This Holiday, Thomas and Tim welcomed their new son Amire (14 at the time) to their family. The three have nonstop fun together, and Amire is keeping them busy!
After completing the Adoption Impact training several years ago, the couple had initially opted for a child between the ages of 7 to 11. After a lack of responses from tons of submitted kid inquiries within Georgia as well as outside of Georgia, becoming extremely discouraged and several caseworker changes the couple had decided to cancel their application completely. Until one evening after discussing their life plans and realizing defeat was not an option they both agreed to change their age categories and consider an older child. They visited the Heart Gallery page and after viewing Amires video submitted an inquiry. Surprisingly the Alabama caseworker called back the very next day! Requesting their home study and caseworkers contact information. Within that week Alabama caseworkers had several calls with them, discussing Amires needs and interviewing them. About 3 weeks later they requested the two create an “About Us” booklet to present to Amire! Two weeks later they were informed that Amire was interested in speaking with them! The call was scheduled and coordinated with the amazing Foster Family. After the first call, they were both excited about getting to know more about this young, we’ll mannered, quiet spirit. The weekly calls turned into every day calls initiated by Amire, causing a bigger excitement! February 2021 they had the pleasure of meeting him face to face! The couple traveled to Alabama and spent the day with Amire at Top Golf! A great time was had by all! At the end of the day after returning Amire to the Foster family Thomas as well as Tim agreed; “This is our Son!”
The visits increased to every other weekend quickly and then involved Amire traveling to Georgia for weekend visits. In April 2021 Amire was placed in their care awaiting ICPC and their forever family became official on their 5th Wedding Anniversary (National Adoption Month) November 18,2021!
Amire steps into the next chapters of his life with the unconditional support and love of family! This holiday, he’ll have someone to celebrate with. If his heart is broken, he’ll have shoulders to cry on, when he graduates, he’ll have parents to be proud of him all thanks to Heart Gallery and Alabama DHR Team! “This is our Holiday Love Story.”
