CAST PROFILE:

Farmer by day turns stripper by night.

Jak’s got it all and he’s not afraid to show it off. He first hit the stage back in 2011, and since then he’s had the chance to perform on a wiiiiiiiide variety of stages, from local bars all the way to World Pride and major burlesque festivals.

Previously a member of Canada’s Capital King he is now part of the O-Town Packers, the only drag king troupe in Ottawa. Together with his brothers, Jak has been an advocate for the drag king community for over a decade.

Meet Ottawa’s bad boy with the most (ass)ets, Jak Ammer! He’ll be flaunting everything he’s got at the on October 18th as part of Drag Me To Hollywood. Just remember the one rule:

Drag Me To Hollywood is an ALL DRAG KING spectacular that will take the audience on a journey with enormous red carpet energy, a touch of film noir, and some big, stupid, campy fun.

What a night.

To our incredible cast, our generous volunteers, .photography, , and each and every person who bought a ticket, thank you.

Sixteen months ago, four best friends set out to do something different and weird and wonderful with the art forms that brought us together. Turns out that our artist community is pretty different and weird and wonderful too. We are forever grateful that you gave us a chance.

Hey friends!  With Into The Sparkleverse just two sleeps away, we wanted to make a quick announcement about our door time and start time.

Long story short: they’re REALLY firm.

Our friends at the Bytowne Cinema have been incredibly gracious in giving us the time we need to pull off an event that is quite different from what they’re accustomed to hosting. In return, we’d like to hold up our end of the agreement, which is to be out of the building in a timely fashion.

As a result, we will be opening doors at 8:30PM and starting the show at 9 PM on the dot.

If you arrive late, you are still more than welcome to join us! Just know that the show will be in progress, and you may have missed some context clues that help the Sparkleverse make sense to us mere mortals. Additionally, when deciding when to leave for the show, DO NOT bank on the assumption that 9:00 PM is actually 9:20 PM in artist time.

When NASA launched Apollo 11, they planned the launch down to the minute. The Sparkleverse is much farther away than the moon, and while technology has advanced since 1969, we will follow suit in terms of punctuality.

Meet Rhapsody Blue (): The Guardian

Our final headliner needs no introduction, but deserves an extensive one. We’ll attempt here to split the difference.

Rhapsody is a decorated performance artist, instructor, educator and producer in the cabaret space. Affectionately known as the Bombest Bo**ie in the Book Club, she has toured internationally, performing a unique mixture of burlesque and circus arts at festivals across Canada and the United States. The Kingston resident is also a highly accomplished event host and emcee.

While Rhapsody’s performance resume is extensive, it is equalled - if not surpassed - by her impact as a producer and talent builder. From 2015 to 2020, Rhapsody produced Burlesque Wednesdays, a weekly variety show in Ottawa that served as the proving ground for countless local artists (including most of the Shameless Creatives partners) who would not be where they are without the opportunities she provided. Today, she is a part of Limestone City Burlesque, a Kingston-based burlesque collective, and she works with Kingston Circus arts as an instructor.

It is so fitting that Rhapsody, ever a powerful force for good in the cabaret space, would serve as The Guardian, who is tasked with defending the Sparkleverse against those who would wish it ill.

Meet Lolo Merlot (): The Ambassador

When humanity needs to negotiate with otherworldly beings and the greatest heroes of legend, we bring in the big guns. By “big guns”, we mean the most charming person you’ve ever met in your life.  An local powerhouse with over eight years in the industry, Lolo Merlot is full bodied and sure to make you blush. Her endless legs and voluminous curls strike an exceptional figure, but it’s her effortless charisma that you quickly come to appreciate most. Whether you’re shooting whisky or savouring a glass of her namesake red wine, a minute in her presence will linger in your mind for the rest of the night.

When she’s not bartering for the fate of human existence, Lolo hosts and co-produces Basement Burlesque, Ottawa’s only monthly variety show monthly at the iconic . The show runs on the third Saturday of every month, featuring a mix of up and coming talent and established titans of the industry. Meet Canary Quinn ( ): The Rebel

Canary Quinn is what would happen if Welcome to the Black Parade could wear tassels and had great legs. The embodiment of DIY punk in Ottawa’s burlesque scene, Canary has been snatching hearts on cabaret stages across Ontario and Quebec since 2016 with acts that range from frenetic odes to their punk routes to seductive teases over riverboat anthems. In 2018 and 2019, they co-produced Iliac, a series of variety shows featuring art from a variety of mediums centred around common themes of eroticism. They are also one of the founding partners of Shameless Creatives.

Canary’s endeavours in producing are routed in their desire to tell stories through the cabaret arts, as well as provide a level playing field for all people who aspire to take the stage, especially neurodivergent folks who often face barriers to performing. Their commitment to manufacturing free dopamine through art is littered throughout everything they do, and may or may not have included rhinestoning a baseball bat.

This refusal to accept the status quo is what makes Canary the perfect Rebel. The Rebel lives for stomping on convention and spinning established norms on their head, and Canary Quinn does that and more without messing with their flawless makeup.  Come see The Rebel enter, f**k s**t up, and leave on March 31st for Into The Sparkleverse. Meet Sam Smitten: The Prince ()

Sam is as sultry a lad as you’ll find on a drag stage. His silky smooth personality is matched only by the smoothness of his voice, which slides effortlessly across a wide spectrum of musical genres. Sam has been a fixture in Ottawa drag and variety scene since he debuted in 2019. They have worked many of the city’s most well known stages, and is of course one of the four founding partners of Shameless Creatives.

Music is an essential part of Sam’s life. Away from the stage they’re an accomplished singer/songwriter, with plans to finally step into the studio and record music in 2023.

Sam hopes that any success they have on or off stage will serve as inspiration for other trans/non-binary artists, plus-sized performers, and masculine drag artists that they can achieve their dreams. The Prince of the Sparkleverse knows no ceiling and acknowledges no limits, so it is only fitting that someone like Sam would be a match for the royal crown.  Come fall in love with Sam Smitten on March 31st at the . Meet Victoria Vermouth: The Shapeshifter

Known as the Capital's Painted Pin-Up, Victoria Vermouth () is a q***r non-binary draglesque performer from right here in Ottawa. They have toured extensively over the past eight years, gracing stages all over the world with their effortlessly hypnotic presence.

They are also a producer of the smash hit series Vermouth & Sane Productions, as well as the beloved series Bytowne Cabaret.

Victoria uses they/them pronouns both on and off stage. Additionally, their performance art is all considered draglesque. As a non-binary artist, each different act requires them to embody different parts of the limitless gender universe. Thus, all their work includes gender performance in one way or .

This ability to flow seamlessly between a vast array of presentations makes Victoria as close to an honest-to-God shapeshifter as you can find without CGI.

What shape will they take on in the Sparkleverse? The only way to find out is to join us on March 31st and see for yourself.

Meet Kopy Cat: The Hero

Kopy Cat has been performing burlesque since 2017 when she won Burlesque Idol at the Ottawa International Burlesque Festival.

This Mohawk beauty has taken North America by storm performing her upbeat, high-energy style. Kopy Cat (.catt ) is one of the producers of Ottawa’s only monthly burlesque show, Basement Burlesque.

The Hero archetype is best known for its incomparable bravery. The Hero sets fear aside and charges into the teeth of overwhelming obstacles because they know it’s the right thing to do. True to her brand, the Original, Kopy Cat will be unveiling a unique act that exemplifies everything we want our heroes to be. We’re so proud to know her and to welcome her to our stage.

On March 31st, join us in the Sparkleverse as we watch our Hero look fear in the eye and punch it in the mouth. 💪

Meet Tanya King: The Ingenue

Tanya King is a public servant by day, but by night she has been enchanting cabaret audiences across Ontario and Quebec for the past seven years.

Tanya is a decorated drag performer having been crowned Miss Brockville Pride 2019 and Miss Thousand Islands Pride 2021. She is also a pillar of Ottawa's drag scene. She currently serves as Swizzles house queen, where she co-hosts the monthly Night of Lights dance party.

At 30 years of age, Tanya is a proud transgender woman and le***an, having recently completed two of her gender confirming surgeries in Montréal. Tanya also navigates through life with a disability, having been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Tanya's experiences have given her a lot to teach about embracing diversity within oneself and in your community and loved ones.

While Tanya made her name in cabaret as a drag queen, she has also shown a remarkable aptitude for burlesque since venturing into the art form in 2022. We're thrilled that she will be bringing her charming, unique take on the art of the tease to Into The Sparkleverse.

Follow the Ingenue as she walks among the heroes, legends, and gods of the Sparkleverse.

Sparkling Ian Sane: The Captain

Ian Sane is Ottawa's shiniest man. Known for his rhinestone suits and glitter beards, he will be at the helm of our voyage through the Sparkleverse.

Ian is one of the most experienced show pilots in the industry, having hosted on stages across the farthest reaches of the cabaret universe. Broken sound systems, popped pasties, he's navigated it all!

Ian was previously on hiatus during the pandemic, but his passion for nerd culture and experience creative immersive environments as a veteran Dungeon Master gave us no choice but to call him back to active duty. We couldn’t be in better hands.

Red Tongued Raven - The Goddess

Red Tongued Raven ( on IG) has won burlesque competitions including 2020 Nudie Nubies Worldwide, and the 2021 Barcelona Burlesque Festival competition. In 2022, Raven was awarded the title of best POC performer by Imperial Burlesque Canada.

When she’s not enthralling audiences with her award-winning performance skills, Raven loves working with makeup. As the Goddess of the Sparkleverse, it is imperative that she develop new looks, whether she’s blending in with us mere mortals by day, or enhancing her divine presence in the rare moments she chooses to reveal herself.

On Friday, the twins ( and ) sat down for the official ITTS primer podcast! The 45-minute recording provides a deep breakdown of the show concept, the casting process, and some logistical information about when, where, and how you can buy tickets!

Did you miss us?

We’ve spent the last week or so quietly working away at finalizing some details for Into The Sparkleverse. We’re so excited to share what’s in store.

Over the past three days, we’ve been notifying every applicant of our casting decisions. The final cast list is incredible. We’ll be sharing those names with you in the coming weeks, but we wanted to take a moment to talk about the folks who we weren’t able to cast.

We were overwhelmed with the number of applications we received for our first show. The depth of talent and experience was staggering. We were grateful to have such a deep pool of talent from which to choose, but the downside is that the number of stellar candidates was far greater than the number of available roles.

These decisions were not easy. We’re confident in saying that every single applicant we saw is more than talented enough to work with Shameless Creatives. Furthermore, we can confirm that there will be content upcoming that dives deeper into our casting process, and why the specific casting choices were made.

We love cabaret, and we love our cabaret community. There will be more shows in the future, and we hope to see many of your names cross our desks again.
