THE GREAT TRIBULATION AND THE FOURTH BEAST

Daniel 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

The Great Tribulation is the unparralled and unprecedented torment of the Saints to be caused by the fourth beast (Roman Empire) through one of it's most wicked & ruthless rulers (The Little Horn). It was prophesied that this beast would war against the Saints and prevail (Dan 7:21; Revelation 13:7; Mathew 24:9,21).

The truth of the matter is that after 64 AD, the Great Tribulation prophesied by Jesus in Mathew 24 began to spread against the Jews/Christians. Many of the Apostles and Disciples/Christians were butchered terribly between 64 AD and 76 AD by the Roman Empire. By 70 AD, the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by Titus, and so much blood of the Jews was shed like never before, just as Jesus had prophesied in Mathew 24:21-22. The little horn responsible for this was Roman Emperor Nero. This, in essence marked the beginning of the prophesied Great Tribulation.
But wait a minute: can we now say the Great Tribulation has already passed? The answer is the first phase of the tribulation has already passed. The second and last phase is imminent:

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

According to Revelation 6:11, those Tribulation martyrs are not the last. More need to be martyred before the coming of the Lord. The Lord will come immediately after the Tribution of those days has taken place (Mathew 24:29-30; Revelation 6:12-17). This will be executed by the "revived" Roman Empire, under another wicked and ruthless ruler (2 Thessalonians 2:1-9). Here is wisdom: The "revived" Roman Empire is already in our midst, and its unified Army is very active in protecting its member states against Gog and Magog. Gog is currently at war with another country as we speak, and that war is very prophetic as it it cardinal to the ushering into full swing of the revived Roman Empire. The martyred souls of the 5th seal of Revelation are crying for vengeance, but the Lord is saying they should wait a little until more of God's servants are martyred, this time around not only the Jews but from every nation and tribe(Revelation 7:9,13,14). This shows that we are in the 5th Seal era already, and the 6th Seal era is eminent. We are closer to the end than we realise, and all tribulation must end within this 5th seal era before the 6th seal, which will usher in the the Day of the Lord, the day of judgments and vengeance against the wicked.
We do not have much time. Repent and be saved, and make Jesus your Saviour and Lord and be counted worthy to escape the impending judgment of God.

SERIES: Prepare to Meet the LORD - It is Almost Time

THEME: Bible Timelines

Reference Scriptures: Daniel 7:1-28; Mathew 24:1-51; Revelation 6:1-17

As we look at Bible timelines using various pointers from scriptures, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it keeps becoming evident that the time is far spent. The Lord's coming is getting closer and closer. There is a greater need for repentance and living in holiness (Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:)

In Daniel chapter 7, a revelation was given to Daniel covering the span of time through to the time of the end. Of note was that the remaining time would be characterised by the rise of 4 empires that would rule the whole world before Jesus comes:
(i) The Babylonian Empire (represented by the lion in the book of Daniel)
(ii) The Medo-Persian Empire (represented by a bear
(iii) The Grecian empire (represented by a Leopard, and
(vi) The Roman Empire ( represented by a diverse beast with iron teeth)
We are told from the book of Daniel that the fourth beast would precede the coming of the Kingdom of God, resurrection of the dead and judgment.

How close are we to the end? We are as close as the fact that all these empires have since arisen upon the earth. Some prominent rulers in these 4 Empires include Nebuchadenezzar (Babylonian Empire), Cyrus (Medo-Persian Empire), Alexander the Great and Anthiocus Epiphanes IV (Greek Empire), and Nero (Roman Empire)

Bible prophecy says the Roman Empire would be the last (Daniel 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him).

If all these Empires have already been, it already shows how close we are to the end. In the next episode we'll delve more into scriptures to expose details of the fourth beast (Roman Empire) as it relates to our times...we'll see from Mathew 24 and Revelation 6, with other scriptures, that we are at the very end of prophetically timelines, and we must be getting ready.
We will get deeper revelation of events from the Seals of Revelation Chapter 6.

Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

The third verse of Mathew 24 above has three interesting questions which the Lord Jesus answered in depth. An in depth analysis of some of the answers given has actually revealed the kind of times we are currently in. Reading in conjunction with the book of Revelation, one can clearly sea that the end time prophecies are right upon us. We will be able to identify henceforth one of the 7 seals of Revelation chapter 6 that has been opened already, and this will show how close we are to the end and the coming of the Lord Jesus. Scriptures will be presented without prejudice & clearly it will leave you & me no doubts concerning the times we are in. We shall focus on:
1. The Great Tribulation: When is it coming? Has it started already? Will believers pass through?
2. The Rapture & the coming of the Lord: how close are we? We'll actually see from scriptures and current world events that we are almost there.

End Time Events: Decoding the Book of Revelation, part 2:

The Book of Revelation has clearly explained its theme: To reveal things which will SHORTLY take place. Here is what it says:

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

The above verse confirms that what is revealed in this Book are things which will happen shortly. If this is the case, then we must take time to understand what these things are so that as we see them happen, we can clearly perceive the times and get ready. This is what we will take time to do henceforth.

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

The above verse further emphasizes that the time for the fulfilment of what is in this Book is at hand (near).

Jesus further explained in Revelation 1:19 that the Book reveals two types of events:
(i) The things which are: this speaks of things which were in existence at the time the Book was written. These are covered in Chapters 2 and 3. The condition of the 7 churches of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia & Laodicea is what Jesus referred to as 'the things which are'. This was the prevailing condition of those churches at that time. However, the messages given to each church are universal to all other church ages, as can be seen in the saying: 'He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the CHURCHES'. So all the churches and church ages were basically represented in each of the 7 churches of Asia Minor.

Chapters 4 and 5 introduce us to a special book in which things that will shortly take place are hidden, and the book is sealed with 7 seals. When each seal is removed, the things hidden there are exposed. This gives us the clue to understand the end time events: study and understand the events under each of the 7 seals. This is what we will do. We'll see these events and also refer to other scriptures to help us understand the end time events and their probable timings and sequence so that we can perceive the times we are in.
By the time we finish, you will be convinced through the Spirit of God that the times we are in are the very last days spoken of by the Prophets. It is indeed time to remain watchful and prayerful so that the day of the Lord does not catch us unawares. This, basically, is the essence of understanding the Book of Revelation.

Preparation for the Royal Wedding

Matthew 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Signs of the coming of Jesus Christ, as revealed by the holy Scriptures, are now evident for all to see. This calls for preparation among all the Saints in the Church.

Preparation is twofold:

Ecclesiastes 9:8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
The 5 foolish virgins in Mathew 25:1-13 had the white garment (by virtue of them being called virgins), but they slumbered spiritually because they lacked the oil. White garment speaks of righteousness & oil speaks of the Holy Spirit.
Effective preparation for the coming of the Lord involves both living in righteousness & watching in prayer where one is filled with the Spirit of God as they pray passionately & persistently (Ephesians 5:18; 6:18; Acts 4:31; Mathew 26:41: Revelation 3:4-5; 19:8).

Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

End Time Events are Here: Decoding the Book of Revelation

'And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.' (Revelation 22:10).

The above scripture clearly reveals that understanding of the book of Revelation is made more clear as we get closer to the ends of time. This page will document some of the clear revelations pertaining to our times as contained in the Book of Revelations. Suffice to say for now that most of the things we have sometimes thought were symbols of something are not symbols as such. John describes a lot of things using what was available at his time. There was no other way he could describe things like aircraft, F16 fighter jets and military tanks as he saw them in his visions. Instead, whenever he saw things like that, he had to describe them according to something similar that was existing in his own time, considering that the 7 churches of his time to whom Revelation messages were addressed did not know the inventions we have now and could not even have understood them. For example, he could probably have described a fighter jet as Caterpillar with fire from its tail....
The good news is that most of the prophecies from Revelation have now become evident. In the next few weeks, some will be presented here. Stay connected to be well informed. As you know, people perish due to lack of knowledge.

And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. (Revelations 6:4).

Signs of the end encapsulated in the second of the seven seals of time are characterized by the taking of peace away from the earth. In times like this, the greatest need of the earth is peace more than anything else. Unfortunately even the restored peace will be short lived, because there is really no peace to the wicked (Isaiah 48:22). An antichrist cannot give the earth true peace.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

For the great day of His wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand? (Revelation 6:17).

Worldliness and Compromise Characteristic of the Last Days (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

The Scripture above is being fulfilled right before our own eyes both within the church and outside.
The world is now rife with utmost worldliness and compromise of the standard of godliness. The above scripture reveals the following characteristics among men in the last days:
1. Love for pleasure (merry making)
2. Pride
3. Religiosity without piety
4. Coveteousness
5. Self-centredness
6. Lack of holiness
7. Homosexuality/Lesbiansm
8. Love for evil and hatred of good
9. Disobedience to parents
These are some of the major characteristics of people in the last days.
Isn't it evident that pleasure/merry making and self-celebration have taken centre stage in the church? Birthday celebrations and other events of pleasure nature in the church have taken more prominence than celebration of Easter and Holy Communion, for example. People are ready to spend big on these events and yet they are unwilling to spend to the same level on the work of God.
Fashion conscienceness is more pronounced than Christ-conscienceness. It is difficult to differentiate between 'clubbing' & 'churching' because both have the common denominator of skimpy dressing. Modest is now passed as old fashion.
Defence of evil is on the rise in the name of human rights and respecting personal choices.
Celebration of man is becoming more significant than celebration of Jesus...almost every day has now become world-someone day: world teachers day, world nurses day, world workers day, world fathers day, world mothers day, world engineers day, etc. It is all about putting man at the centre and Jesus on the fringes.
The Bible says in the last days men shall be lovers of themselves. Our eyes need to open so the world doesn't sweep the church along in the tide of unending celebrations that have no Christ at the centre. Remember, He is coming back again!

Prepare to Meet the Lord

The pathway of Christianity is all about making preparation to be found worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. When the Lord Jesus Christ ascended up to Heaven, He also said that He was only going to prepare a place for those who believe in Him; that after that He would come back and collect all His people so they can be with Him forever (John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:17). Unfortunately, Jesus said His coming back will be like a thief in the night, for which cause He expects His people to watch always and be ready for Him so that they are not caught unawares and found not worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 25:13).
It is unfortunate that many Christians will be found not ready because they are not actively seeking daily to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. Many are caught up in pursuit of things that have no spiritual significance. And there is not much time left. Few will make it because many will not be found ready and worthy.
Preparing for the Bridegroom's coming calls for deliberate efforts and decision making. You decide to actively stay away from sin. You decide to pray daily and study the Bible daily to learn the ways of the Lord. These things take deliberate efforts and discipline with the grace of God. If you value life with Jesus, you will have no trouble pursuing it. Decide and be on the safe side because time is no longer there to continue compromising and being lazy in your Christian walk. You must be among the number when the roll is called up yonder.
