Hi everyone! This update is long overdue. I apologize for the massive delay in putting out the 2020 edition of Swallow the Moon. I’d argue that we ran into every roadblock we possibly could: the initial COVID-19 shutdown, losing access to student org funding, and lack of interest in e-board positions.

Our new Student Writers Group president, adviser, and e-board have made Swallow the Moon available online!

Click on “Previous Volumes” to access the journal. Happy reading!

In her book, Elizabeth Gilbert defines as the divine relationship between a human being and the mysteries of inspiration. Check out her book Big Magic and her Ted Talk to gain new perspectives on living a creative life.

https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius

Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius. It's a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.

I’m Liz, The Student Writers Group’s (SWG) secretary, and I’m so excited for the year ahead! I’m a Junior majoring in communication, I write screenplays and plays and have a background in fundraising and public relations.

Writing is a process. You start off with nothing. You experiment. You plan. You write. You edit like crazy. Then you sit back and look at what you’ve accomplished. And you hate it. Then you love it. Then you hate it. Then you realize you spent way too much time on it to disregard it, so you go over it with a magnifying glass until you say, “This will do”. SWG understands, appreciates and honors the time and effort that writers devote to their craft and that’s why we’re committed to sharing the work of student writers in our annual Journal, Swallow the Moon. So… keep your chin up, keep writing and keep an eye out for when we open up submissions.
