Sultan Abdulhamid Han was born in Istanbul on 21 September 1842. His father is Sultan Abdul Medjid and his mother is Tir-i Mujgan Kadin Efendi. He lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his second mother, Pristu Kadın.
He was a weak child and often felt sick, for this reason, he showed great interest especially during his father's reign. He was very well educated and learned to play the piano alongside some of his subjects. Sultan Abdulhamid II lived a free life before he got married. After the marriage, he spent all his spare time with his family.
He inherited an empire that was about to disintegrate, through his political and social efforts, the empire was saved. He ruled the Ottomans for 33 years. Abdulhamid was a man of faith, kindness, and generosity. He was living a normal human life. During the Greek Campaign, it was reported that there was not enough funding for the campaign. He used the wealth of his property in this campaign.
He was a skilled carpenter, and he used to make excellent furniture and used to sell it and give the money to the poor. Sultan Abdulhamid II was a good king at heart and could rarely do any harm to anyone.
Sultan Abdul Hamid II had founded universities, the Academy of Fine Arts, Financial and Agricultural Schools. In addition, he opened several elementary schools, high schools, schools for the blind and the disabled. He owned Sisli Etfal Hospital and Poorhouse built with his own money.
He had excellent drinking water called Hamidiye brought to Istanbul. He stretched the highways to the interior of Anatolia and the railways spread to Baghdad and Medina. He had rider trolley roads expand in capital cities.
