Famous Artist singer Dawit Nega has passed away.

Famous Artist Dawit Nega performed on Sunday, June 5, 2014. His closest friends and relatives said he had passed away that evening.

He said he was admitted to Addis Hiwot Hospital in Addis Ababa on Friday due to a sudden illness.

He was taken to hospital on Friday after suffering a flu-like illness last Monday and was being treated until Saturday.
Friends and relatives told the BBC he had been admitted to the intensive care unit on Sunday afternoon and died at around 1pm.

It is said that before coming to the hospital, David used to take glucose at home to relieve his pain.

When he was admitted to hospital, he was diagnosed with diabetes and pneumonia.

Friends and relatives of the deceased told the BBC that further inquiries would be made into the body of David, who had died yesterday.
