Januario Augsto Maocha II was arrested after kidnapping a male for $400 ransom when male was lured into hotel room. The victims father was contacted the the suspect demanding a ransom payment via Cashapp. The victim's father contacted Pooler police to investigate the crime. Police searched the area that the victim could possibly be until they found the victim's car at an different location that the suspect gave. Police then located the suspect and arrested him by use of force. Maocha was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, burglary, possession of a weapon during a crime, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, obstruction, and possession of methamphetamine.

Tragedy struck on Friday morning February 24th shortly before 3am after two cars collided in a wrong-way crash. The crash caused the deaths of 3 people on Leroy Coffer in Hinesville, Ga. 24-year-old Alexandria Freeman of Hinesville and 33-year-old Jason Carmon of Richmond Hill were in a car together when they crossed over into the wrong direction colliding with Michael Shundrea Brooks (43) of Hinesville. All 3 died at the scene of the crash.

Jerome Milton was arrested and charged with aggravated battery On January 28th, 2023. Milton & the victim went to The Avenue Bar and Grill off waters avenue at 2am. Before they could enter the building, an argument erupted. The victim claimed that she seen Milton hugging a woman and confronted Milton over the contact. The woman then slapped Milton 3 times in the face which caused him to retaliate. Milton punched his girlfriend in the face and bit off piece of her ear outside of the bar. The woman later retreated and went home a few hours later only for Milton to show up hours after. Police were then called due to the woman's claim of fear and safety.

Savannah Police arrested 3 men to the November 2022 homicide death of Mykel Price. Malik Grant was charged with party to a crime of murder & party to a crime of aggravated assault. Marquis Grant was charged with party to a crime murder and party to a crime aggravated assault. Mikell Sanders was charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Quinten Jenkins is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and theft by taking a motor vehicle. in the July 2022 homicide of Malik Green.

A Savannah Man, Kelvin Waye, was acquitted on murder charges in the April 7th 2020 homicide case of Roderick Matthews.

Chatham county police investigated an home-invasion turned deadly in Bloomingdale, Ga. The alleged intruder was shot dead. The homeowner survived his gunshot wounds.

Tiana Wilson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while committing a crime after a New Years Day confrontation that turned into a high speed chase. Wilson became upset after when she realized a phone charger didn't belong to her or the ex-girlfriend appeared at the residence. A verbal altercation turned into a car chase after the victim left the residence and took off in her car to call police, but to only be pursued by Wilson with a gun. Wilson was arrested after police intercepted the vehicles. No bond has been set and her next court appearance will be February 16th.

Xavier Dennis & Cameron Blige have both been sentenced to life in prison for the February 13, 2021 homicide of Freddie Wallace aka "Fredo Cash." Dennis was also charged with an additional 5 years to his sentence.

Three out of four men involved in the September 12, 2016 murder of Dominique Powell has pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them. Dominique Powell was a victim of an attempted robbery 5 days prior to his death. The unsentenced man, Arthur Newton, will stand trial starting on Tuesday.

Ebony Drayton (29) was shot & killed on the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue around 11pm on December 23rd. Another man, Anthony Jackson, was shot but survived his injuries. The shooter, Devante Daniels, then fled to Randolph street where police determined he killed himself after the double shooting.

On December 15th 2022, Natalie Sampayo was shot inside of European Wax Center off Mall Blvd. She was rushed to Memorial Hospital where she later died. Savannah police identified and arrested 22 year old Alphonso Xavier Irving with her homicide. Police determined that they were in a relationship but motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined.
