The 6.5L Detroit Diesel engine was introduced in 1992 as the new and improved version of the 6.2L Diesel engine. Detroit Diesel designed the engine for General Motors, and it was the second collaboration between the pair, following the earlier 6.2L Detroit Diesel engine. While most of the 6.5L engines were sold with a turbocharger for improved performance, some naturally aspirated versions were also made. The motor also featured an emission system and delivered stellar fuel economy despite the use of a turbocharger.
The engine application wasn’t limited to only pickup trucks but was extended to vans and SUVs. Between 1992 and 2002, the engine was used in several vehicles, including:
• Chevrolet Blazer
• Chevrolet Tahoe
• Chevrolet K Series (1500, 2500, & 3500)
• Chevrolet C-3500HD
• Chevrolet Suburban
• Chevrolet C/K
• Chevrolet Vans
• GMC Yukon
• GMC Suburban

• GMC Vans
• Holden Suburban
• AM General Hummer H1
• AM General HMMWV

This is an install that I did for Arctic Fox Logistics on my friends truck. This blower setup is used for unloading product from dry bulk pneumatic trailers. Flour in this case. This truck was sitting for a number of years and is going to be put to work now!

It was a great day for seeding! There were rain clouds passing by throughout the day but there were no major setbacks because of it. We even got the pleasure of seeing a nice rainbow.

The transmission came out this afternoon, now it’s going back in this evening. The old failed dual mass flywheel is replaced with a much better one off my parts car. Replaced the waste gate actuator as well so now I should be able to start off without shaking and get up to 110 on the highway 😁

Tonight I dug my old toolbox out of storage and moved it into the garage. I bought this back when I had my first mechanic job at Hammerdown Repair company right after I graduated high school. Brings back a lot of great memories of the great crew that I worked with there.

The auto greasing system is now installed on our coulter. The install went well and looks great! Now it’s time to see if it works as good as it looks!

South facing doors are great for the natural sunlight and thawing from the suns heat… they are not so great when it snows and blows…

Tested out the air deflector on the roof rack today. I’d say it was a win! There was next to no wind noise with a full roof rack. 💪🏼

Not every day you see John Deere content on my page 😆 is mostly an Agco/Cat farm but we do have John Deere sprayers that we are quite fond of. With the snow disappearing, these machines will hit the fields in no time! It’s time to get em serviced and get em spraying!

The right tool makes the job a breeze. I’ve lifted clutches in and out of place by hand and my back is paying for it. This homemade clutch attachment on our .tools transmission jack is a lifesaver!

I use anti-seize on basically everything I work on. Shock bolts are one where it really pays off to use anti-seize if you’re the one who has to take that bolt out next time!

Installed the levelling kit today. Now it’s sitting at a much nicer height and stands a much better chance in the field.

This old chevy has some serious work to do this coming summer. It’s time to get started outfitting it with the tools to get the job done! It’s going to be our irrigation service truck . It’s getting fitted with a diesel fuel tank as well as new and used oil tanks for doing oil changes on generators in the field. Being a 1500, it’s obviously going to need some suspension upgrades! That’s also part of the project.

Today I came across some old pictures of my first sled. It was a 1975 ArcticCat ElTigré 500. Man would that thing go. I think it did about 75 mph. Although on a nice day you’d have to go that fast to keep the engine cool because it was a free air.😆 At one point I blew the motor and had to rebuild it. Eventually I sold it but the memories live on.

I don’t own a sled anymore but snowmobiling is honestly still one of my absolute favourite things to do! I sold this one to my brother back when I was a poor college kid. We seem to still have this agreement that if I can get it going I can borrow it for a good day of riding. 😆 Here we go again. Tomorrow should be a good day if I can get it going.

How To Test Engine Thermostats.
This is how I test thermostats. Here I’m testing old ones. It’s also a good practice to check new ones before you install them because they are not guaranteed to work. If they don’t, you end up with the same problem you had before and lots of frustration trying to figure out why.
