We discussed the Patty Labelle vs Gladys Knight battle today on CHICAGOFAMOUS and it was wonderful to see both legends. Gladys Knight had a much better showing because she did more LIVE singing and her music was strong . That said we felt some music (Patti) was lost in the details. These Covid times are a great time to teach history and even though I would have removed some of the late 80s song I think with a million people watching and Black radio always playing the same songs this was a great time to teach. For those that will say you included "B SIDES" remember unlike young people most older adults bought ALBUMS and mom and dad would let the entire ALBUM play during the card game or cook out so those so called "B SIDE" joints would have just been brought back to light because nobody plays ALBUMS anymore. Gladys Knight was better and I Love them both and I thought I would share MY MUSIC LIST with you. Shouts to Al Greer. Braxton Holmes, and LJ

Mike and Dizz in the streets this Saturday 6/27 with Census swag at the 7-11 in Park Forest on Saul Trail

Chicago media personalities Mike Love and Dizz host a special census event this Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at 7-Eleven in Park Forest, located at 425 Sauk Trail.

The live event, which will also stream on Park Forest’s page, aims to increase census complete rates for area residents. Just over 65% of Park Forest households have completed the census to date.

Attendees will receive numerous free giveaways including t-shirts, bottles of hand sanitizer, and helpful census information. Secure laptops will also be on hand for residents who have not yet completed the census.

Millions of dollars, which can make a significant difference for the betterment of the Park Forest community, are allocated by the federal government based on population. Completing the census is how each household is officially counted.

The census is conducted every 10 year and is required by law. Whether you rent or own, whether you live alone or with family, whether you're young or old, the future of the Park Forest community relies on you.

Consider these numbers:

· There are 9,600 households in Park Forest
· 7,200 of those 9,600 households were counted in the 2010 census for a response rate of 75%
· With an average of 2 to 3 people per household, an estimated 6,300 Park Forest residents were unaccounted for in 2010.
· With each resident representing an estimated $1,400 in federal funding, the 6,300 Park Foresters not counted in 2010 resulted in a loss of nearly $90 million dollars for the community over the last 10 years.
