We’re celebrating with a brief history of bees 🐝

🦖 It is widely thought that bees evolved about 130 million years ago.
🐝 The very first bees evolved from predatory, carnivorous wasps.
🌷 Over time, these early wasps changed their diets. Instead of collecting other insects to feed their young, they began collecting pollen.
🌍 Today, there are 20,000 bee species and over 270 bumblebee species in the world.
🦴 Several of the earliest bees have been preserved in amber and fossilised. The oldest fossilised bee was found in 2006 and dates back one hundred million years.
⛰️ It is believed bumblebees evolved in the Himalayas, in Asia, around 25 to 40 million years ago. This area still has the greatest bumblebee diversity today.

I did it at last! After MANY failed attempts to see / shoot the Aurora in Dorset last night it finally happened, for a very very brief few moments there was a small pillar of pink dust dancing across the sky - not easy to capture with a strong moon behind, amazing moment though.
