what this season could truly be.. it could be a template for the systems and life we want to actually live. One of leisure, care, and joy. I’ve been paying attention to the Christmas music and movies lately and they always talk about how this season should last all year round, how we wish that joy and kindness could be all we do and care about.
Well it can be. All we have is each other and that is all we’ll ever need. By understanding each other and striving to hold everyone’s best interest at heart, we will inevitably reach a system better than this one. But we have to acknowledge the fundamental shift. We cannot be tricked into fearing our fellow human beings anymore. We must care about each other and we must seek a way to understand and help each other to bring the change we want to see. Please, you have to help me do this. None of us can make it happen alone. Talk to your neighbors, get to know them, no matter how awkward it may be. Care about your coworkers, the people you rely on everyday. Together we are stronger.

An important lesson I learned from a stranger on the internet. Revolution creates a cyclical pattern. We’ve seen violence used for systemic change all throughout history and we keep landing back in situations of mass subjugation and oppression. We need a new means of change. We need enough solidarity to transcend the problems of our past and raise the global consciousness. It will be extremely difficult, some may say impossible, but the alternative is an endless cycle of pain and destruction. Which would you prefer?
