After finishing this hike feeling like I was going to collapse, I said I wouldn’t ever want to do it again. It was absolutely incredible, but I didn’t have the inner strength to think I could ever do it again. 2 years later and I’m stronger than ever. I hope to give it another good go one day 💪

Casually flying a plane! ✈️
What an incredible experience flying over Lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring. Snow capped mountains and glaciers and the thing that made it all that more amazing was that Dan was flying the plane! Thanks for the experience and for the recommendation! ❤️

We are definitely summer people, nothing better than going out and exploring when the sun is shining and the sea is glistening 😍
Tunnel Beach in Dunedin was a gorgeous little spot we got to spend the morning enjoying some of that summer sun and the waves crashing into the cliffs and coves 🌊

The generosity of people never ceases to amaze us 🥰
This is still one of the cutest memories we have from New Zealand. This is where we met a lovely couple who so kindly let us stay in their beach house for a whole weekend and took us around the area out of the kindness of their hearts. This beautiful little beach house was right on the dune of Pukehina beach. Also the place we managed our first astroshot! Swipe to see! 💫

We decided that as we have another year in this beautiful country, we are going to get out and see and do as much as we possibly can on the South Island. That started with a roadie of southland. This lovely little beach is called Gemstone beach where lots of precious gems can be found. Even with Kirsty’s jewellery background, we still had no idea what to look for!

Where’s your favourite hike? 🏃♂️
This is the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Nearly 20km of out of this world scenery - a hike between two active volcanos! 🌋 A hike that has certainly become a favourite of ours. We now understand why this is known as New Zealand’s best day hike 💪............

We miss Hank! 😭🚐 our trusty campervan that was our home for over a year!
Now that we have a home in Queenstown, Hank was not used and loved the way that he once was, and so, it was time for us to sell. He went to a loving home of a kiwi lady wanting to travel this beautiful country 🇳🇿 We are happy to know he’s still out there doing what he does best!
Farewell Hank. Live long and prosper! 🙏

As we approach the expiry date of our working holiday visa here in New Zealand, we thought we should actually update you that we transferred visas! A few months ago, Kirsty was lucky enough to get sponsored by the wonderful - this means we now have at least another year here! Super grateful that we were given this opportunity and are able to ride out the storm in such a beautiful part of the world! 🇳🇿

When was the last time you felt free?

Living on the other side of the world has completely changed our lives and not only because we’re upside down! 🌏
•
It’s not all been plain sailing and being here so far from our family and friends and now knowing we can not just hop on a plane when we want to is hard.
•
Having said all of that, one of the things we have felt more than anything being here is freedom. For us, having the freedom to be travelling such a stunning country in the midst of covid has been a blessing. This stop in Taupo was just that. Pure bliss 😍

So our next bit of bad news came the other week when we came home from work to find out the place we had called home 🏡 was being taken back by the landlord and so we had 2 weeks to move! 😭
•
We were so stressed about trying to find somewhere last minute and both while working full time.
•
We searched around and found somewhere lovely to live, however last minute another option was thrown in the mix and we were packing our bags! 🧳
•
We had to compromise on our to-die-for lake front view 😍 BUT, we are now in a warm cosy house with other awesome travellers and within walking distance to work!
•
Safe to say, things have worked out nicely! ❤️

THERE’S ALWAYS A SILVER LINING 🤍

So we decided to buy a car 🚙 Whilst we are here in Queenstown, and both working in opposite directions, we decided a car would make our lives easier and more comfortable. This was THE cheapest car we could find that was legal.
•
4 days after buying said car - ‘Terry’ as he is now called, wouldn’t start. Terry needed a new alternator and someone to fit it which could potentially be costly 🔧
•
We thought this was typical of our not-so-great luck. We reached out to the person we bought it from (who was selling it for someone else) to see if they knew where we could go and feeling bad for selling us a car with a problem, he offered to split the repair bill with us 😳💙
•
And we just thought, how nice it was that there was such a genuine person 💙
•
There’s always a silver lining even if you can’t see it...
•
Terry is back up and running and making us grateful for his comfort 🚙
•
We’re also super grateful for the glorious day spent hiking the infamous Tongariro Alpine Crossing! ☀️🌋

We are now in level 2! 💪 So we have been super busy because now we are both back at work full time! 😄

So firstly, we need to apologise for not posting for such a long time. We have been absolutely swamped with stuff these last couple of weeks and we will tell you more over the next few posts.

So incase we didn’t tell you, Dan is working for the amazing Salvation Army who have done an awesome job through this crisis helping those in need ❤️
•
I am working at the beautiful who are New Zealand’s longest established family run Jewellers! 💎
•
All in all, we are both feeling extremely lucky to have jobs in this current situation 🙏
•
We must say though, it has been so amazing reconnecting with other people again and seeing how as a nation of so many backgrounds, we have all come together as one ❤️

We are not lost! Promise! When was the last time you got lost? 🚐...
We don't know about you, but we love getting lost and discovering something new. This rule does not apply at night however, when we have found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, in the pitch black, driving at 20mph whilst on the side of a mountain. Which has happened more than once if you can believe it! 🤣...
I still remember driving with my dad - who is a driver by trade so of course NEVER gets lost and of course he doesn't use a sat-nav. This one time, we were driving to a friends house about 2 hours away who had just moved and we ended up taking a wrong turn. His response: we're not lost, we're just having a look at the trees! 🌳...
After that, I don't think we've ever truly been lost again! 💙.........

Now that we are at level 3, we can go out a little more, so we took a trip to one of the neighbouring towns that was full of colour and joy 😍❤️

Are you a morning person? 😴......
We definitely are NOT morning people. Where ever possible, we would always choose a sunset over a sunrise. We are the type of people that will sit up all night chatting or binge watching our favourite show and then stay in bed till 10am. 🛌...
NOT in this picture here though! We were up at 4am so we could take to the waters for sunrise on the only available spot on one of the best wild dolphin encounters in the world! 🐬...
Jumping into the water just as the sun was peering over the horizon, and being surrounded by more than 100 dusky dolphins was enough to get us out of bed. 💦...
This was just the most incredible experience and a massive bucket list tick for Kirsty. ✅...

Today was Dan's first proper day back at work! We are FLYING through this lockdown... 💪...
It's the start of a new week, we took last week as time for ourselves as we were feeling a bit down and unproductive. Now, we are feeling better and refreshed! It’s so important right now to look after your mental health as well as physical health 💛...

It is with great sadness that we have to announce we will not be releasing a vlog this week 🎥😭

We wanted to continue to make vlogs even while we are at home in lockdown but unfortunately this week it got the better of us. 🏡

We are not perfect, we’re human. And this week we felt demotivated, uninspired and a bit defeated. 5 weeks in isolation has taken its toll. Therefore, we decided to take this week for ourselves - we hope you understand 💜

Of course not! Instead, we are in awe of the magnificent Mt Doom behind us 🌋 - those non-lord-of-the-rings-fans (like Kirsty 🤭) may know it as Mt Ngauruhoe.

This awesome active stratovolcano sits in National Park in the centre of New Zealand 💙
•
Before coming to New Zealand, we weren’t really into hiking, but being around such stunning scenery, it’s hard to not get stuck into those boots once they get walking 🥾

TODAY WE MOVED TO LEVEL 3! 😃...
For those of you that may not know, New Zealand has a 4 level structure of dealing with the virus. 🦠 For the last 4-5 weeks, we have been in level 4 (complete lockdown). Today we have moved to level 3. ...
This STILL means 🏡 , however, it means that rather than being confined to our neighbourhood, we can now venture slightly further and we are allowed back to some forms of recreation! 🚴♂️..
We will still be staying local as we feel it is appropriate at the moment, but we just wanted to once again congratulate everyone for their hard work. This is a step in the right direction! 💪...
At level 3, Dan can return to work! And hopefully this means we can move to level 2 soon (when we are ready of course) meaning I can go back to work! 🤞...

It was Anzac Day yesterday, and so we thought it was appropriate to also remember those who have lost the battle against COVID-19. 🦠...
We also wanted to make this an appreciation post, and just wanted to say, THANK YOU to New Zealand as a nation. We are thankful for many reasons... 🙏
1. For giving us a home during these uncertain times. 🏠
2. The help & generosity of the people here has been incredible. 🥰

I think it’s great reminder today, on Earth Day, that we need to be kind to this planet we call home 🌏🏠

Since we have been
•Fish can be seen swimming in the canals of Venice 🐠
•The emissions globally have reduced, especially over China where there is so much production/factories ☁️
•The Himalayas can now been seen in towns in India they haven’t been for over 30 years due to the cleaner air ⛰
•
Our earth is breathing once again and having a good old reset 🔄 we all just need one every now and then right? 🤷♂️
•
This is also the perfect time to think about how we can live more consciously 🌿 Even changing one small thing in your daily life can have a big impact, and imagine the possibilities if we all made one change 🙏
•
We too have been guilty of not being more considerate, but all you can do is try, and so now we will try to buy less prepackaged products where possible 🥦🥑🍎
•
