Jimoh Ibrahim Defects To APC, Says PDP Is Dead Without Him In Ondo

BUSINESS mogul Jimoh Ibrahim has formally defected to the All Progressive Congress in Ondo state boasting that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is dead without him.

Speaking during his defection held at lgbotako in Okitipupa council area of the state, lbrahim who said he revived the PDP from death added that he will “use the same strategy to kill the party in the forthcoming governorship election.

The ceremony was attended by the former Governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, the state governor Rotimi Akeredolu, party state chairman, Ade Adetimehin and other chieftains of the party.

Ibrahim said that “even if the candidate of the PDP, Eyitayo Jegede SAN, expends all the resources at his disposal on the election, he will still lose to Governor Akeredolu.

”I do not want to sound proud, but i revived PDP in this state. I know how i revived the party and i am going to use the same strategy to kill the PDP.

“I have received the broom from our party chairman here. This night, I will do something. I will give the PDP its poison. I know how I revived the party, I will poison the party to death again.”

The business mogul who said he has tried so much not to talk about the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), described the party backward train with serial betrayers on board.

”I have tried not to talk about the ZLP. I pray we will not suffer in this life. Where is Zenith Labour Party in this state? The painful thing is that Agboola saw a golden opportunity and missed it to join the train of betrayers. Let me congratulate you Mr. Governor. You are going to win that election with a wide margin.”

He described Mimiko as a man with serial treacherous character, spanning across decades of betrayals of his close friends and political associates.

He stated that he joined the APC because of Governor Akeredolu’s gaint strides across the state, particularly his efforts on the resuscitation of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology which was abandoned by the Mimiko administration for eight years.

Receiving Ibrahim into the APC, the state Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin said the APC parades an array of leaders of integrity and proven character across the state.

Adetimehin described the decision of Jimoh Ibrahim to join the APC as one informed by the quality of people the reputation of the party is attracting to it fold.

Governor Akeredolu in his remarks, thanked the people noting that his administration is poised to do more for them.

I Dissappointed Myself and Family Fani Kayode Begs Journalists

Fani-Kayode
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has rendered an unreserved apology to a journalist for the verbal harassment he meted he meted out during a recent press conference in Calabar, the Cross-River State capital.

Fani Kayode also apologised to the Nigeria Union Journalists, family members, friends, and colleagues of the Daily Trust reporter.

Also, The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Council has blacklisted the State Government (Cross River) from any media coverage by all members of union in the state.

Speaking on Friday during a press conference at the Government House in Uyo, the ex-minister said he disappointed himself and everyone, noting that his reaction was undefendable.

“I’m deeply sorry for the manner I reacted to the said reporter. I was too hard on him. The question was mischievous, but I fell for it,” he said.

“I should have been smarter than that. I am using this opportunity to reach out to him, and I hope he will be kind enough to forgive me.”

“I disappointed myself, my family and friends, my colleagues and even my bosses, those who hold me in high esteem.

“I have regrets, it was not my finest day. No leader or public figure should ever react like that. I disappointed myself. I deeply regret it and I believe it will never happen again.”

This came days after Fani-Kayode insulted a journalist for asking him what he described as a “stupid question” at a press conference after his tour of Cross River state.

The reporter had asked Fani-Kayode who was “bankrolling” his recent tour of several southern states, a question that irked the ex-minister.

His comments had generated widespread criticism from many Nigerians and groups, including the NUJ which described him as “intolerant and unstable”.
The ex-minister, who began a tour of some states, especially those controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states in July, visited Cross River last week.

Expectedly, the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Akwa Ibom statehon Friday directed its members to boycott a press conference planned for the former minister.

Edo 2020: I Don’t Have Problem With APC, But Obaseki Will Win Edo Election – Pastor Omashola

As the Edo State Governor election draws closers, controversial Lagos clergyman and General Overseer Of Zionwealth Church, Lekki, Chris Omashola, Monday, insisted that the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and current Governor, Godwin Obaseki will win the election.

In a statement in Lagos, the cleric called for an end to godfatherism in the politics of the state.

Endorsing Obaseki publicly, on his verified twitter account Omashola, said: “God is working wonders in Edo State through the human instrumentality of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
If I were Adams Oshiomhole, I would stand by my truth, regardless of the direction of the wave; that is called integrity. I am maternally an Edo man and would always wish my people well. I do not have a problem with the All Progressives Congress, APC, but Ize-Iyamu is a no-no for me.”

According to the statement, Omashola, a popular Nigerian clergyman, philanthropist, businessman and a socio-political evangelist, has been involved in many social media controversies, blackmail, and, sometimes threats to life, for fearlessly speaking truth to power, society and constituted authorities in the fierce face of opposition.

The popular cases of Naira Marley, Bobrisky, and his fearless message to President Buhari, on behalf of hungry incapacitated Nigerians at the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown measures, are just to mention a few.

Omashola is an astute businessman; the Chairman of Zionwealth Group; CEO of ACO Media; a PR Consultant at Krystal Properties, Lekki; Zionwealth Oil and Gas; Kevwe Auto Limited, among others.

Oshiomhole Deceived 14 Edo Assembly Members-elect Says Obaseki

Edo State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that the sacked national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, deceived the 12 members-elect of the state’s Assembly who refused to present themselves for inauguration and two others whose seats were declared vacant, denying their constituents representation.

The governor said this in Adolor Ward 4, Ekiadolor, Ovia North East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, during his reelection campaign rally.

Obaseki said the affected members-elect in their selfish pursuits and obedience to their godfather, Oshiomhole, betrayed the confidence reposed in them by their constituents after the house was proclaimed on June 17, 2019.

“The godfather is very deceptive; he deceived 14 members of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) and today they don’t have jobs,” the governor said.

Urging the people not to be deceived by the antics of the godfather and his allies, Obaseki noted: “Let me tell you what is going on here in Ekiadolor, you may not know. About six years ago, they tried to play politics with you. They decided to set up two Universities but we didn’t know it was one they wanted to set up. They used a cover saying they are setting up two state universities.

“They pretended they wanted to set up two universities and took all the money to build one and in three years, nothing was done here. They stopped an existing College of Education and we didn’t have the university they promised us, no student was admitted.”

To right the wrong, the governor said his administration decided to set up a new College of Education with three campuses in Abudu, Igueben and Afuze.

Obaseki continued: I went to President Muhammadu Buhari to let him know we need a Federal College of Education in Ekiadolor, knowing that they have deceived us about having a university in Edo South. Thanks to President Buhari; he approved it and now we have a Federal College of Education in Ekiadolor. They don’t want the school to start as they keep sponsoring protest against the projects everyday. Please warn them to stop demonstrating.”

Chairman of Edo PDP Campaign Council Chief Dan Orbih said: “In the eight years of Oshiomhole’s administration, Ekiadolor people were abandoned as the existing institution in the area was abandoned and a new one built in Iyamho.

The Independence, Integrity Of The Court Is At Stake
“Obaseki is paying attention to the existing institution that was neglected by Oshiomhole’s administration. Obaseki has the answers to all the huge problems created by Oshiomhole as pastor Ize-Iyamu’s Simple Agenda can’t solve them.

“We thank God for Obaseki who has done well in developing the state; we all have benefited from his developmental strides in the last three years and eight months. Oshiomhole is not God and can’t decide who will become governor in Edo State; it’s only the people that can decide.”

Niger Delta Group Rejects Alleged Appointment of Colonel Milland Dikio as New Amnesty Coordinator

Former resource control agitators drawn from across the nine Niger Delta states under the aegis of Signatories to the Presidential Amnesty Declaration For Peace and Development have kicked against a yet-to-be confirmed report that one Milland Dixon Dikio has been appointed as the coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Program.

The group in a statement sent to NAIJA LIVE TV by its coordinator, Comr. Kingsley jackrich that we will resist the appointment of Dikio if the unverified news is true, saying it would be an act of one too many in the bizarre appointments of persons into the office, persons who completely have no understanding of the Amnesty Program.

The group further said that though the official spokespersons of the President, Segun Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media didn’t announce the appointment but it is not ready to fold its arms to watch the Federal Government impose a coordinator on former Niger Delta freedom fighters.

Parts of the statement read: “we understand that government business and most especially that of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is done with utmost respect for due process, hence we have found it difficult to believe the said appointment.

“We also know that the official Presidency spoke persons, Segun Adesina, Special Adviser (SA) to the President on Media and Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media respectively are traditionally the mouthpiece from which such Presidential appointments are made public.

“However we wish to make known our position to His Excellency President Mohammadu Buhari, that we will resist this appointment if this happens to be the case, this is one too many in the bizarre appointments of persons into the office of coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Program, persons who completely have no understanding of the Amnesty Program, who doesn’t understand the dynamics of the region or have the needed dynamism to run that all important office.

“We have watched with dismay and trepidation the actions of the National Security Adviser (NSA) Babagana Monguno in sabotaging the Presidential Amnesty Program the last five years, a program that has hitherto run seamlessly on autopilot. Mr. Monguno had appointed person’s whose only criteria for the job is to be friends with him, the appointments of Paul Boroh and Charles Dokubo are enough indictments of the judgement and leadership failures of the NSA Babagana Monguno.

“We have decided to sheath our swords out of love for the Niger Delta region, respect for the region’s elders who have constantly appealed and played intermediary roles of peace and also to demonstrate that we are not opposed to Mr. President Mohammadu Buhari personally or his administration. Infact we believe Mr. President Mohammadu Buhari is not a cog in the wheel of the Niger Delta progress. While we await a reciprocal goodwill gesture from the administration of President Buhari with regards to appointing a competent hand in running the tokens in the form of the Amnesty Program, we will continue to hold the peace.

“For over five years we have witnessed the crass display of incompetence, subterfuge and total antipathy by Babagana Monguno in the affairs of the Presidential Amnesty Program and to the people of the Niger Delta, we have come to the conclusion that he’s unfit, deliberately mischievous and ill equipped to properly evaluate and appreciate the hotspots of the nation’s security architecture, as often displayed by him, this NSA has for too long played the ostrich with our common destiny when the interest of the nation is at stake.

“As signatories to the Amnesty declaration and beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty program we shall avail Mr. President Mohammadu Buhari of the following; It’s an open secret that the Amnesty Program domiciled under the NSA Babagana Monguno is a complete failure, it should be noted that this same program ran seamlessly on autopilot before Monguno made it a monumental failure.

“The rot and the pervasive atmosphere in the Presidential Amnesty Program is hitherto unprecedented, the blame should be squarely put in the office of the NSA Babagana Monguno. This is a brazen affront that runs counter to your administration goals.

“Mr. President Mohammadu Buhari, it’s your prerogative to appoint an independent panel to look into the rot of the Presidential Amnesty Program these last five years. An accused cannot be a judge in his own case, it’s unethical and unprofessional for the NSA Babagana Monguno to appoint an interim management committee on the Presidential Amnesty Program and at the same time with the powers to mule over the unprecedented looting in the last five years.

“Mr. President sir, we have resolved henceforth not to work with the office of the NSA Babagana Monguno, the Presidential Amnesty Program needs to be domiciled directly in the presidency for better supervision.

“As we have all witnessed, this NSA Babagana Monguno continues to intentionally demonstrate that he’s ready to engulf the Niger Delta region and the nation in another round of conflict that we don’t need particularly at this time in our nation’s challenges. He has undoubtedly demonstrated his penchant for personal aggrandisement as opposed to national peace and prosperity and such he’s ready to sacrifice our collective well being as a nation for his personal gains.

“NSA Babagana Monguno drive to wind down the Presidential Amnesty Program when the objectives of the program have hardly been met halfway is not only a total negation of the spirit of the Amnesty Declaration but an invitation to anarchy in the region, attacks on the oil and gas industry and an escalation of the precarious security situation in the country.

“Mr. President Mohammadu Buhari, we once again appeal to your exhalted office and implore you as father of the nation to listen to the voice of reason, and we join the call of leaders and elders of the region that you appoint from amongst the ranks of those for whom this program is meant a suitable candidate into the office of the coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Program.”

Tell Fani Kayode To Calm Down, He Is A Man: Not God

While I was an undergraduate at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, the most thoughtful, yet provoking question we were always asked in those days was: "How many of you in this class want to become a journalist ?" Immediately a lecturer asked this question, all the members of the class would plunge into a perfect decorum with none or just few hands raised up to display their interest in becoming a journalist in the future.
I asked myself one day that why have I decided to choose Mass Communication if only four or five people could raise hands to show interest in the choice of being a professional journalist who will work in the media. This simply shows that many of the journalists in the media today possibly never wished to become one while they were in school. Of course, we were told the stark reality that there is no money in the profession. Hence, passion is the drive.

If one is not into politics, journalism is not lucrative in Nigeria; most of the publishers or Chief Executive Officers are politicians either fully or partially. They are either in opposition or ruling party. Neutrality is narrow in the Nigeria media parlance and that is why objectivity will always struggle to stand. This is a story for another day.

The unruly drama of Femi Fani Kayode with the innocent journalist during the press conference was not only execrating but a show of madness in guise.
I think the embarrassment, harassment, assault and threat to life embedded in this profession are parts and parcel of the reasons why many youngsters do not wish to become a journalist.
Fani Kayode’s attitude to a simple question that should have been answered simply shows that “being stupid or being wise is never measured by wealth”.

For everyone who might be wondering the kind of question that was asked by Daily Trust’s journalist which placed Fani Kayode on fire, here you have it in quote… The young man asked:
“Sir, please you did not disclose to us who is bankrolling you” a well cultured, reasonable and exposed public figure would have replied politely to the simple question.
A journalist is trained to ask questions and that isn’t a crime. It is expected of someone attending a press conference to have fully prepared himself to answer both soft, hard and critical questions. Not to talk of a self organized press conference.

What baffled me most was how Fani Kayode forgot so soon that he is a man and not God. Fani Kayode was boastful of being rich and said he can never be poor. Nobody wants to be poor in life but Fani Kayode has forgotten that only God decides who is rich or poor forever. The rich men of yester years, where are they ? Where is Abba Kyari, where is Abiola Ajimobi? Where is Issa Funtua? Where is Senator Oshinowo? Where is Buruji Kashamu? Where did these people place their wealths, awards, accolades when there is no space for them to even turn their sides in the grave? These men were not buried with their riches. They were men not God.

I know and quite sure, Fani Kayode wouldn’t have had the audacity to run derogatory remarks on Charles if the 53 years old man had arrived at the venue of the conference in his own G-Wagon with security personnel standing behind him as a journalist.
Well, the video is very clear and one can easily tell who is rich and who is poor between the two men. Everybody knows the real man who is stupid from the clip. Being rich is not about wealth that can not save one from death when the time comes.

One of the men is rich while the other is humble, kind, meek and touch souls with good utterances. What a pity! Fani Kayode is not in this category.

Fani Kayode flaunted his profession as a lawyer, has he ever been embarrassed before in the court while asking questions from the accused? The conference hall is like court to journalists where they have freedom to ask questions. So, what has the young man done wrong to deserve such reek, pong and pungent words for doing his job and exercising his right ? I don’t blame Fani Kayode, I blame the feeble minded journalists nodding heads like cartoon as if their colleague had done the worst thing ever. I blame the quack medium that omitted the question part of the video and tagged Charles as rude journalist. If we talk about rudeness, Fani Kayode is more rude than many other figures in Nigeria. His rude words to the President can not be numbered. Whether Fani Kayode has apologized or not, the deed is done and the video is in the record. It is a lesson that someone like him is not suitable for elective position. He will strangle press freedom to death.

Since we have ex governors serving as senators and still earning allowances from their states, who is bankrolling who should not be a crime. This is Nigeria and anybody can be bankrolled for any purpose. Tell Fani Kayode to always ‘calm down’. HE IS A MAN, NOT GOD.

President Buhari Ends Estimated Billing

NIGERIAN ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION
PRESS RELEASE: NERC COMMITTED TO PROTECTING CUSTOMERS

In response to media reports that there is an increase in tariffs for Nigerians, NERC wishes to clarify that tariff reviews going forward will only follow service-based principles. Under these service-based principles DISCOs will only be able to review tariff rates for customers when they consult with customers, commit to increasing the number of hours of supply per day and quality of service.

In all cases poor and vulnerable Nigerians will not experience any increase. In line with these expectations, DISCOs are directed to engage with their customers on a Service Based Tariff structure. Under the Service Based Tariff Structure, DISCOs can only review tariffs for customers under the following conditions:

Customers are consulted and communicated a guaranteed level of electricity service by the DISCOs based on hours of supply
Customers are metered
No estimated billing through the strict enforcement of the capping regulation. This means that unmetered customers will not experience any cost increase beyond what is chargeable to metered customers in the same area.

Even under the above conditions, there will be no change in tariff for the most vulnerable as tariffs for those consuming 50KW or less remain frozen. Customers receiving less than 12 hours of supply will also not experience any change in tariffs.

In addition, the President has directed that there should be a nationwide mass-metering program in an effort by the Federal Government to put a stop to estimated and arbitrary billing for electricity. He has also approved a waiver of the import levy on meters, so that those that do not have meters can be supplied as early as possible at reasonable costs.

The general public and all stakeholders in the power sector are by this statement urged to disregard any reports of an arbitrary tariff increase affecting Nigerians.

Leave traditional rulers, P-Gs out of partisan politics, PDP tells Obiano

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra has charged Gov. Willie Obiano to leave traditional rulers and Presidents-General of communities out of partisan politics in the state.

The state Chairman of the party, Mr Ndubuisi Nwobu, gave the charge at a news briefing on Wednesday in Awka.

Nwobu said that the crisis between the state government and some royal fathers could not have arisen, if the governor did not involve them to endorse zoning for governorship.

“It is not the duty of traditional rulers in any way whatsoever to delve into the zoning of the governorship neither is it the responsibility of Presidents-General.

“It is strictly the prerogative and responsibility of political parties.

“In as much as the royal fathers have rights to air their views, such views should be personal,” the PDP chairman said.

He also said that PDP had yet to deliberate on the issue of zoning in the state.

According to him, the Board of Trustees, state and National Assembly members, the Vice Presidential candidate in the last general elections, Mr Peter Obi, the PDP candidate in the last governorship election in the state will be consulted for such a deliberation.

“We are not worried about the clamour from some people for zoning in the state. Our party will discuss the issue at the appropriate time.

“We should, however, know that the Constitution allows any qualified person to stand for elective positions,” Nwobu further said.

He assured Anambra residents that PDP was determined to ensure internal democracy as well as free, fair and credible party primary ahead of the 2021 governorship poll in the state.

He said that the party had activated its grassroots mobilisation for the primary election.

“The aspirants already know who the delegates are unlike in the past when the list of delegates would not be known until a day before election,” he said.

He frowned at the failure of the APGA-led government to conduct local government election in the state.

He argued that the development raised serious questions regarding how council funds were controlled.

“Check all the PDP-controlled states, they have conducted local government elections timeously.

“Anambra will not be different, if we make it to the Government House in 2021,” Nwobu stated.

He commended the national leadership of the party for its role in resolving the leadership crisis in the state.

He appealed to the aggrieved members to sheath their swords and join hands with his executive to move the party forward.

Focus On your Health And Forget Presidency- Cleric

The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has urged the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to shelve any ambition he may be nursing for the 2023 presidency and rather focus on his health.

Primate Ayodele reportedly warned that Tinubu should focus and pray for his health not to crumble before 2023, and further noted that Buhari won’t give enough support to the ex-Lagos Governor to realise his presidential ambition

‘‘Tinubu should take care of his health before his ambition for President, his health might crumble, who says his health will still be standing by 2023. He has not done the right thing.

“Also, Buhari will dump Tinubu, he won’t support his course, Buhari won’t give enough moral and physical support,’’ Primate Elijah Ayodele said.
