🪼 HEY, HARLOTS 🪼

If sounds unfamiliar, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???

We had the extreme honor and privilege to appear on their show last month on not one, but TWO FULL EPISODES about feminist perspectives in D&D and about being a DM as a woman.

Alejandra and Mariah have a lovely weekly, casual talk podcast about D&D and TTRPGs. I highly recommend checking them out on podcast platforms near you! 💕 Check out their Instagram and hilarious TikToks while you’re at it 💅

Find us on “Episode 8: Fee-Fi-Fo Feminism Part 1 with the Slovenly Trulls” and “Episode 9: Feminist D&D Part 2, Electric Boogaloo.”

Let’s get SPOOKY with a deeper (heh) dive into D&D Lycanthropy! Even with our general overview on the topic in the previous episode, we already saw some patterns emerging.

So what’d we find???

💋 HEY, HARLOTS 💋

New month, new episode! This time on Swanmays. Lovely ladies who turn into swans.

What we discuss:
🦢 Where Swanmays come from
🦢 Why they are considered “lycanthropy” and how that differs from other shape changing in D&D
🦢 Dig deep into Swanmays and their sisters, the Bird Maidens

Episode two now available on podcast platforms near you. Sources available on our website - link in bio.

Image 3: “Femme swans are not as uncommon as you think”. Three depictions of swan maidens throughout history are below. A woman looks longingly at swans fleeing. A swan maiden holds a warrior’s hand. A swan maiden without her cloak is taking a bath in a lake, a man stands on the shore while holding her cloak by the neck.

☠️ HEY, HARLOTS ☠️

Part TWO of our orcs special investigation is out! On it, we look at two important deities of the Orc Pantheon: Gruumsh & Luthic!

Expect the following:
⚔️ An overview of the Orc Pantheon and its importance in Orc culture
⚔️ A look at the relationship between religion and patriarchy, specifically, is it a tool used by Gruumsh to establish patriarchal values in orc society?
⚔️ Compare & Contrast between Mr. Toxic Masculinity and Cave Mommy

Episode two now available on podcast platforms near you. Sources available on our website - link in bio.

——

Image 1: Episode 30 “Oh My Godsword (Orcs pt. 2)”

Image 2: Gruumsh & Luthic depicted throughout D&D history. Luthic changes from hag-like to powerful witchy, always with long claws. Gruumsh is muscular, with tusks and one eye and pointed ears.

Image 3: An image of the Orc pantheon deities, featuring Baghtru, Ilneval, Gruumsh, Luthic, Shargaas, Yurtrus.

Image 4: An article by Lise Fortier titled “Women, S*x, and Patriarchy”, with highlighted text “Religions were used to this end by males, who sought to maintain their dominance by excluding women except as servants dominated by old and, in some churches, by celibate men. Religions have been instrumental in keeping wives obedient to their husbands and in convincing women that they are inferior beings, to whom God does not speak. God, it seems speaks only to males…”

Image 5: A tinder profile for Gruumsh. His age listed Ancient, job as Patriarch of orc pantheon, education as “I know all, I see all”, location as “1 plane of existence away” and bio reads “Looking for: revenge, an androgynous elf”

Image 6: Text “POV: You’re Lyssa” on top of an image of a Tinder match, which says “It’s a match! You and Gruumsh have liked each other” with both of their profile pictures.

😘 HEY, HARLOTS 😘

It was recently suggested to us that you'd like a bingo card for our episodes... so we've put our money where our mouth is and we've tried to come up with some fun spaces just for you! 💕 See if you can find an episode that works for this?!

And let us know if we missed any spaces that should be there...

🧵 HEY, HARLOTS 🧵

We recently joined Threads and we couldn’t be happier with the welcoming reception that we’ve received!!! We’ve found some new friends and some new harlots and had great conversations so far! 💕

*feels all warm and tingly inside*

Our only critique is that we need more pics of hot vampires and PCs... 👀

——

Image 1: What’s it like on our Threads app?

Image 2: Started off strong… [our thread] “not me realising the power I hold to be able to transform us from €lf loving silliness to vampire loving horniness… AND THE BEST PART OF THIS PLAN IS NO ONE CAN STOP ME”

Image 3: Meanwhile on Twitter... [our tweet] “apparently @/itslyssabish has created a threads account for us and instead of ya know introducing our podcast and doing some cheeky promo she has CHOSEN VIOLENCE “ [with an image of our thread].

Image 4: …Buuuuut… [harlot thread] “Having just finished @/slovenlytrulls first episode. If you haven’t listened, I suggest it! I want to know what are ladies’ worst experiences at tables?...”

Image 5: ….we got some…[harlot thread] “Another fantastic podcast find I wanna share! I dove into the first episode a little over an hour ago and it was so great. Can’t wait to listen to more. Ep1 is a nuanced take on sexism in early D&D, provides context while not remotely excusing the perpetrators (my day job is teaching UGs Intro Psychology and these two are naturals for clarity on this topic). Plus, genius low key understatement quote of the year: “Biological determinism, it’s not great guys”

Image 6: [harlot thread]“Best thing about @/threadsapp so far? Discovering @/slovenlytrulls podcast - how had I not found them before? This is the D&D and TTRPG content I’m here for!”

Image 7: …~glowing~ reviews! Thank you! [harlot thread] “High praise on the latest episode from my partner! He enjoyed the discussion and well cited information and even cause[d] him to do a lot of self reflection and discovery! Keep it up ladies! Can’t wait to tune in when I get home [audio video]”

💋 HEY, HARLOTS 💋

This month’s episode started a two part investigation into the infamous player species of orcs! Specifically, we focus on a lot of the ✨toxic masculinity✨ ingrained into their culture.

Topics covered on the episode include:
⚔️ Defining what ‘toxic masculinity’ and ‘geek masculinity’ mean
⚔️ A look at the history of orcs and their origins
⚔️ Analysis of Orcs throughout AD&D to 5e

We recognize the racist connotations and origins of orcs as a species. While it is not our place to talk about these issues, we encourage you to go listen to the Three Black Halflings episode interviewing James Mendez Hodes, ENnie Award-winning writer, game designer, and cultural consultant. A special thanks to Jeremy Cobb for this!

On part two of our two part orcs special, we will take a look at some of the *religious* aspects and inspirations into their culture.

⚔️ HEY , HARLOTS ⚔️

We recently dipped our toes into the lore of ✨Pathfinder✨ when we collaborated with host Pete from Rise of the Rulelords, and Vic, a folklorist and Pathfinder-knowledge extraordinaire!

Rise of the Rulelords is an educational PF2e podcast with information, guidance, and interviews regarding the game. Pete has even talked to our friend Navaar Jackson of the Secret Nerd Podcast ( , who you should also listen to if you haven't already!) about the differences between Pathfinder and D&D.

We honestly had such a fabulous time delving into all things drow, hag, Baba Yaga, and banshees too. While most of the information covered by us about those specific D&D topics may not be new to our harlot listeners, the Pathfinder-side of them may be!

Check out the podcast and the episode on podcast platforms near you!

☠️ HEY, HARLOTS ☠️

Long time no post! While we were MIA for a bit on Insta, we've still been busy. This month's episode covered a very dark topic, in fact our darkest episode yet, which was about the campaign setting of Dark Sun.

Know that there are a number of content warnings for this episode, which we state in the introduction. Most, if not all, have to do with our part 3 the analysis of the episode.

Topics covered on the episode include:
🏜️ Defining what ‘dark’ is & what the genre ‘grimdark’ is
🏜️ A surface level introduction to Dark Sun
🏜️ Some history & influences of Dark Sun
🏜️ Case study: Villichi, all-female NPC species
🏜️ Case study: Muls, a very problematic player species

Episode available on podcast platforms near you. Sources available on our website - link in bio.

Image 1: Episode 28 “Hello Dark Sun, my old friend”

Image 2: Warning: Our darkest episode yet (no seriously, proceed with caution)

Image 3: What is “Dark”? What is “Grimdark”? An image of a battle between humanoids and an alien-looking monster with tentacles coming out of the ocean.

Image 4: A collage of Dark Sun themed images: thri-kreen insect species, bald muscled humanoids dressed in leather straps, spiked maces and headgear, a scorching desert location. Text on the image reads “What is Dark Sun?”

Image 5: Villichi - all-female NPC Species. The image shows a humanoid woman standing in an ’S’ shape, sporting a skin-tight suit, showing cleavage, luscious lips, knee-high boots & a head covering with a cape at the back. She is wielding two scimitars.

Image 6: Mil - a player species. The image is of a “wild mul”. They are a muscled, mostly bald humanoid. They have a bit of hair at the back of their head. They are crouching down, wearing leather armor and holding a pickaxe.

🎶 HEY, HARLOTS 🎶

We went back to check our Listen Notes, which is a website that ranks podcasts against each other and it seems that we've improved since last year! Both our "score" which they call an "estimated popularity" and our global ranking have improved????????

DOES THIS MEAN WE'RE ✨POPULAR✨ ?! 👁️ 👄 👁️

TELL US WHAT YOU THINK THIS MEANS in the comments below!

-----

Image 1: Our 2023 Listen Notes: Listen Score 30, global rank 5%

Image 2: What does that even mean? A listen score is a metric that shows the estimated popularity of our podcast compared to other rss-based public podcasts in the world on a scale from 0-100. The higher, the more popular. Calculated from 1st & 3rd party data. Updated monthly.

Image 3: What does that even mean? A global rank is a ranking of all podcasts globally, ranked by their Listen Scores (their estimated popularity scores). Our podcast is therefore ranked as one of the top 5% most popular shows out of 3,080,206 podcasts globally.

Image 4: Our score in August 2022, Listen Score 29, global rank top 10%

Image 5: Our score in April 2023, Listen Score 30, global rank top 5%

Image 6: In conclusion we still don't know that that exactly means but it's certainly something! So we'll keep doing what we're doing... Source: www.listennotes.com.

🦹 HEY HARLOTS, WE'RE BACK 🦹

And we're focusing our eyeballs this month on the amah-zing, historically-based (?) warrior women called the Amazons.

What we've covered on this particularly triggering episode:
⚔️ A closer look at warrior women: are they empowering or not?
⚔️ Context on Amazons from history
⚔️ A stab at finding the origins of Amazons
⚔️ Amazons in D&D aka the MEAT JUICE, with an even JUICIER CONSPIRACY

🌷 HELLO HARLOTS, IT'S BEEN A HOT MINUTE 🌷

If you missed our Instagram story a few weeks ago, we were interviewed by the lovely gal pals recently! They run a lovely little podcast with casual chats, tips, and advice about D&D and other TTRPGs, as well as do some actual plays and tiktoks! If you haven't already, you should check out their Instagram for their content & our interview 💜

Honestly it was such a fun interview and I really enjoyed listening back to it, even though it was a bit of a heavier topic (the systemic sexism of D&D and how feminism can fight it). On there, we talked about the origins of the Slovenly Trulls, how we got into D&D, as well as call each other out even before the theme song gets played... because, as you know, you can't take us anywhere... we do not behave...

Podcast & the episode can be found on podcast platforms near you! 🥰
