When we said the Rareshide sentencing was historic, we were not joking. Since her sentencing that included jail time, we are seeing jail time (even if suspended) pop up in more cases. Between Chad Thiem back in September and Mischa Shoe yesterday, Rareshide changed the landscape for equine cruelty cases in the state.

Charges were dropped against David Shoe
Mischa Shoe has been convicted of 5 counts of animal cruelty. She is banned from owning animals in the state of Virginia, will pay restitution and received four months of suspended jail time.

This is HUGE. Precedent for cruelty to horses in this state officially changed.

Byrd Rareshide has been sentenced to JAIL time.
One year with 11 months and ten days suspended per count. (Total of 100 days)

She is not allowed to board horses for 5 years.

Restitution is being paid on two counts.

The state vet, animal control and police can search/seize without warning.

Amanda Stanton has been charged with 4 counts of animal cruelty (Felony) and 4 counts of over riding/overloading.
In conjunction, Claire Grygotis has also been charged with 8 counts of over riding/overloading.
No trial date has been set yet.

Charges have been dropped against Donald Davis and Kelly Valko.

Once again, it is up to Prince William County to do something. We encourage everyone to put pressure on PWC to take up the case and do a thorough investigation.

Do we have any contacts in PA? We have been in contact with a confidential informant about a farm in York county. Animals with out feed, SPCA has been called and emailed several times and it’s the same “toss hay for a day” story. It appears as if one mini has expired during the cold snap.

Anyone with any contacts please reach out to us. The informants believe these animals to be in imminent danger.

The following charges have been filed against the following in relation to the Bay Ridge Seizure that occurred in March of 2023.
Mischa Koster Shoe -5 counts of animal cruelty. (Horses)
David Shoe- 5 counts of animal cruelty (horses)
Alexis Nicole Farris- 5 counts of animal cruelty (horses and sheep)
Amanda Stanton- 19 counts of animal cruelty ( cats, horses, donkey, sheep, goats).
