We are here to empower you with knowledge about your rights as a worker in the UAE. π οΈβ¨
π Today, we want to shed light on the UAE Labor Law, a comprehensive set of regulations that protect your rights and regulate the employer-employee relationship. It covers crucial aspects that every worker should know:

Employment Contracts: The UAE Labor Law mandates that all workers have a written employment contract that clearly outlines important details such as job title, working hours, probation period, remuneration, annual leave entitlement, and notice periods. For example, your contract should specify the number of hours you are expected to work per week, ensuring that you are not unlawfully overworked.

Working Hours and Overtime: According to the labor law, the standard working week is 48 hours, with a maximum of 8 hours per day. Any additional work beyond these hours is considered overtime and should be compensated at a rate not less than 25% of your regular wage. For instance, if you are asked to work on a public holiday or during your scheduled rest day, you are entitled to receive additional compensation for the extra hours worked.

Leave Entitlement: The labor law grants workers annual leave, sick leave, and maternity leave. As per the law, you are entitled to a minimum of 30 calendar days of annual leave after completing one year of continuous service. Sick leave is also provided, allowing you to take time off for medical reasons with full or reduced pay, depending on the length of your service. Maternity leave is granted to female employees for a period of 45 days, with full pay, following the birth of a child.

Discrimination and Harassment: The UAE labor law prohibits discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, or disability.
