Perspectives, is an upcoming magazine run entirely by the students of various schools and colleges of Kolkata. It is an entirely independent venture, free from all external control (political, economical as well as institutional). We are here to promote all forms of creativity and debating spirit and promote a new type of multi faceted, inquisitive journalism. However, we also intend to promote Pe
rspectives as a forum for the development of the arts and organise programmes. We intend to promote young talent and give them a platform to make their presence felt among the youth community. The idea of this magazine is a product of the assimilation of certain thoughts. We believe that many of us have literary talent and more importantly opinions. We are expressing them everywhere from blogs, to "adda zones" to pages and groups. But then, such endevours rarely lead to any tangible results and is limited to a very small audience. Now the point is, that why not assimilate these ideas, views and opinions and put them down in one institutionalised platform where they can be read, circulated and debated upon by a large number of people? Moreover, why not scratch our heads a little more and see, if a new way of thinking is possible? Other the aforesaid benefits, it also proves for a platform to showcase literary talent as it is a creative canvas. The USP of our magazine is that we PURPOSELY do not speak in one voice or have make a particular stand!! We offer a plethora of views and opinions of different people to the world. And let people know the perspectives, let them make an "Introspection Beyond Binaries". It is because we tend to explore beyond the extremes of both the conventional partisanship and also try to become a hotbed which can potentially cultivate new ideas beyond binaries of opinion and thought. The pernicious ways of stagnancy of thoughts in our society can mainly be attributed to the lack lack of novelty in thought and our nefarious practice of following what others do. Seldom do we question what others are saying. Even rarer are instances when we dare to think beyond the realms of the established schools of thought. Rarely do we believe that there might be other ways of thinking or more importantly, other ways of looking and things. Perspectives aims at shattering these inhibitions and instilling that confidence in a person that yes, such things are not only possible but quintessential for the progress of human thought. We seek to promote an atmosphere of enquiry and scope for perpetual development of ideas and creativity across all spheres. Perspectives is a Bilingual magazine, publishing articles in both English and Bengali.
