Ocean City Fire shared the following message and photos from Baltimore, following the funeral of 3 fallen firefighters. Ocean City also sent an engine crew and command support to fill critical areas so that personnel from Baltimore stations could attend the funeral.

“For many people, today is Wednesday. But for Firefighters across our United States and, in particular, our brothers and sisters of the Baltimore City Fire Department, it’s an emotional day, a day of remembrance and celebration of life for Lieutenant Paul Butrim, Lieutenant Kelsey Sadler, and Firefighter / Paramedic Kenneth Lacayo.

While we had an engine crew, and command leadership in Baltimore City running calls for service, members also attended the memorial services. One thing that stuck out today was the patch worn by hundreds of . It reads, “Pride Protecting People.” Today, we saw their pride. Despite death being a reality faced by each and every firefighter on every call, Baltimore City Firefighters are back at it- on their engines, ladders, ambulances, and rescues serving and protecting people.

May we all take a moment tonight to think of and pray for the families of the fallen and the entire Baltimore City Fire Department.”
