Junto a Betances se enfrentó a Bàez con el propósito de detener las negociaciones de arrendamiento de la bahía de Samanà y su gestión por querer anexar el país a los Estados Unidos. Ulysses Grant quería anexar a Santo Domingo para enviar a todos los negros allí y aliviar las tensiones por las políticas públicas de la Reconstrucción en los estados del sur. Luperòn y Betances también cabildearon para impedir que Estados Unidos adquiriera a San Thomas de Dinamarca. El tratado de ratificación para su adquisición no pudo ratificarse en el Senado de Estados Unidos como lo dispone la Constitución. Su figura con el pasar del tiempo se agiganta y crece ante mis ojos, pues es la pura definición de un valiente luchador.

El poderoso hermano Gregorio Luperòn fue uno de los amigos más íntimos que tuvo el poderoso hermano Betances. Gregorio Luperòn se inició en la Respetable Logia Nuevo Mundo #5, del Oriente de Santiago de los Caballeros en la República Dominicana. El hermano antillano Gregorio Luperón fue Miembro de la Comisión Instaladora de la Respetable Logia Restauración Número 11 de Puerto Plata, y uno de sus fundadores, el 25 de septiembre de 1867, siendo el primer Orador; y, su mentor y guía lo fue don Pedro Eduardo Dubocq, Venerable Maestro, quien fue amigo del ilustre hermano Juan Pablo Duarte, padre de la patria dominicana ❤️🇩🇴✨ :.
