Hello world, hereā€™s your new song of the summer.

Y.O.U by

This song has been stuck in my head for 2 months, and Iā€™m so thrilled that itā€™s finally out and I can share the hell out of it.

production/mixing/ mastering on this song was phenomenal, and Iā€™m honored to have been a little piece in the much larger process.

Iā€™ve been a fan of ever since I discovered them on ā€œIndie Poptimismā€ Spotify playlist (if you know you know) and was pumped when they asked me to mix their new single this fall.

The whole creative team that made this song come together was absolutely awesome. Go jam it!

Mix engineers can geek out about music marketing too šŸ’ā€ā™‚ļø

Iā€™m so pumped that I get to help my mix clients strategize this part of the process.

Doinā€™ that release strategy thang today on a call with and getting ready for some new music weā€™ve been creating together to hit a streaming platform near you šŸ”„

Messages like this are literally the reason I mix/produce. Helping artists capture the sound in their head, and making it blast out of their headphones is honestly just a thrilling experience. Iā€™m soooo grateful for all the artists who have trusted me with a part of their music-making process this year. ā¤ļø
Iā€™ve got some openings for mixing projects coming up in November if you wanna talk!

Every song has the power to change someoneā€™s life, and yours deserves the chance to.

One of the biggest struggles that the artists I work with share with me, is how frustrating it can be trying to find a healthy balance between spending time making great music, and spending time promoting it.

So I did a tonnnnn of research, phoned a friend, paid some experts, and put together a list of 40 different post ideas (that literally take 5 minutes) and a whole strategy for making the most out of social media in really small amounts of time every week. Cause you should be able to focus your energy on making music, while growing a fanbase thatā€™s absolutely obsessed with what you do as an artist.

This was originally supposed to be a resource just for my clients, but I figured: ā€œscrew it, this should be available for anyone that might need it.ā€

ā€œThe Artist Playbookā€ is free to download on my website if you wanna check it out. (link in bio)

I really hope this helps you get your music out to the listeners it will mean the most to, and that it helps you build the worldwide support system your music deserves.

ā€œI am convinced I donā€™t know how to do your movie. Itā€™s always a blank piece of paperā€. -Hans Zimmer

I heard this quote the other day, and it hit hard, because it literally explains the feeling I have with every new mixing or production project I get involved in.

You donā€™t ever really know whatā€™s going to happen when you start creating a piece of music with someone else and thatā€™s what makes it so damn exciting.

Artistic experimentation and trial and error with a team of creatives is probably the most thrilling thing Iā€™ve experienced, and nothing getā€™s me more hyped than when someone says: ā€œI wonder what it would sound like if weā€¦.ā€.

So thankful for the artists who trust me with a part of their creative journey, to explore that process together.

The team that came together to make this project happen was absolutely incredible.

šŸŽšBig thanks to and at for engineering the sessions, and just being awesome.

šŸŽ¹Thanks to for adding some of your keys and organ magic to the project.

And massive thanks to for trusting a part of your production process to me, šŸ™Iā€™m stoked for you to get this music out into the world!

Thereā€™s nothing better than that feeling you get, when you suddenly know youā€™ve stumbled into a great song idea.

Thatā€™s exactly how Sam and I felt when we started producing the bridge of ā€œI Remember Whenā€ spontaneously on a Zoom call at the beginning of lockdown.

The explosion into the final chorus and the vocal ad-libs are a total throwback to 2010 power ballads, with a synthy/vocoder twist and Iā€™m pumped that this song is out into the world now!

When Will brought the song ā€œStand By Youā€ to me, the first thing that struck me was the raw authenticity of the vocal in the chorus.

In our first convo about the song, we knew almost immediately that every decision we made in the production and mixing process would need to be hyper-focused on supporting and matching the emotion of that vocal performance with a soundscape that brought the listener into the story in those lyrics in a compelling way.

We spent a tonnnn of our time together on this project just bouncing ideas to each other, experimenting with the sound design that basically went like: ā€œhey I tried this really weird thing that sounds kinda coolā€ and ā€œIā€™m hearing this sound in my head, I wonder if we can make it with stock Logic plugins?ā€

We ended up with a really minimalist approach to the production that was focused on creating subtle tension in the instrumental, pulling the music forwards with a sense of rising anticipation, which built up to a massive final chorus.

Super proud of how this came out and the absolutely badass team around the world that came together to make it happen.

ā€œThere should be more than one hook in your songā€ is one of the best pieces of advice a songwriting/production mentor of mine ever gave me.

Different listeners will latch onto different instruments and elements of a track, so give each of them something catchy and memorable that will get stuck in their head.

Whatā€™s a tip youā€™ve learned in your journey as a songwriter and artist? Drop it in the comments to share it!

Share this with an artist friend who just finished new music and celebrate them šŸŽ‰

We get so stressed as creatives with all the things we have to accomplish that sometimes we forget to just geek out about all the progress we are making and the deeply meaningful music we are creating.

Finishing a song is huge. Be pumped and keep rockinā€™
