Under the Artistic Direction of Alessandro Sartori, Zegna has entered an exciting new chapter in our history, as we continue along the same road that stretches back more than 110 years. A graphic representation of all we have done and set out to do, the vicuña-coloured brand mark now weaves through every collection we create.

⭕️ For Spring/Summer 2023, ZEGNA's sustainable mindset has been applied to a complete contemporary wardrobe across categories. ⭕️ Yohji Yamamoto is known for the avant-garde spirit of his clothing, . His signature oversized silhouettes in black often feature drapery in varying textures.

⭕️ Born in Tokyo, Yamamoto graduated from Keio University with a degree in law in 1966. His mother was a dressmaker who had a shop in in Kabukicho (an amusement and entertainment district in Tokyo’s Shinjuku). After graduating, he realised a law career was not for him. “I didn’t want to join the ordinary society,” he told BoF. “So I told my mother after graduation…I want to help you.” Yamamoto’s mother agreed to let him work at her shop, saying he could learn from the sewing assistants. At her request, he also enrolled at Bunka Fashion College, now famous for training designers including Kenzo Takada, Junya Watanabe and Yamamoto himself.

Walter Van Beirendonck is considered to be one of the main trend-settersin men’s fashion by the professional press. His designs are very recognisable by either strong graphics or innovating cuts and unexpected colour combinations .

⭕️ The red thread throughout his collections is his sense of humour, s*x with an eye-wink and his concern about ‘safe s*x'. His continuous statements about the fashion-world, earth, nature, contemporary life and society are collected in prints and slogans. Often 'double bottomed'! Always in a complete unconventional context. Since 1983 carries every collection a well-defined name.

⭕️ Wooyoungmi — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ BRAND APPROACH — Central to the design of WOOYOUNGMI is the unique perspective that comes from female designers creating menswear. An objective viewpoint is possible, thinking only of the man for whom they wish to design for. This man, as if a subject in a painting, need never change, he remains always as their ideal.

⭕️ ENVIRONMENT — Equally important is the design partnership. Sisters Woo Youngmi and Woo Janghee work side by side as a unit, both supporting and challenging one another. They have discovered that their opposing characteristics - Woo Youngmi conservative and precise, Woo Janghee unconventional and artistic - creates the perfect balance for designing together.

⭕️ MESSAGE — Designing a sophisticated and delicate collection WOOYOUNGMI would like to offer their customer something beautiful to break the routine of modern living. As with art and cultural experiences, fashion too can offer an escape from the mundane. With fashion one can make a small investment in oneself and find some joy through experiencing a new outlook.

⭕️ Winnie — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ Hot off receiving the Karl Lagerfeld Award at this year’s LVMH Prize, Idris Balogun brought his winning collection for Winnie New York to a gallery on the Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. There, he staged a colorful installation, with clothes artfully draped over fishing lines in a setup inspired by the tapestries and paintings of Alida Rodrigues.

⭕️ In setting out to explore perceptions of clothing, and the ways that we can ensure it’s responsibly produced, the designer found himself, literally, at the root of the issue and finally in a position to experiment with creating the fabrics for his clothes. Which is where Balogun’s network, from his years on Savile Row, Burberry, and Tom Ford, came through for him. A favorite mill in Italy instantly agreed to produce a silk cotton blend, as well as a small crop of linen, which took eight weeks from seed to fiber.

⭕️ Undercover — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ Jun Takahashi's label Undercover is a rare beast. Equally revered as a cult name in streetwear and as a fixture on Paris’ high fashion calendar, it is as if Supreme and Chanel were a single entity, injected with a dose of Tokyo underground. Complicating matters, ambiguity has defined the Undercover aesthetic from the start. Perhaps because Takahashi founded his label right as Japan's economic bubble began to burst, his creations have always evinced, along with strength and ingenuity, an inescapable notion of precarious instability. In today's uncertain climate, the designer's beautiful mix of chaos, resolve, fragility, peace, and humor is more relevant and necessary than ever.

⭕️ An image of the designer running through a foggy forest and a short but sweet foreword by Suzy Menkes set the tone for a straightforward, mostly visual chronicle of the label's history. Almost every collection since the label's inception in 1989 (or 1990—Jun himself can't quite recall) is studiously documented through more than 200 photographs, offering a satiating glimpse into Takahashi's mind-boggling creative universe that also leaves one wanting to know more.

⭕️ Rolf Ekroth — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ Rolf Ekroth Spring/Summer 2023 Camp Broken Arm — Rolf Ekroth revisits the summer camps of his childhood for Spring Summer 2023. Memories of ice-cream booths, friendships formed hastily in the height of summer and clothes that carry the smell of campfire smoke, even long after the camp is over, manifest in a sentimental yet sharp collection of wearable keepsakes.

⭕️ Having fallen into listening to the Beatles again, Ekroth suddenly came across Let it Be. The song flooded him with vivid childhood memories of listening to a camp counsellor playing it on a weathered acoustic guitar. A nostalgia for the long summers of his childhood became the foundation for a collection that feels like an intimate trove of souvenirs. Shapes and colours borrowed from his father’s early 1990s wardrobe and the ragtag outfits of children sent to faraway summer camps to learn new skills and collect new tan lines mesh together to form a tangible anthology of memories. References to American popular imagery of summer camps are peppered in through small details like pins and collegiate typography. Camp Broken Arm, the collection's name, is a warm nod to the carefreeness of boyhood summer camps: no matter where or when, one child always broke an arm jumping into a lake or falling from a tall tree.

⭕️ Rick Owens — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ Rick Owens is a fashion designer living and working out of Paris. ⭕️ Rhude — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ R H U D E, founded by Rhuigi Villaseñor in 2015, is a design venture born out of Los Angeles, balancing luxury techniques with streetwear elements, showcased as ready-to-wear collections.

⭕️ Designed from a narrative standpoint R H U D E is both a reflection of modern socioeconomics and personal stories as Villaseñor came to Los Angeles. Now a reoccurring theme season-to-season, R H U D E combines American iconography with nostalgic references, a visual commentary on Los Angeles style and culture itself. Rhuigi studied art history shortly after graduating HS and was an understudy/intern to Shaun Samson.

⭕️ With no formal training specific to fashion design, Villaseñor credits his understanding of garments and construction to growing up with a mother who was a tailor, providing a foundation and understanding of how to build each piece and the subsequent stories told with each collection.

⭕️ Reese Cooper — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ A multi-disciplined artist, Reese Cooper is a storyteller. He documents his exploration and experiences in his label. From fashion to photography, film to furniture, each project or collection tells a story - some fact, some fiction - woven together through powerful imagery and messaging all underpinned by precision detail.

⭕️ Since launching the first full menswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2018 in Paris, each season reflects a “chapter” in the brand’s journey. Womenswear debuted in Spring/Summer 20. Both menswear and womenswear draw from the brand’s core inspirations—vintage Americana fused with the great outdoors.

⭕️ All pieces are made in Los Angeles, California. Excerpts from Cooper’s story continue to be “patched” on each outerwear piece: “This is a story fueled by escapism and exploration. Clothing, objects and visuals inspired by what you need, what you cherish and what you acquire on the journey.”

⭕️ Prada — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ The Spring/Summer 2023 Menswear collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons is an expression of curated processes. The practice of design - of fashion - is one of decision-making, curation alongside creation. The tools of this collection are direct, recognizable, archetypal pieces – suits, overcoats, sweaters, shirts, denim, leather. Known garments are reinvented through context. There is always a complexity of thought behind apparently simple results, a process of refinement to uncover the fundamentals of dress.

⭕️ Brought together in unusual combinations, individual garments - often classic in and of themselves - can have a different impact. Inspirations are malleable, elastic - leather shorts and checked patterns can simultaneously evoke memories of childhood, domestication or sophistication.

⭕️ Silhouettes are pulled close to the body, proportions abbreviated. They are evocative of youth, therefore energy and vitality. There is a freshness and lightness to clothes that permit the body to move freely, a consciousness of its form and dynamic, an innate freedom and joy.

⭕️ Our Legacy — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ Stockholm-based cult brand Our Legacy is the epitome of Scandinavian cool. Applying their own twist to timeless design staples, their play with custom-developed fabrics, minimalist silhouettes and textures has seen them dress A-list rappers like Wiz Khalifa in Hawaii shirts and send ‘techno cowboys’ down the runway at Paris fashion week, all the while questing for the perfect white T-shirt.

⭕️ The brand was founded in 2005 by Jockum Hallin and Cristopher Nying (who were later joined by Richardos Klarén) and started out with print T-shirts. The designs were stocked across some of Scandinavia’s most reputable stores and it snowballed from there on, with shops opening up in Stockholm, London and later Berlin.

⭕️ In 2016 Our Legacy launched its forward-thinking WORK SHOP initiative, an atelier-store-workspace dedicated to recycling and upcycling old garments, in an attempt to mitigate fashion waste.

⭕️ One of the brand’s notable collaborations was the Our Legacy x Vans Vault collection paying homage to California punk, which dropped in 2017.

⭕️ Originally a menswear brand, Our Legacy moved into womenswear in 2018 and announced their first women’s store opening in Soho in London in 2019. Apart from apparel, the brand now also extends to glasses, shoewear and fragrances.

⭕️ Officine Générale — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ Designed in the heart of Paris by Pierre Maheo.

⭕️ After years of involvement with several fashion groups in France and Italy, Pierre Mahéo has put his experience together to propose his vision of our industry today.

⭕️ Pierre acquired the control of shape and construction through his apprenticeship in a French Tailoring firm. That experience procured a knowledge and passion for the finest materials, tailoring details and hand finishing that he's researched for the past decade, like one of his signature details inspired from a vintage shirt from Mr. Giovanni Agnelli, with the "V" yoke and multi-pleated arm cuff.

⭕️ Officine Generale is a proposition of a "Vestiaire". Combining a casual silhouette, inspired from vintage Military garments and tailoring.

⭕️ Working within the archetypal frameworks of menswear, Neil Barrett reimagines modern tailoring through fit and shape, combining sartorial precision and athletic elements.

⭕️ The Designer — Neil Barrett's interest in fashion began at an early age: born in Devon, South West England, both his grandfather and great-grandfather were master tailors, a talent that runs in the blood for this designer obsessed with the cut and finish of his immaculately-made apparel.

⭕️ In pursuit of his early enthusiasm for fashion, Neil studied at both Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art in London. Immediately after his graduation, Neil was recruited to work at Florentine-based Gucci, where he was appointed Senior Men's Designer.

⭕️ After five years of work with Gucci, Neil approached Prada's CEO Patrizio Bertelli proposing the start of a men's line: 8 months later Prada Menswear was born. ⭕️ MSGM — 2023 — Spring Menswear Collection

⭕️ This brand is not only synonymous with apparel; I can recognize what MSGM is or is not from the energy it spreads.

⭕️ In 2009, Massimo Giorgetti and the Paoloni group partner up to launch the first MSGM collection. Giorgetti is initially working with three friends that, however, will soon abandon the project: the brand’s name, which takes inspiration from indie band MGMT, is also an acronym composed of their initials.

⭕️ Colors. Patterns. Details. Shapes. Contaminations from the urban and sportswear worlds, Italian style with an international twist. This is MSGM: four letters, a clear and strong message. A free spirit with a vocation for anything that is current and immediate, a kaleidoscope of colors, shapes and lines that inexorably captures the public's attention.
