My mom liked to leave things out and then would say "I was teaching you a lesson".

Example:
Bryce (boy next door) was mad at me because I wouldn't go outside the night before. I just didn't feel like it.
The next day after school, Bryce pushed me into a cactus and said that will teach you not to come outside with me when I ask.

Mom's Moral: Sometimes you should do things you don't want to. You need to think of others' feelings.

My Thinking: WTF? Cactus' hurt.

February 1980...Move back to Scottsdale, AZ
Mom and Dad back together...more on that later...

Drop Dad off at the airport.

Pull back in our driveway.

Mountain Lion on top of garage.

Mom: J go run in the house and unlock the door for your brother and me.

Me: Okay mom.
(I take the keys)

Mom: Run Fast.

Me: I will

I run in the house and open the garage door for mom and brother. Mom and brother pull car in garage safely and close the garage door.

Mountain Lions eat people. Mom left that out before telling me to run in.

Moral: Mom taught me not to be afraid of anything

6th Birthday 1979

Mom: Hey J...Dad is here to
And he wants to give you birthday gift..

Dad: I'm leaving your mom for another woman. Here's an onyx necklace. You, mom and your brother are going back to NY

Me: Well thanks for the necklace...
(looks at mom, shrugs her shoulders)
Me: Well at least we will see snow and I can teach my brother to build snowmen.

There in fact was no snow for another month....mom could have told me...she left that out...

Fast forward 2 weeks...Mom sends me in a white dress and sandals...She forgot to tell me I was the only girl invited...
Pick-up from party I am head to toe dirt from playing soccer..
"J Marie!! You shouldn't be playing the rough with the boys!!"
Well Mom, You left that out...
