It's New Year soon! I'm wrapping up 2021 and recalling the most memorable projects I did in the past.
This one features a remake of the iconic scene from the Matrix. Here, Neo and agent Smith's spectacular fist-fight in the subway comes to an abrupt ending when the mom calls. And you know, when the mom calls, you've got to pick up no matter what.

YAY! 🥳
I'm super happy to announce, that the project I worked on won the Silver CLIO Award in the category Games: Creative Content.
Clio is one of the world's most recognisable international advertising awards. 🚀
What is this project about?
It's a series of amusing videos and animations, in which two characters, Archie and Doc (inspired by the famous characters of the film Back to the Future), go back in time and revisit key moments and places in the development of the iconic game World of Tanks. Of course, you can expect a lot of insider jokes and memes there!
What did I do there?
I carefully recorded clean sound on set for the following 3 videos which, among others, took part in the competition (you can also watch them on my Vimeo - link in bio):

How did it go?
I remember clearly, that being a part of the filmmaking crew in this project was pure excitement and fun: Gena Tumelevich and his team of set decorators built a huge cardboard (?) tank on the biggest sound stage of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm. Not only that, but also the interior of a building was recreated, as well as that of the tank, that smashes into the wall of that same building. When Gena gets down to work, expect no less than fireworks. 🤩
Pay attention to the head of a Warcraft Orc that falls down in the foreground. This is probably a hint at how Wargaming destroys Blizzard, but don't quote me on that.😅
This was one of the shootings that took place during the Covid pandemic in 2020, so we all had to stay away from each other on set, wear masks and gloves and stick to some other strict rules.😷 What's also interesting, is that the director was on set, but the client representatives were with us online throughout the whole shooting. Kudos to for making it possible!🎥
After the shooting some CG and sound design magic were applied to make the story come alive.
All in all, a very memorable project. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Sometimes I just like to recall some of the most peculiar projects I've worked on. How about recording the sounds of a child delivery? This was staged, of course, yet both the baby and the mother performed well on that night.
In case you're wondering how it's done: the camera shows the mother's face on a close up shot, then we see the nurse's hands giving the "new-born" baby to it's mother. It's a very recently-born baby, that plays the part. How courageous are its parents though!
Then, there were other scenes, where we see the kid growing up, played by a different child.
The challenge in this project was to keep up the good work for 18 hours - this is how long the shooting lasted that time. Yes, it's tricky to film commercials with kids.

Last year I was lucky to be an intern at Łodź Film School at the Film Production Management department. This is where I met and shot a short film with some lovely people, who later introduced me to some other great people and all that led to some challenging and successful collaborations later.
This is how it works in the film community - you just have to know people who know people. And what better way to get to know people, than to shoot a short film with them? And if it means shooting and sleeping at the same tiny apartment, practically without leaving it, then why not? If we have to film Marcin Lipski make toasts with ketchup for 3 days in a row and open the fridge for 135 times - we will do it and we will have fun doing it!
I look kind of sad in the photo, but that's only because I fell out of love with sandwiches during this project. 😆

You've got great visuals but no sound? No problem! Contact me for sound-design and I will make your video awesome. Here's how I do it:

Let's have a look at "Business as usual", an award-winning fashion film by Monica Menez. When Monica contacted me, she already had the amazing, eye-catching visuals, but no sound had been recorded on set (it happens, no worries). So, my job was to bring the film to life with the use of sound.
When I watched the cut, I realised, that sound effects from a library will not do the trick in this project, so I grabbed some props and recorded foley specifically for her film. It was a lot of fun choosing the right shoes, finding the surface to walk on, wearing high-heels in sync with the models in the video.
My most favourite audio element is the ringing of the ear-rings in the massage scene. It's a small detail, but it makes such a great impact.
