"A Lesson Before Dying" (1999) is a powerful drama originally aired on HBO. It's directed by Joseph Sargent and written by Ann Peacock, who adapted the story from Ernest J. Gaines' 1993 novel under the same title. The film stars an outstanding cast featuring Don Cheadle, Cicely Tyson, Mekhi Phifer, Irma P. Hall, Brent Jennings, Lisa Arrindell, and Dana Ivey. Phifer plays Jefferson, a black man accused of murdering a white man, which results in his conviction and sentencing to death. Cheadle plays a college-educated black who returns to his small southern town to teach but faces internal conflicts about his dreams, goals, and ambitions of where he is in life. With encouragement, Cheadle visits Jefferson to help turn him into a man after the courts and justice system deem him nothing more than an animal before sentencing him to death.

This compelling film has so much depth and honesty to it. All the actors performed at high levels and brought the characters to life. Ironically, the film has many lessons beyond what Cheadle tries to convey. As a school teacher, he also deals with young children facing hardships. This movie is a must for fans who appreciate distinguished acting, powerful storytelling, and messages that can translate to everyone. I highly recommend it for viewing.

Storyline

There, Jefferson, a simple young man, has been convicted of a murder he did not commit and sentenced to die like an animal. Jefferson is full of rage and resentment, and the women are convinced that somehow he must be taught to die not like an animal but like a man. It falls upon the teacher to enrich a life he cannot save and, in so doing, somehow redeem his own by teaching one young man "A Lesson Before Dying."

"Surviving the Game" (1994) is an action-adventure film directed by Ernest Dickerson, his following movie after the success of "Juice." The film stars Ice-T, Rutger Hauer, Charles S. Dutton, Gary Busey, F. Murray Abraham, John C. McGinley, and William McNamara. Ice-T performs excellently as a homeless man selected by a group of individuals to be their prey for their human hunting game. The rest of the cast members were memorable for their roles in the movie. I highly recommend this movie if you're looking for a tough action movie for an entertaining night.

Storyline

Mason does not know he is the victim of their sport until the following morning when he finds himself on the run for his life. Now, he must use his cleverness in SURVIVING THE GAME.

"High Freakquency" (1998) is a comedy film directed by Tony Singletary and written by Rob Gomes. The movie stars John Witherspoon, Marcus Chong, A.J. Johnson, Paul Mooney, Michael Colyar, and Deon Richmond. It was released in theaters in 1998 and was mostly on television in '99. The late '90s saw an influx of Black movies that went largely unnoticed. Many were low-budget but had relevant cast members who were familiar faces in Black entertainment. B.E.T. picked up many of these films for their movie slots, but over time, they faded out of circulation.

Ok sorry this is again a big read. But absolutely worth it!!! 💯

The theory:

In , at the Probability Storm, we see an Ant-Man get spaghettified, just like Victor Timely. But that was one of many Ant-Man. It all happens in the presence of the Multiversal Core.
Every choice Ant-Man had made, resulted in creating a variant of Ant-Man, also where we even see a version of Scott Lang who never became Ant-Man & still works for Baskin Robbins.

This is what has happened with Victor Timely. When Victor gets spaghettified, especially in the presence of a the Temporal Loom, we see Victor’s Temporal Aura enter a probability storm.

Victor Timely’s Temporal Aura was thrown across all of time & space, right when the Temporal Loom exploded, resulting an infinite number of Victor Timely’s variants coming into existence. An infinite number of Kangs.

The explosion of Temporal Loom is the very event that created every single variant of Kang.
In the very moment we see every possible variant of Victor Timely thrown across all of space and time, into the various timelines and universes being created as the Multiverse expands.
Which means every single variant of Kang was stemmed from this original variant Victor Timely.

And this is the actual master plan of ’ master plan.

In order to to come into existence, knew that his original variant Victor Timely had to be exposed to a probability storm. The storm that not only creates the Council of Kangs, but also creates the main Kang the Conqueror who wins the Multiversal War & eventually becomes .

knew it all. He was the one who helped his own existence to occur. It was his plan to deliver the TVA guide to Victor Timely, when he was a child. This caused branching of the timeline. Which ultimately resulted in Victor Timely knowing so much about time travel & creating a prototype for the Multiversal Core Engine.

The sacred timeline never had a Kang variant. It was just Victor Timely. A brilliant kid who was actually never a part of any Multiversal experiment, until Miss Minutes & Renslayer had delivered him the TVA handbook, creating a branched timeline. A branched timeline which led to the creation of infinite number of Kangs, when Timely entered the Loom.

knew he had to die in the hands of Sylvie, he also said he paved path to them to the end of time. He knew it all. His demise created the Loom to overload, causing TVA to almost collapse. Which made Loki to search for help, ultimately finding Victor Timely who now had even had a prototype of Multiversal Core Engine.

’ master plan ultimately is to create a Multiverse, then fighting a war with his Variants for Supremacy as Kang the Conqueror, winning on them, destroying the Multiverse by recreating the TVA, maintaining a single timeline called Sacred Timeline, then becoming & dying in hands of Sylvie, which recreates him anyway. This happens again and again and again until the cycle is broken by our heroes in the upcoming films.

"Def by Temptation" (1990) is an independent all-black cast horror film about a succubus, a demon or supernatural entity in folklore, in female form, that appears in dreams to seduce men, usually through sexual activity. In his first attempt, James Bond III (former child actor) wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the movie set in Brooklyn, New York. The vintage 90s setting gives this film a great atmosphere and combines jazz, hip-hop, and R&B to carry the mood. We also get to see stars such as Samuel L. Jackson, Kadeem Hardison, and Bill Nunn in the early roles of their careers. The lead actress, Cynthia Bond, moved on from acting in the mid-90s and is now an achieving author.

"Def by Temptation" is a spooky film. It's a true asset for the horror genre, which is still gaining some attraction over 30 years later—highly recommended.

Never heard of this film but I'm now going to watch it

"Full Eclipse" (1993) is a sci-fi horror film originally aired on HBO. Directed by Anthony Hickox and written by Richard Christian Matheson and Michael Reaves, this movie takes an interesting approach to using werewolves to fight crime. The lead cop in the film is Mario Van Peebles, who was very busy acting around this time. One thing about Mario is that he has a versatile resume. A solid cast, including Patsy Kensit, Bruce Payne, Tony Denison, Willie C. Carpenter, and Victoria Rowell, support him. Since this movie wasn't released theatrically, it has fallen under the radar. However, it is a noteworthy horror film with great action and deserves recognition.

One member of the cast was notably absent: Ben Savage, who played Cory on the Disney Channel series. This comes after cast members alleged Savage "ghosted" them three years ago. Fishel, Friedle, and Strong stated he "just kind of disappeared from our lives," in a conversation with Variety earlier this year. "We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity. He just woke up one day and decided 'I don’t want this person in my life anymore,'" Friedle said.

Rappin' (1985). Cannon's mid-80's Breakdancin' cash-ins were perfectly timed. They hit when every school kid in North America was obsessively poppin' and lockin on flattened-out cardboard (thanks, Alfonso Ribeiro). I was there, it happened. The crescendo peaked with this funky tale of urban renewal and fresh vocal stylings, with a bit less Boogaloo. Fans of old skool rap and lovers of awkward pop-culture fad exploitation will dig this penthouse view of the streetz.

"Trespass" (1992) is an action crime thriller directed by Walter Hill and written by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The star-studded cast includes Bill Paxton, William Sadler, Ice-T, Ice Cube, Bruce A. Young, and Stoney Jackson. The film is non-stop intensity from beginning to end. The story's premise is straightforward, but how things play out keeps you glued to the screen. Two firefighters (Paxton and Sadler) discover a map leading them to stolen gold in an abandoned East St. Louis building. While searching for the gold, they witness a gang murder an adversary. However, the gang leader (Ice-T) notices one of the men standing near the dead body, and things escalate.

Hill shot most of the film between Atlanta and Memphis, even though the film's setting is East St. Louis. Universal Pictures wanted to release the movie earlier than December. However, due to the LA riots in the Spring of '92 and because the original title was "The Looters," they changed the title and remarketed the film. Unfortunately, the riots' timing and the film's storyline made a poor impression on a larger audience because the movie had a white versus black component. Still, it had nothing to do with one group hating another group.

The soundtrack is the good raw, gutter, and in-your-face early 90s hip-hop. Ice-T and Ice Cube performed the title song on the soundtrack. Makes your wish there was a collab album between the two at the time. Other artists include Black Sheep, Public Enemy, WC, Lord Finesse, and Gang Starr. Check out that soundtrack if you want something to give you that Golden Age vibe. It's incredibly underrated compared to other hip-hop soundtracks released in the 90s.
