I'm calling this one "Hugh Norie," because he looks like what you might get if you ordered Hugh Laurie from Wish.

Been working on some eye studies lately and am particularly fascinated by drawing tears/running makeup, so expect to see more of this over the next month or so. Stay tuned!

Also, get vaccinated, wear your mask properly, and practice social distancing. Your eyeballs better be the only thing I can see on your face when you're out in public! Safety first.

I've been quite dormant as of late, but I do have some very interesting works planned for the very near future. I'm planning on drawing the various stages of decomposition as well as continuing to tell stories through portraits sans faces. Stay tuned!

Working on a self-portrait is a deeply vulnerable and humbling experience. It reminds me that when you get down to it, we (as humans) are all just a collection of highlights and shadows. Embrace it! I'm not scared of the dark--are you?

This one was very tricky but a whole lot of fun. The section of music that took me forever to draw is my favorite section from Chopin's Marche Funebre, the part at the beginning where the piece transitions from the main theme into this really gorgeous passage that you have to hear:

I've decided to do some really quick (~30 min.) body studies to practice light and shadow. Also to showcase all my joints, which I find make people uncomfortable.

This was a difficult piece for me. I was about four years old when this photo was taken (likely at a Sears). I don't have very many pictures from when I was a kid, and this is the only formal one.

It was hard because this kid looks so happy, and I know what comes next. That little girl's life is going to be an absolute hellscape for the next twenty years. But I'm glad I did this. It was cathartic.
