By Tony Eri
Mrs. Nonye Soludo, Wife of the Anambra State Governor, used the occasion of World Cancer Day to call for a renewed commitment to fighting the disease. Recognizing the devastating impact of cancer, she emphasized the importance of early detection, shared knowledge, and collective action.
"Raising our voices against the threat of cancer is crucial," Mrs. Soludo stated. "While this disease is lethal, early detection offers hope. Our daily emphasis on routine checkups and self-examinations is vital."
Marking World Cancer Day activities, she urged awareness, knowledge sharing, and appreciation for stakeholders working towards a cancer-free world. "This fight requires us all," she declared. "Cancer can affect anyone, but the choices we make today can save lives tomorrow. Be mindful of your health habits, take care of your body, and embrace healthy living."
Mrs. Soludo also commended governments, organizations, and individuals leading the fight against cancer. "Their efforts in building a strong support network have significantly reduced cancer deaths and improved access to diagnosis and treatment," she noted.
Reaffirming Anambra State's commitment to the cause, she highlighted the importance of investing in healthcare and collaborating with reputable partners to ensure effective and accessible healthcare services. "Our fight extends beyond cancer to every household disease threatening our residents' well-being," she concluded.
