I think the fact that I’m nearly one month LATE posting about this episode answers the question for me. 😂 As much as I love doing the podcast, I’m simply s**t at social media and I often get busy in my own world so I forget to post that there’s an episode out! My bad y’all.

If you haven’t listened to it already, or if you’re just stumbling across my pod, this is an interesting topic for thought. I hate when parents rely on their title as “mom” or “dad” for their whole personality, so I tend to feel the same about being childfree.

What do you think? Do people know you as that childfree person? Or do you have several things that you could use to describe yourself? How would someone describe you?

So tell me. What will YOUR legacy be? What will be your impact on the world? Or do you even care to leave a legacy behind (LOTS of people don’t)…Why are we, as a society, so obsessed with leaving a legacy??

After my chat with I’m really starting to feel all wanderlusty and want to start planning my next escape from home! What are some things YOU look for when booking childfree travel? Have you learned any tips that the rest of us really should know about?

My personal favorite thing about travelling without kids is that I can fit so much more stuff in if I want to! No prepping and spending hours getting kids ready or having to change plans because someone is throwing a tantrums. Also, fewer bathroom breaks. 😂

Y’all why did I wake up feeling petty today!? 😂 I usually try to mind my own business 🧿 because I like to let karma do what it needs to do, BUT….

Am the only one who sometimes thinks I’d like the haters to have MORE kids so they can be more tired or more boring or have less free time or whatever. 😂

Then they can hate me MORE while I’m over here sipping my wine watching them juggle 17 kids. 👋🏼😉🥂

I feel like we’ve all been there at some point or another…you know…when someone uses your childfree status as a reason why *you* should do more work, or spend more money, or put in more effort. To help out the struggling parents, obviously. 🙄

Have you ever gotten to a point in your work life or in other relationships where you’ve had to put your foot down and set boundaries for people who may be taking advantage of you simply because you’re childfree? 🙅🏽‍♀️

It’s been a helluva last few weeks for me! Not because anything particularly crazy, but just because my anxiety was all over the place!

This week I decided to face it and share with you all where my head’s at and how being childfree is actually beneficial when we go through weird times in our lives.

I’ve been having a few weird weeks of just feeling…bleh. Times like this make me realize that I do need to look out for myself to keep myself sane and happy. I don’t think I would be able to be the kind of parent that a child deserves because sometimes I just don’t want to do anything at all. Much less child stuff. Can anyone relate?

Because the hate/debate seems to be never ending, the solution actually is quite simple: if you don’t like terms like “furbaby” = Don’t use them. If you do like these types of terms = Use them.

And then…[drumroll] Leave the people who are on the opposite side alone.

There’s no right or wrong here.

I don’t personally use these types of terms in everyday conversation but I have used them occasionally and I understand the sentiment. My dogs are my family. Who cares what terms of endearment people use.

It’s no different from any other nickname. If someone has ever called their partner/spouse “babe” or “baby”….surely they can understand that it’s not meant literally.

Let me tell you a fun story: In high school a LOT of people called me Princess. Some people still do to this day. Did/do those people believe that I am of noble birth? No. Did people shout at me that I should not be using Royal titles to describe myself? No. Because we all had the cognitive ability to know that no one believed that I was an actual real life literal princes. It was a term of endearment.

Nicknames, titles, and such are personal choices. Who are we to force our opinions (either way) on other people? You do you.

Personally, I don’t care if someone wants to have a baby…but I definitely don’t want it clogging up my feeds! Am I the only one who unfollows people if they start posting too much pregnancy/baby/child-related content??

ALSO, same with my fave Insta-celebrities. They go from having great substance and quality posts to purely baby talk. Why?? 😩

Seems like certain people always want to be inside other people’s wallets! Have you ever experienced a parent expressing that they deserve financial breaks or that we, the childfree, are automatically RICH since we don’t have to pay for children?

Part of life is taking care of your finances. If you can’t afford it, decide whether you really need it - that goes for shoes, extra avocado on the side, and children. They’re all choices. 🤭

Tokophobia. For a lot of us, this is one of the reasons why we choose not to have kids. I have it to some extent but I know some of you have it worse!

How has tokophobia affected your life and your decision regarding children? Share some of your symptoms so we know we’re not alone!

For me, I get very queasy, faint, and my heart feels like it drops out of my chest when I try to imagine myself being pregnant. I’m very pain adverse so the obvious pain factor gives me a ton of anxiety. 😩😬

Episode 11 is ready now and y’all I was not ready for this interview with my husband, Nathan! We laughed, we cried (he cried), and we learned that rap lyrics shaped some of our childfree choices. 😂

This one is over TWICE as long as my solo episodes because I just couldn’t bring myself to cut out some very interesting topics!

One of the MANY reasons I don’t want kids is because I just don’t want to have to teach someone how to be a human. The thought of it sounds legit exhausting.

Not to mention how many parents FAIL at teaching young minds how to behave in personal and social settings.

I don’t think enough importance is placed on the actual responsibility of educating a child while it’s developing and that, my friends, is part of the reason why there are so many s**tty people out there. No thanks.

People often say that we don’t know what we’re missing by not having children. I say: What have you accomplished or achieved because you DIDN’T have children?

For me, I never would have been able to move to Australia and never would have met my husband. And now that I’ve met him, we wouldn’t be able to live stress-free lives - which is what we both need for our mental and physical health.

It’s important to remember what works for YOU and if skipping the kid thing means you get to live a fulfilling life in other ways, how can that be a bad thing?

😱 Ok, I know it may not seem like a lot (this isn’t Serial or anything), but when I published the first episode of Childfree Chats two months ago, I honestly didn’t know if anyone would listen.

But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: 🗣 The childfree community really knows how to show up for each other!!
