More than 10 years in the making, Darker Than Wax is the culmination of years of gigging, producing, hustling to get signed, exploring, growing, touring, drinking and endless hours of coffee shop banter between label owners DJ Funk Bast*rd and electronic musician/producer Kaye. Runn

ing the pioneer website in Singapore for all things left, underground and soulful, danceandsoul.com was an inheritance which unfortunately never grew to it's full potential. It definitely played it's role in the scene, attracting all serious music heads who happen to love partying as well, exposing Asia and the rest of the world (as much as their poor, overworked servers could handle) to like minded international radio shows which they host on the site, and throwing the odd party with the sole intention of brainwashing people with their unique brand of music. It was great while it lasted, but it wasn't quite there yet. Like most good things in life, they take time to mature and age. With Darker Than Wax, the stock has been reduced to its most concentrated form. Darker Than Wax is basically a statement. A statement on the pervasiveness of black music and the influence it has had on countless genres and sub genres. A statement that it's all about bringing it into the future. A statement that music should have depth. A statement that your racial/genetic/cultural make-up is irrelevant - only your soul is.

Here it is!
Quite possibly the biggest collective effort in 🇸🇬!
We are sending off one of the most iconic buildings in the urban fabric of Singapore with some of the finest music collectives taking over 5 rooms al night long!
Golden Mile Complex was designed by the trio of William Lim, Tay Kheng Soon and Gan Eng Oon, and is embedded with metabolist ideals that have stood the test of time and cultivated a thriving underbelly and mixed ecosystem of residents, shops, restaurants, nighttime spaces and the like. It’s a bittersweet affair but we are doing what we can to celebrate this moment.

In the ‘Bad Room’, native New Yorkers DJ Tara (), Sunny Cheeba (), and Texas born / Brooklyn based fleet.dreams (.dreams) keep things moving.

🌀Absorbing the sounds of New York since her birth in Brooklyn, DJ Tara spins a collage of sounds that captures the eclectic vibe of modern New York life.

🔅Sunny Cheeba's everyday soundtrack and diverse record collection reflect the pulse of her Bronx, New York heritage. Sunny digs the depths of thrift stores, record shops, and crates from local street vendors to build her music collection. Her favorite finds range from Funk, Soul, Jazz, Disco, Salsa Reggae, Hip-Hop, Afro-House, Dance and everything in between.

🧪 Producer/deejay fleet.dreams has got the touch; a carefully cultivated craft for dancefloor productions that has provided some of the more uniquely enjoyable American house music in recent memory. Fresh off a two year stint in Detroit sharing bills with folks like Macho City/No Way Back mainstay Scott Zacharias and regularly studying sets from local masters such as Rick Wilhite, Norm Talley, Marcellus Pittman and Dez Andrés, fleet.dreams made his way east, landing in NYC just as the city was falling into pandemic lockdown.

Expect big dancefloor moments, with Ayesha digging deep across techno, breaks, garage, and all the areas between.

🔅Darker Than Wax's own Marco Weibel is a connector in the truest sense of the word. Known for co-hosting the ever-eclectic DTW FM every Saturday on The Lot Radio, his selections traverse a range of sounds, often jumping from dub to chicago house to jungle in a single session—a testament to his deep crates and skilled mixing.

🌀 anu is London based DJ and illustrator, known for her fortnightly show on NTS, bringing a seamless colorful palette of music to the table each time. Expect the unexpected!

🌀 Ayanna Heaven is a DJ / Radio producer and artist based between Brooklyn and Jamaica - her musical heritage deeply entrenched in sound system culture - she brings a passion and the cachet of a diverse background to her DJ aesthetics.

🌀 Marco Weibel heads up the US operations for DTW as well as co-host the weekly DTWFM show on The Lot Radio. His selections traverse a range of sounds, exploring old and new underground styles in the spirits of educating and entertaining dancers.
