In this episode, Mark Feldbush and I welcome his daughter Tegwen on the show to discuss the seminal yet obscure album Shaded Pain by the Lifesavers Underground. This album is in the top five albums that shaped my future musical tastes during my late teen years. If you’ve never heard of Lifesavers Underground (L.S.U) but like Bahaus, Peter Murphy, The Mission UK and bands of that ilk, you should definitely check them out. Thanks so much to those who listen and keep coming back for more. Peace & Love to All!

Part 2 episode of Jamie and I's chat on THE OCEAN BLUE's dreamy Cerulean album has dropped! Come check it out! Peace to you all!

In this episode, Jamie Harmon and I finish up our discussion of Cerulean, the sophomore release from the band The Ocean Blue. Greetings Fellow Earth Babies! A new episode has just dropped so check it out! In this episode I chat with Jim Anderson who creates music under the name AIRDALE. We had a fantastic conversation about his post-punk musical influences, his high school band The Mourning, his current project AIRDALE and our favorite releases by The Church. I really had a blast talking to Jim who is a man after my own post-punk heart. If you love The Cure, New Order, The Church and other post-punk/new wave bands from the 80’s you will dig the music of AIRDALE as much as I do. Be sure to check it out wherever you get your podcasts!

Hello Fellow Earth Babies! In this episode, I do a follow up to Episode 005 - What is Post-punk and welcome to the Post-punk Heartstrings State of Mind– In that episode, I gave my own personal definition of post-punk and offered my pick for the first post-punk album released. After the episode, I received the following feedback from a listener: “Enjoyed this episode! I'd have been interested in more explication on what are the hallmarks of post-punk and why Television, Talking Heads, etc. were not counted. What exactly were the classic rock sounds you heard to keep them from being counted as a true post-punk album.” So, I decided to do a follow up episode to explain a little more and provide some examples of why I excluded some of the releases the listener mentioned.

Do you ever get a song stuck in your head for months? I've had the song Buried Alive by Echo & The Bunnymen popping into my head at random times for the past several months.

I finally decided it was time to go revisit this track this morning and feed my subconscious cravings.

This song is a beautifully touching and under-appreciated work from the Bunnymen and I realize today that I have misheard a lyric in the song. I always thought he was singing, "somewhere under a devil moon..." but it's actually "somewhere under a Delvaux moon" and I think he is probably referring to the painter, Paul Delvaux who including different phases of the moon in a number of his works and also called one of his works, "Phases of the Moon." I had never heard of Delvaux so thank you Echo and the Bunnymen for introducing me to a new artist.

My favorite lines from this song are in the chorus,

"Hey now, hey now
Don't you cry
It's just the dying of the light
Time to say our goodbyes
I'll look for you in that goodnight"

This song not only makes me think of death and moving on to another plane of existence but also of processing and accepting the difficult and grief inducing times of this life and peacefully moving forward to a new day.

If you haven't heard this track from the Bunnymen album Flowers, you should go check out the melancholic beauty.

I leave you with a couple of Delvaux painting featuring the moon.

Peace to all!

Greetings Fellow Earth Babies! The latest episode has just dropped! In this episode, Jamie Harmon returns and we discuss The Police’s new wave/post-punk/Jazz master work Synchronicity. The influence of The Police on later post-punk bands is often overlooked and Synchronicity displays the band at their most eclectic and chaotic. In spite of the infighting, the band was able to put together the #1 album in the country.

Greetings Fellow Earth Babies! I hope you all are feeling peace and love out there in the midst of all that life brings. ✌ ❤

I am wrapping up the 2nd half of my conversation with Mark Feldbush on Echo & The Bunnymen's The Stars, The Oceans and The Moon and how each transformed track stacks up against the original version. I hope to drop that episode early next week.

Right now, I'm headed out to spend some much needed time "walking in the woods with a friend" as Steve Hindalong would put it.

Looking forward Scott Brown!

Get out there and make healthy attachments folks!

Peace and love to you all!
