She stood front and center among the men who ruled the World of Art, inserted herself into English society, became the first female sculptor to have a work purchased into the Tate collection, had pieces personally unveiled by the Queen of England, and scandalously married a man 11 years younger than her.

The Dorich House (still a hidden gem in London) was also a brilliant marketing strategy on Gordine's part. "Serving as an exhibition space and marketing tool, Dorich House allowed Gordine to socialise with sophisticated patrons and museum directors in her home, while simultaneously displaying her new works."
If you're ever in London, this house-turned-museum is a must-visit!

As a kid, while playing with her siblings after school, she started picking up things she found in the rubble of razed buildings. “I had a shadowbox I would put them in; it came to the point that it was too many things. People did not understand why I would stop to pick up a doll head off the ground; they were disgusted by it.” That didn’t deter her. To this day, she adds to the collection, always traveling with a Ziploc bag. (via Artsy.net)
Lucy Liu, best know as an actress for her roles in Kill Bill Vol. 1, Charlie's Angels, and the television series Elementary- has always been an artist. Her work as a painter began long before her acting career- participating in public art showings since 1993.
Liu's own desire to belong filters into her ongoing series, titled "Lost and Found," which involves embedding found objects into elegant books. She's amassed a cache of discarded items over the years; each one embodies a story and place, going back to childhood when she collected found pieces from razed buildings in New York.

When O'Keefe purchased her adobe Spanish colonial compound (1949)- it was in ruins. Over the next three years, she and Maria Chabot would restore it into a gorgeous dwelling- where O'Keefe would live and work for the next 30+ years.

Have you visited this incredible museum, housing her private collection, in Boston? The line-up is enough to make an art lover weep: Titian, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Rembrandt- just to name a few. And, if you watched Netflix's 2021 documentary "This is a Robbery", you already know this was the location of a still-unsolved 1990 art heist involving the disappearance of one of only 34 Vermeers in the world.
Here are two paintings of the beauty herself by Anders Zorn and John Singer Sargent (respectively). In addition to being total , she was a fantastic dancer and ice skater.
