Welcome to our homeschooling journey!
Last year I made the decision to homeschool Zayden for a few different factors but I have since discovered just how wonderful it is and have decided to homeschool both kids going forward.
Zayden has really flourished and it’s so good to no longer see him worried about the stress of school.
We have decided to take on an unschooling approach.
What is that you may ask?
It’s different to traditional schooling. We won’t be doing sheet and book work daily, we won’t do homework or tests ect.
We will learn through day to day life, exploring, cooking, watching documentaries, arts and craft, shopping, lots of outings, board games, reading, writing notes ect.
No pressure learning.
We will of course do some sheet work but it won’t be a daily thing.
Fun fact, the home schooling association officer we had come to approve us, has a 13 and 14 year old children and only last year did they do their first sheet work!
There is so many ways to learn simply by living day to day life.
Answering the million and one questions your children might have and by learning in ways they are passionate about.
One thing I know people get concerned about is socialisation. I promise, they get it.
We have homeschool meets every Friday, Zayden is starting drama classes this year, he is on the wait list for a soccer team, we have found a school that will allow him to do swimming carnivals and cross country, he still catches up with friends from school and he has numerous appointments for his health where he does lots of chatting to nurses and doctors.
Every time they go out in public, they chew everybody’s ear off that’s willing to listen and whenever we go to a park, they fit right in and have no issue making new friends.
I have created this page to post photos, keep track of our schooling, let Zayden make posts (his request) and so those that don’t want to follow our journey over on my normal page don’t get driven nuts 😅
Thank you so much for following along 💖
