In response to the escalating gender-based violence crisis in Botswana, a pioneering initiative dubbed the "GBV Emergency Intervention Program" has been launched, targeting women in remote communities. This programme goes beyond traditional measures by focusing on economic empowerment, self-defense training, and educating boys to change attitudes toward GBV from an early age. This discussion explores how the initiative aims to ignite a nationwide dialogue that not only condemns violence against women but also challenges deep-rooted societal norms. It assesses whether this comprehensive strategy can make a tangible impact on reducing GBV and improving community safety across Botswana.
