Well, the new talking point out of Washington is, "Just because gas prices are high, that doesn't mean we don't have a strong economy." Really? When people can't afford to drive to work, when diesel is so high that we see weekly price increases in stores to cover the skyrocketing transportation costs, when farmers can't plant because of the high price of fuel when the NASDAQ is down over 30% for the year? Well, the Dow is down over 16% for the year, another 876 points down yesterday. The NASDAQ is down over 30% for the year. Depending on where your money is, this can amount to 5 to 10 years of lost retirement or even more. Recession? Yes...the fluffy puppy index says so. During good times pet owners buy their pets treats and gifts like fancy collars and sweaters, chew toys and bouncy balls, but when things get tight with money, they cut back on non-essential pet spending. Analysts follow this spending and call it the fluffy puppy index and it says we are heading into a recession. Then there's the credit card numbers. People are running up their credit card balances. Wednesday, February 16th, all major banks in Canada went offline. ATM machines ran out of money, online banking went down, internal systems went down and tellers couldn't process requests. Why? The government created a bank run or a run on the banks. They started freezing accounts of people they considered protestors and even with hundreds of years of history on bank runs, they didn't realize they were creating one. When people hear that millions of dollars are being seized in bank accounts, who didn't think the public would start pulling every penny they had out of banks? Were they that ignorant or did they simply not care? It was only back in 2015 that Greece created their run on the banks.

The Federal Reserve sets an emergency meeting for Monday, Valentine's day. It will be a closed meeting. Even with the lies, inflation numbers came in too high and they have to circle the wagons. That affects the reelection chances for anyone that has anything to do with this administration. Biden's approval rate is at a record low.

Federal Reserve insider, Joseph Wang suggests the Federal Reserve wants to crash the stock market. They want it to crash as slowly as possible, but still drop significantly. There are a lot of reasons for that, one is it would slow inflation, another is their member banks and friends could ride it up and profit. When the market is at all time highs there isn't much further it can go. Tech company CEO's and insiders have got out of the market, they could get back in if it dropped and had room to grow again. Then there is the election coming up, a market crash is bad for votes, but skyrocketing inflation is worse. I keep warning people. Today, Saturday 22nd, 2022 is the day that truck drivers must have vaccinations to enter the United States. This will affect about 38,000 truck loads a day and insure we will continue to see shortages. The truck driver shortage was already a crisis.

I mentioned this scary possibility a couple of months ago and also had a segment on the show. We are seeing more signs they are working toward rationing and price controls. Over and over in history we see this causes even more shortages and even starvation. If companies can't raise prices to match their costs from inflation they won't produce. Governments never learn from history. The road to ignorance is paved with shortages, starvation and poverty.

This is sort of an Emergency post. It is to correct information the government originally gave out. We were told the Medicare part B premium would be $158.50, a $10 a month increase and big for an increase, but Friday they announced it will be $170.10, more than double the original increase they announced. There are copay and deductible increases too. This is what I have been talking about, they have to cut benefits and raise prices because the government programs are going broke. Did you ever think you would see a shortage of Jell-o? That is where we are now. The same things affect Jell-o that affect other products. Raw Materials, Labor, Transportation, Distribution, all in turmoil. Many stores are completely out and others have very few selections or stock.

Soon the weather will be cold. If your power goes out here is a tip to keep your food cold inside. Place containers of water outside and let them freeze overnight, then rotate them through your refrigerator or freezer. Open your frig or freezer as little as possible to keep the cold in and the warm out.

The power is most likely to be out in times of winter storms, so you might make the cold in this case work for you. If there is snow, you can cover food in the snow, but make sure it is safe from animals and keep an eye on it so you will know if it thaws or warms.

If you have extra room in your freezer, then keep a few gallon jugs of water frozen in the freezer. This can extend how long it will stay cold and an extra jug can be moved to the refrigerator.

We just got the word. Social Security payments will go up 5.9% due to inflation. I ran the numbers and it came out to about 6.2% based on inflation, but no one thought they would go the full amount, but it is the biggest increase since 1982

New Zealand is busting gang members for smuggling contraband into cities during the strict covid lock downs. What are they smuggling? Fast Food. One gang arrest centered around a trunk full of Kentucky Fried Chicken being smuggled into New Zealand's largest town. Auckland New Zealand is locked down with the most strict lockdown in the country, meaning all restaurants are closed. Gangs have turned from drugs to a larger market, people that want fast food. Police found buckets of chicken, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, french fries and the equivalent of $70,000 as figured in American money. It isn't just chicken, police have been arresting people for trying to smuggle McDonalds meals into Auckland too.

A team of Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Britain and U.S. researchers conducted experiments to determine whether it is safer to airlift a rhinoceros with the animal upside-down. The answer, “We found that suspending rhinos by their feet is safer than we thought,” Said Dr. Robin Radcliffe, a researcher in the study. It turns out that airlifting a rhinoceros upside down is no more dangerous than right side up, which actually can be pretty dangerous to you, if not the rhinoceros. Thankfully seven countries have come together to work together and agree on something.

Why is Janet Yellen calling on Congress to raise or eliminate the debt ceiling by August 2nd? Because the treasury is down to just over $700 billion dollars and at the rate they are spending it, that won't last long! You soon may have more money in your checking account than the US treasury. If they don't raise it, she may go after money in programs like Social Security and Medicare. You know, give them some IOU's...
