-Nyatapola Mandir , Bhaktapur

Nyatapola is a five-storeyed ancient temple that makes each Bhaktapurians feel so proud. People may have very little knowledge about Bhaktapur city. But, within that tatter of knowledge, they put a page where the mysterious stories of Nyatapola always breathe.

Some interesting facts about the Nyatapola temple
1-The temple is not associated with any Jatras or the Guthi. That sounds quite unusual cause almost all of the important temples are associated with the jatras as well as with the Guthis and Bhajans. Especially in Bhaktapur.
2-Because of its five stories, it is locally denominated as a Panch Tale Mandir. Where, those five stories indicate the earth, water, fire, air, and the sky from down to up respectively.
3-Similarly, Nyatapola the name itself means the five-stroyed, where Nyata means five, and Pola means the tiers in Newa bhasa.
4-Also, this grand temple stands as the tallest Nepalese roofing-styled temple of Bhaktapur. As well as Nepal with a height of 33meters.
4-The whole structure of Nyatapola was raised within 214 days. During that era, meanwhile, there was no advanced construction equipment at all.
5-It is said that the wind bells hanged around the tiers of Nyatapola were in several 529. But placing them in the numbers 48, 80, 104, 128, and 168, from top to bottom respectively, outlasts a wind bell. That was then, considered as the unfortunate one wind bell. And, the fact is that till today no one knows about it, whether where it was placed. Or, what did happen to it?

NavaDurgas with the Naki ( Female Leader) during Bhagasti ( last day )
Navadurga are the nine forms of Durga ( incarnation of goddess parvati).
In Bhakapur, the names are respectively as: Brahmayini, Maheswari , Kumari, Bhadrakali, Barahi, Indrayani, Mahakali, Mahalaxmi, Tripurasundari.
The first eight goddesses are also called Astramatrikas. The temples of the Astramatrikas surrounds Bhaktapur. Tripurasundari is located nearly at the center of the core city. this stares how well organised the city planning was .
The masks of the goddesses along with masks of Ganesh , Sima , Duma , Balkumari , Mahadev and Suti(Šwæt) - Bhairav are carved at Yachhen Tole during the Dashain festival, the masks are taken to the Brahmayini temple and exhibited there.
It is supposed to be the time when the goddesses are born. After Dashain, the goddesses are taken round the core city of Bhaktapur during night time.
Folklore has it that in the 14th century , the Nava Durgas ( 9 demonic manifestation of Parvati in Ta***ic tradition ) used to live in the Jwala Forest in between Bhaktapur and NALA!! but they devoured any creature that crossed their path !!
So 2 Rajopadhyaya priest Somana and Sunanda , using their great knowledge of Ta**ra Vidya controlled them and set up a temple solely dedicated to them and authorised the BANMALA cast to take over all the rituals from worshiping to enacting them to playing the traditional music in the annual Nawa Durga dance .
The cyclic Rituals Start on Gathyamuga and end on BhalBhal Asthami ( nearly 9 months of performance and rituals)at different NEWA settlements .
the dances not only depict godly stories but also social messages of gender Equality , sharing work and food , keeping surrounding clean , eating healthy as well as not be involved in explicit activities !
The Main internal administrative work is all handled by one Female Lead called the NAKI and her role is pivotal in smooth functioning of all the proceedings from start to end .
