How did this power-hungry young politician get so rich so fast? It's baffling how someone with no job background or business suddenly rises to high positions like Finance Minister and accumulates wealth without any known business ventures. He showers his followers in parliament with lavish gifts like houses, cars, and cash, seemingly without limit.

This politician's rapid wealth accumulation, especially during his time as a minister, raises serious questions about his intentions. The prospect of him becoming a billionaire on day one as Prime Minister is alarming. Can we really trust such politicians to lead our country? Their focus on personal gain over the nation's welfare risks tearing the country apart, unlike the current government's efforts under Marape Rosso to prioritize the country's interests.

His hunger for power seems insatiable, leading him to pursue it at any cost. It's crucial not to be swayed by politicians solely driven by personal gain, as they may not have the country's best interests at heart.

Over night Millionaire from tax payers money đź’° Be careful with this politician Rainbo Paita.

Can someone explain to me his business background?

If he became Rich in short period of time being a state minister ,he will not hesitate to steal more if he becomes the Prime Minister.

Giving power to such Politicians will destroy our young Nation.

EXPOSING DUMA, POWI, AND POLYE FORGE SECRET ALLIANCES TO CHALLENGE MARAPE ROSSO GOVERNMENT

31st of August, 2024
Political Observer

Behind closed doors, political heavyweights Hon. William Duma, Governor William Powi, and Don Polye are plotting a new path, but their attempts to recruit Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso have hit a brick wall. As Rosso stands firm with Prime Minister James Marape, the trio is now quietly crafting alliances and looking for a new figurehead to hold their coalition together. With the stakes rising, all eyes are on Hon. Tom Lino as the potential glue that could bind these factions in a bid to shake up the Marape-Rosso government but Lino can make it for such desperate move.

Hon. William Duma, Governor William Powi, and Don Polye have been holding secret meetings to discuss their plans for leadership. They wanted Deputy Prime Minister Hon. John Rosso to be their candidate, but Rosso has refused their offer several times. He remains loyal to Prime Minister James Marape.

As a result, Powi, Duma, and Polye have formed their own group within the government. Powi has support from Pila Niningi, Maina Pano Kagua - Erave MP, while Rafael Tonpi - Mendi Open MP remains loyal to Prime Minister Marape.

William Duma, leader of the United Resources Party (URP), has planned to bring nearly half of his party members to his side. In addition, he has gained support from two Pangu MPs, Kansol Kamdaru and Jacob Maki, who are his close relatives.

Don Polye, on the other hand, does not have much support at the moment, but they are working to bring in Hon. Tom Lino. Lino seems to be quietly exploring his options but has the lowest possibility to be open to joining their side.

Powi, Duma, and Polye see Lino as a key figure who could help unite the different factions, both in the opposition and within the government. They believe Lino could help destabilize the Marape-Rosso government if he joins their efforts.

If this plan succeeds, some opposition MPs are ready to return and support Prime Minister Marape.

The opposition has now shifted its focus to Duma and Lino after failing to convince Rosso. They are working to persuade these key figures to join their cause.

These ongoing political maneuvers show a complex situation in which various leaders are trying to secure their positions and influence the direction of the government.

Opposition leader the real alternative PM in a Westminster system of government is sitting and two so called alternates are doing a handover . It is a clear under estimation of the Hon D Toumaresia who is a more experienced national leader then the kid from Enga who is the MP for Finshafen or the mix race child from Madang who took over from Somare’s chair yet not following in Somare’s footsteps and infact wining and dining with PO that stole PMship from Somare.

Hon Douglas Toumarasia is a real person , real leader for his indigenous Trobriand people and, he is a third term MP , he is a strong United church Christian, he is a husband of one wife, unlike Bird and Paita. Hon D Toumarasia should be the alternate, he is from Papua too and it is about time Peter Oniel show some honesty and allow the opposition leader to contest against the prime minister as opposition’s nominee.

The nation should rally behind opposition leader and not those who just arrive to try their luck. No wonder why opposition strong man like B Nama and J Lelang joined government.

Another reckless decision by O'Neill-Abel Government to obtain expense US$500m Sovereign Bond at HK in 2018. It was obtained at 8.375% interest but we are reliably told that interest now increased to 11% . That means PNG pays US$50m or K180m on interest alone. Note that principal of US$500m K1. 8b due in 2028.

If people like Allan Bird and Kerenga Kua cares for this country, they wouldn't have associated with such reckless decision makers. They have betrayed and insulted the intelligence of genuine Papua New Guineans.

Little too late now. They're hooked into PO's trap.

*PNG Central Bank Acting Governor Genia has decided to take the entire Bank of PNG Board and Management to Australia this week at the cost over K1,000,000 for strategic meetings in a foreign country where she is confirmed to be a citizen of and expose BPNG meetings information to foreign intelligence network in Australia? Has any Board Members at BPNG decided against BPNG having meetings in a foreign country? Are such board and management meetings of BPNG overseas allowed by BPNG Act and other laws? We are all told that Elizabeth Genia is an Australian passport holder and also a PMG Passport holder. If this is true, can Chairman of BPNG David Toua or Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey MP publicly explain to PNG Government and people and confirm whether the Labour and Immigrations laws of PNG allows dual foreigners/ citizens to hold BPNG Governor post? Treasurer Ling Stuckey, please keep politics away from BPNG! Last we all expect us politics in BPNG positions/ work and influence there regards Montary Policy!

MINIMUM WAGE

While the politicians are getting thousands of kina's. The general working class in Papau New Guinea are suffering and are struggling to live day by day. The minimum Wages for unskilled workers currently is at K3.50. It's an overdue wages rate which was determined some years back. Currently, Papua New Guinea government is not doing anything. What the government is care about is themselves and not the people . The government cares about their pockets and not for people.
Imagine how can a family sustain themselves in two weeks given the scenario as follows :
A dad with two to three kids
House rental - K200
School project fee - K50
Bus fare - K3/ day = K30
Lunch money - K5/day = K50
Uniform fee = K150
Stationery fee - K60
Clothing - K0.00
Power bill - K50
Water bill - K100/monthly
20 kg rice bag and other food items.- K200
Imagine he earn K280 at the minimum wage rate of K3.50. How can this K280 fits his budget expenditure.
By looking at the scenario given above we now can conclude that the above person needs a thousand kina to sustain his family. All government around the world is addressing their people's concern but not in Papua New Guinea. Civil servants,NGO groups and Unions has to stand up to this with the general public to get government of the day to immediately address this issue.
We have a government that is enjoying the tax payers money and forget about their people. They think about themselves , their wives, children and associates and never wanted to address the very important issue at hand.

PM MARAPE AND HIS GOVERNMENT HAS DONE WHAT POLITICAL HEADS OF ALL DEMOCRACIES THE WORLD OVER ALWAYS DO. THE POLITICAL HEAD PROVIDES VISIONS AS TO HOW THEY WANT THE COUNTRY TO MOVE IN WHICHEVER DIRECTION. IT IS UP TO THE PUBLIC SERVICE MACHINERY TO TRANSLATE THE VISIONS INTO TANGIBLE PROGRAMS TO REALIZE THE GOVERNMENT VISIONS AND AGENDAS. IMPLEMENTATION S OF GOVERNMENT AGENDAS/VISIONS IS KEY TO ACHIEVING RESULTS FOR ANY GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY.
PM MARAPE HAS ESPOUSED ENOUGH VISIONS AND GRAND DEVELOPMENT AGENDAS FOR THE COUNTRY ALREADY. THE CRITICAL LINK BETWEEN VISION AND IMPLEMENTATION IS THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF SECRETARY TO GOVERNMENT. THIS IS A POWERFUL GOVERNMENT OFFICE THAT MUST COORDINATE WITH ALL HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES TO ENSURE ALL GOVERNMENT POLICIES/VISIONS ARE IMPLEMENTED. THE OFFICE OF CHIEF SECRETARY MUST OPERATE LIKE A PUBLIC SERVICE WHIP. IT MUST WHIP THE PUBLIC SERVICE INTO SUBMISSION AND MAKE THEM DELIVER TO GOVERNMENT EXPECTATIONS!! IT MUST IDENTIFY AND DESIGN PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS AND SET TIME FRAMES FOR DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES TO ACHIEVE RESULTS. IF THERE IS SLACKNESS OR DELIBERATE INSUBORDINATION BY HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES THE CHIEF SECRETARY SHOULD CRACK THE WHIP AND RECOMMEND TO GOVERNMENT FOR SEVERE DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS. RIGHT NOW THE PUBLIC SERVICE IS AN UNTAMABLE WILD BEAST OPERATING ON IT'S OWN INSTINCTS. THE PUBLIC SERVICE MUST BE REINED IN, TAMED, CONTROLLED AND EFFECTIVELY UTILIZED FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE ONUS RESTS WITH THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF SECRETARY.

*Public Service has flouted the Finance Instructions*

Most government department and agencies have conviniently side stepped the Public Finance Management Act and Instructions.

The Secretary for Finance and Auditor General have laxed it's application and allowed huge public funds to be expended.

Certain goods or services are specific to certain government process.

Finance Instructions is specific to secure items from those specific government agencies ie.

1. Provision of vehicles and plant and equipment. Check DoW Plant and Transport Bureau, if not obtain quotes elsewhere.

2. Any printing, Government Printing Office, if not available or cannot in time frame , seek outside

3. Office Allocation should be done accordingly to space requirements. It must be shared but we see one agency in whole building with so much empty space.. see Central Government Office or Commerce and Industry where lots of unused space.

4. Any lease of residence must first be through NHC first. Non are checking NHC and renting at rates that are well above market rates

5. Engagement of Consultants firstly through DPM and NRI that such is needed or not available within public service..

6. Purchase of computers or IT under PSGO that it is needed

7. Persons driving Z or P or government vehicle must have PTB permits

8. Government vehicles get Registration stickers from PTB Works and no vehicle registration as private vehicles with MVIL etc

9. Disciplinary Forces approved drivers are given license without fees.

10. Disciplinary forces canteen and clubs do not pay trading and licensing fees

We have decided to obtain 3 quotes for almost everything that supposed to be provided and expend government funds reckless or exorbitant.

If these goods or services are available, no need to obtain 3 quotes and can pass the various approval process as money is paid within...

If we are concerned about office rentals, visit any of leased premises and see lots of unused space and vacant floors ..

We can put in 3 or 4 Departments in CGO and few other government leased buildings and get value for money.

If we go by Finance Instructions we can save millions and millions of kina and the onus is on Department of Finance and Auditor General who are relaxed doing inspection and audits of 10 or 20 years ago whilst the system is enjoying free reign..

There are argument about efficiency and productivity of the government department and agencies to deliver and yes, the more we don't use these we keep saying GPO or PTB don't have capacity because we are not making them deliver on our requests and will become competitive..

Those who want to run away use the argument and engage in various wastage and leakage from the government purse...

KPHL defied NEC Decision No. 81/2020 of Meeting No 4/2020 dated 11th March 2020 wherein paragraph 4 states, "approved for KPHL to set up a Special Purpose Company to manage the Kroton Equity of 4.27% for the Provincial Governments and landowners including all income generated from it". The highest decision making body on land has decided. The trustee shareholder has signed off. PMJM has fulfilled his committed to release same. KPHL has no right to continue holding onto the 4.27% equity. The owners of Kroton Equity were paid so called Dividend. They're not entitled to dividends. They deserve tgeir full 4.27% released. It's over 2 years, KPHL has defied NEC 's lawful direction. KPHL currently holds 75% State interest and 25% interest for PGs and LOs. The 25% owners were not consulted for the UBS Oil Search deal and now Santos Oil Search deal. We will never support this bad deal. We now recall our call for KPHL to respect NEC Decision, respect PMJM and honor his commitment, respect the 5 Provincial Governments and respect the 20, 000 plus landowners that sacrified alot to make PNGLNG a reality. Because of them, State is now enjoying over K3b income annually through KPHL shares and Tax inflows. It's by time we appreciate stakeholders that matters the most. Give back what is rightfully theirs.

PNG’s first soft tissue remedial therapist, Brian Kwaragu has achieved many things despite his vision impairment.

Supported by Australia Awards PNG, Brian pursued an Advanced Diploma in Health Science (Soft Tissue Therapy) and became the country’s first soft tissue remedial therapist. Today Brian provides massage therapy to athletes and patients suffering from chronic pain.

He reflects on his journey by saying, “I used to think, I have a disability and I am no use to my country. Having this profession, I’m contributing something in the country. From my work, I get accepted because I’m earning and contributing to my community.”

Motivated to share knowledge and teach a marketable skill, Brian applied for an Australia Awards PNG alumni grant to fund three massage therapy workshops. His workshops attracted professionals in sports, hospitality and wellness.

Brian is planning to conduct a similar workshop for persons with disability and is conducting research and planning towards funding and facilitating this event.

treasurer ling-stuckey seeks detailed explanation on the methodology used to determine gopng credit rating from andrew wood, director sovereign & international public finance ratings at s&p global ratings company.290922

MINISTER FOR TREASURY

P O Parliament House
Waigani. NCD
m: +675 71111777

TREASURER WORKS WITH S&P GLOBAL CREDIT RATING AGENCY TO LOWER INTEREST COSTS.

“The global credit ratings agencies of S&P Global and Moodys have a very important impact on global perceptions of the PNG economy. If they consider the PNG economy and budget management is doing well, there is a chance of lower interest rates for our business community. There is a chance of more foreign investment because of increased confidence in PNG’s economic management. This is why I have given priority to meeting these credit rating agencies in Singapore and honestly outlining PNG’s prospects and pressures” stated the Treasurer, Ian Ling-Stuckey.

“The global credit ratings agencies such as S&P are considered as independent umpires on how an economy is performing or a global firm (such as BSP). In particular, they focus on risks, especially loan repayment risks. Traditionally, they have focused on the risks of a country or firm defaulting on a loan.

“PNG has never defaulted on an international loan. However, PNG has always been considered as below “credit grade” since rankings began in 1999. The current S&P ranking of PNG as “B-“ places PNG in the “Highly speculative” category in the international community. This simply means that we and our PNG global firms face much higher interest rates.

“Lowering this perception of risk in the PNG economy can be achieved through the honest and transparent sharing of information. We experienced a hiccup last year when there was a misunderstanding about the legitimate refinancing of a loan for the disastrous agreement on Solwara and undersea mining. If we don’t tell credit rating agencies the true situation, they will naturally fear the worst. I wanted to talk to them in person to help build confidence in the Marape-Rosso economic reform agenda” stated the Treasurer, Ian Ling-Stuckey.

“COVID-19 blockages to international travel has meant more “virtual meetings” – simply talking over a video link that is often of poor quality. The world knows that regular face-to-face meetings are more productive especially when sensitive issues are being considered. When it comes to international finance, debt positions, interest costs and future prospects of reform, one really needs face-to-face meetings. A spreadsheet of numbers does not fully convey the Marape-Rosso government’s engine room of economic reform. This is why meetings in person are vital” stated Ian Ling-Stuckey.

“I was very pleased to outline our Government’s major economic reform programs. Budget repair through the 13-year program which brings PNG to budget surplus by 2027 and spending better. Raising revenues equitably to support increased service delivery and infrastructure. There was a very productive sharing of ideas at the meeting.

“As with Moodys credit rating agency, we discussed options for how PNG’s credit rating could be further improved and I welcomed the ideas and advice. This is good, constructive, international engagement and I thanked the S&P team for their time and willingness to engage on important PNG matters” stated the Treasurer.

All the candidates bringing on court cases in Disputed Returns Court will form out more money from their pockets after spending everything they had respectively in 2022 NGE for their respective seats. Now to pay lawyers money to take the petition to court against PNGEC and Incumbent is like draining blood out of their bodies. Could have all been avoided if PNGEC didn’t listen to politicians and do all the funny decisions at the first place and ran the elections independently without fear or favour. Now with have 74 disputes in court now registered and more will join. What a banana republic we have become after 47 years! We were supposed to be advanced and sophisticated by now and all our state institutions are by now grounded, solid, accountable and stable. The opposite is true now in all state institutions. Corruption and fraud and mismanagement is happening everywhere. When will be stop? Who will stop such? When is the correct time to stop such? Do we need to turn 50 years to become matured and stop all these madness? Or do we expect some Angels from Heaven to come aid us here in PNG? Do we want to be colonised again by Australia or Japan or Germany to grow up? My goodness. Samson

PNG has too many lazy and idle people procrastinating everywhere with cargo cult mentality and our entire God blessed fertile land is lying idle while we preaching about feeding the world population. Lazy can’t feed hungry people. Hardwork people have surplus food to feed hungry and lazy people. We need all our land to be cultivated by big Agro companies partnering with cooperative societies and farmers to mass produce all that our local economy needs and rest be exported to feed other countries and their peoples. That means we need an economic blue print from the Government on exactly HOW to produce all the commodities in huge production and downstream them to finished products before shipping to feed the entire world. That will take brains and time and planning and funds to involve all partners to deliver. We need Treasurer and DAL Minister and Planning Minister to call a forum/ seminar and bring all key departments and Commodities Boards together to showcase what we have, what he can do, how to do it, who is responsible for doing what, what to deliver when, how much funds needed to do it, who will manage it, who will do audit, who will monitor and supervise, etc. Until we can do these in-house, I don’t see any way forward.

*If cost cutting is not made by Government on all government agencies expenditures between 2022 and 2023, the borrowing will continue to spiral out of control and thus eat further into our State coffers and decimate the Development Budget of 2023-2027 budgets. It’s extremely significant and important that Marape-Rosso Government implement expenditures cuts right across all government agencies now. Thanks. Samson*

Constitutional Office Holders of highest office of PNG like PNGOC, Police, Defence, Courts, etc must and should not have private and Not sanctioned meetings frequently as it’s not healthy for democracy and good governance in a very abjectly corrupt country like PNG where everyone worldwide do not trust us on anything anymore. Debt is also killing our country while super inflation is killing our people.

PM MARAPE MEETS WITH STEAMSHIPS OWNER JOHN SWIRE; INVITES COMPANY TO DIVERSIFY, EXPAND

Wednesday 21st September 2022; London, United Kingdom.

PRIME Minister Hon. James Marape today (200922) paid a courtesy visit on John Swire of John Swire & Sons Ltd, the principal shareholder and parent of Papua New Guinea’s oldest company – Steamships Trading Company.

The meeting with John Swire & Sons at their London head office, was to thank the shareholder for keeping their investments going over a long time in PNG and still continuing in the face of everything PNG has gone through.

The meeting was also to reassure the investor of the current efforts the Marape-Rosso Government is now putting into expanding the economy through the development of enabling infrastructure, Agriculture and downstream processing.

PM Marape said: “Steamships has PNG truly at its heart. It has been operating in the country for over 90 years, with a history that is entwined with the country’s own history. Still, it is going strong.

“Swire is a big company globally, with substantial shareholding in Cathay Pacific also.

“My meeting with John Swire today was to reassure him that the future of PNG is looking up as we begin on the efforts to expand the economy toward the K200 billion mark within the next 10 years. We are doing this by opening up the rest of the country through infrastructure development, Agriculture and downstream processing.

“I also reassured him that my government is more than willing to work with companies that have stood the test of time with PNG, and Swire – through Steamships – is the longest and most loyal.

“The Government is looking forward to seeing Steamships and Swire consolidate their positions in PNG, and diversify and expand even further.

“Steamships has been with us long before our own Independence and knows the PNG business environment like no other. Nothing would make us happier than to see it expand into the areas we are working at such as Agriculture, downstream processing and building MSMEs among Papua New Guineans,” said PM Marape.

The Prime Minister said the Government was working at upgrading enabling infrastructure to support investors through the Connect PNG Program covering roads, bridges, wharves and jetties, airports and airstrips, including electricity which was mentioned by Swire as one of the challenges being faced by Steamships.

PM Marape said power supply should be upgraded to full capacity within the next three to four years in the Southern region, and the Lae – Highlands area all the way to Hides utilising gas (Western end) and hydro (Eastern end).

The Prime Minister once more gave credence to the link as established through the Commonwealth with the United Kingdom.

“The country would know my view by now on maintaining our arrangements with the Commonwealth, especially with UK. UK is just like the United States; it is the capital of the free world, capitalistic society. This is where commerce and trade took off from, with huge markets here. At the moment they buy our oil palm, tuna and exports that find their way into the European market,” said PM Marape.

It would seem a dangerous trend for investors to bring less into the country then make billions within the country and siphon all the money out in US dollars. I recommend a law to be put into place to control currency flush just like a kundu drum making loud noise as it exits the shores of PNG. The law- A FOREIGN COMPANY CAN TAKE OUT IN US DOLLARS THE AMOUNT IT INVESTED IN THE FIRST PLACE BUT IS ILLEGAL TO TRANSFER MORE THAN WHAT IT INVESTED INITIALLY. Needs refining to protect PNG CURRENCY STRENTH!

MY Elected leaders of WHP ,Papua New Guinea need to market itself using the queens death.
The 22 province need to host funeral using the K1m money for independence celebration.
Every province need to host funeral like we have lost our mother. Here are things we need to do.
1. Compile the vedios of royal visit to PNG from 1974 to what date by a professional media company
2. Host customary funeral programs for the queen in each province and kill pigs or rub mud or whatever custom we have in each district.
Kill pigs, distribute food and do everything and must be documented properly.
3. Fly the Governor General to all province with deligate of the Government and attend the funeral program
4. Take that documentary to London and have a copy presented to The King Charles III and tell UK and the world this how we mourned of Queen Mother by her people of Papua New Giinea.
5. Send the copy of the documentary to BBC, Algagera, RT, CNN, ABC and other TV channels to broadcast and promote PNG for the world to know.
We have to spend our K1m received by each province to Market PNG to the world using the queens death.
The people of UK and Europe doesn't know PNG.

We need to capitalize this event to market PNG.

This is my idea.
Nobody Knows PNG, the National Event council and GG office and Foreign Affairs Ministry to promote PNG now. This is our opportunity.
Please advise PM and others .
This is my idea for K1m independence money for all districts and provinces.

Thanks

PNG SET TO SHIFT ATTENTION TO ASIA FOR TRADE, STARTING WITH INDONESIA

By Josu KIM
FM100 / Hot97 FM news
Wed 7th September 2022

Papua New Guinea will now shift its trade focus and priorities towards Asia under the Marape-Rosso government and the first priority will be Indonesia.

International Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru said the Chief Trade Officer has been tasked to bring a submission into cabinet by next Wednesday for the government to provide funding to undertake a three month study into the feasibility of the trade agreement and partnership with Indonesia.

He made the announcement yesterday during the handover takeover of the Ministry from outgoing Minister Soroi Eoe in Port Moresby.

“We are shifting to Asia and our number one priority is to negotiate and put in place a trade agreement with Indonesia,” Mr Maru said.

“I’m the first Minister to acknowledge it is a serious policy flaw that we haven’t got a trade agreement with Indonesia, that we haven’t focus on unleashing the potential of this important trade partnership with our closest neighbour.”

Maru said the reason is simply because Indonesia has a population of 273 million people, current economy with GDP of US$1.1 trillion and an economy that is growing at the rate of 5 percent per annum.

“Indonesia has grown from primary production to manufacturing and also a country that cannot feed itself.”

“According to the statistics, by 2050, Indonesia is forecasted to be the fourth biggest economy in the world, with their economy to grow from US$1.1 trillion to over US$10 trillion.

“This is a gold mine for PNG waiting for us to tap into, so Indonesia will now be the focus of the trade office, we will drop everything and focus on building a trade relationship with them.”

Marape-Rosso Government will be measured against their KPIs against the monster enemy of PNG, CORRUPTION. The fight against corruption in all government systems and processes and agencies and personnel is all out war to Take Back PNG. Anyone found corrupt including Ministers must be jailed. Zero tolerance on corruption in PNG. Curse is already on all corrupt people in Government circles. Empower OC, ICAC, police, and courts via increased funding and political will power to hunt down and imprison any and all corrupt people in PNG. Fight against corruption means Take Back PNG. If corruption continues unpunished and allowed to thrive, Take Back PNG will be a slogan/ motto only. Samson
